We had the most wonderful stay at the crab shack! As a family of seven, it can sometimes be tricky to find a place that ticks all the boxes, but this home exceeded our expectations in every way. The house itself is spacious, beautifully kept, and thoughtfully designed to offer both comfort and style — there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. What truly made the stay special was the peaceful setting. Waking up to the sound of the waves and having the beach just steps away felt like a dream. It was the perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy some quality time together without any distractions. The views were breathtaking, and the fresh sea air was a treat. We left feeling refreshed, recharged, and already planning our return. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene escape by the sea :-)

We had a lovely 3 night stay in Alexa’s cottage. The property is in a great location if you wish to travel further north, it took us less than an hour to get to John O’Groats. There is a walk to the small pebble beach 5 minutes from the cottage. The cottage is by a river which is lovely to listen to at night. Our dog enjoyed the walks nearby. The cottage stays warm and the rain shower js lovely! The living room is small and cosy, with plenty of firewood. The kitchen is stocked with all cutlery and dishes. I would say bring your own tea bags/coffee if you have more than 1 cup a day. Also bring your own shower gel, something we forgot! The hosts are helpful and responsive. Everyone we met nearby were all were kind and friendly people. All in all, a lovely place to stay. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to visit that area.

The accommodation is fantastic with direct beach access. It's peaceful, spotlessly clean, and a great spot for both friends and family. Highly recommended!

Only issue we had was, that we didn’t stay long enough!! We will be returning and staying for much longer!! The cabin was warm, clean, had everything we needed, the bed was comfy, hot tub was nice and hot! View was outstanding! We also loved how private it was. One of our favourite places we have stopped this year!

Avril thought of absolutely everything - including goodies for our pup. Both herself and John were readily available to help with anything we needed and when the power went out, completely outwith their control, they were quick to bring hot water, point us in the direction of torches and made sure we had everything we needed until the power was quickly restored. This was our second visit and we loved it as much as the first. A little piece of peace and quiet. We will certainly be back again.

We had a wonderful stay in Eric and Alison's beautiful cottage. The decor and ambience were spot on. The bed was really comfortable and there's plenty of clean, fresh linen. The place was cosy but light and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen had all that's needed for self catering but Dornoch has plenty of restaurants and cafes if you feel like eating out. The cottagewas private and peaceful and it was easy to relax after days of sight seeing. The garden is really lovely and well maintained. We really enjoyed Dornoch and were lucky enough to visit during market day and the locals were very friendly and helpful. Milk and Honey is great for breakfast and coffee, and Luigi's is great for dinner. We enjoyed visiting Golspie, Helmsdale, the falls at Big Burn and Carn Liath. Eric and Alison were very welcoming, and kindly left provisions for a cooked breakfast as well as tasty local shortbread. It was lovely to meet them both and we'd love to stay again in the future!

Great place to stay on our nc500 tour with our 2 dogs. Property was very warm and brilliant internet.

Set in an amazing location just off the main road, although we couldn't hear the noise of the traffic at all. Very picturesque surroundings and perfect spot for watching the sun rise while relaxing in the hot tub. Spacious cabin and very well furnished. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. We had 2 pizzas delivered which were 10/10.
