We loved our stay at Joe's!! We'd recommend to anyone wanting a bit of a digital detox weekend. We don't live very far away at all, but this weekend felt like a complete removal of normal life as we were transported to a beautiful, calm and relaxing stay. The Shepherds Hut was super cosy and warm considering it was around 5 degrees outside over the weekend and colder at night. The sauna obviously was the star of the show for this reason too and one of the main reasons we booked this stay, it did not disappoint!! Lovely touches include the breakfast food in the fridge for the mornings & coffee, tea and hot chocolate all stocked. The privacy and space in the kitchen and bathroom. The walk out onto the public trail to take you into Lewes town centre, a gorgeous walk we'd 100% recommend. Joe was super friendly and available to help with anything we needed, couldn't have asked for any more from a host or stay! We'd love to come back in the summer!

Sue's place was lovely, cozy and in a great location. The place was gorgeous and everything was clean. The fire was toasty and already lit when we arrived which was very welcoming. It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay with everything we needed, and we look forward to returning!

Wir hatten zwei schöne Tage und Nächte mit Hund im Bothy. Stromlos aber mit Kerzen und Solarlicht war großartig. Der Service mit den Kühlakkus war super und sehr nett. Das Bett und die Decken mega gemütlich. Kleine Info an Hundebesitzer mit Jagd ambitionierten Hunden: Das Gelände ist nicht eingezäunt und es gibt Hunderte! Fasane (vor der Jagdsaison im Oktober) Wir würden es absolut weiter empfehlen!!!

Very comfortable and welcoming. Parking easy at local car park. Library lovely as was lady in the shop . Fish and Chips very close by and very tasty. Shame about the Chinese takeaway. Cath very friendly and helpful.

Had a great week staying at Amberfold with Jon and Tanya. The Lodge is a great little place with everything needed to be self sufficient for a classic Airbnb stay. There is plenty of walking from the front door as well as a pub within walking distance. Jon and Tanya were very accommodating hosts, would highly recommend!

A great find peaceful and a good place to explorer the local area

This shepherds hut was a great place to stay while walking the South Downs Way. It was very clean, comfortable and warm and has its own bathroom facilities in a separate building. Pauline made me welcome and made sure I had everything I needed. I was very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. I'd definitely book to stay here again next time I am in the area.

We had a great time at Hoots Treehouse! Lucinda had thought of everything for our comfort, including fresh bread, butter, jams and milk for our arrival, which were greatly appreciated. The weather was unseasonably warm for early March, so we were able to enjoy the balcony and a beautiful walk in the woods. Would absolutely recommend and we’d love to return.

A beautiful stay at this perfect little cabin! Jamie was always on hand if we needed anything and always quick to respond. Quick and easy check in. Great host 😀 The only tiny thing I’d like to suggest is a few outside lights or lighting on the walkway from the car park. This is pitch black after 5pm at this time of year and if the weather is bad as it was for us it’s a hard journey through muddy woodland in the dark with bags. I would recommend bringing a powerful torch! That being said we had a wonderful, relaxing and peaceful time and would definitely return and recommend. Thank you ☺️ P.s the bath is amazing!

Really enjoyed this place. My two children boy (8) and girl (5) loved the hot tube. They really enjoyed going to see the farm animals on-site. The lodge is warm and comfy. Would definitely recommend and hopefully go back one day. Thanks Emma!

We loved staying at Dean’s place, the chalet was clean, cosy and had everything you could need for a family getaway. The chalet is based right near an Asda for food and within driving and walking distance of some great places for fun days out. Dean was such a responsive host and helped with any questions we had and gave great instructions for how to reach our destination. Price and space wise you can’t go wrong with staying here and we would 100% stay again ourselves 10/10!. Thank you so much Dean for being an amazing host 🙂.

Fabulous place to stay. I was there for two nights - the night before my wedding and the night of my wedding. It was the best place to get ready as it was so peaceful, waking up to the glorious view on my wedding day is a core memory. Chris was really helpful on check in, despite me being late and not warning him. Would recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful base in that area.

We had a wonderful stay at Rhubarb and Custard and would definitely return. We loved everything about it; the quirky retro decor, great views, central location and overall great vibes. We only stayed one night but had everything we needed thanks to Elise. Elise provided helpful tips for what to see and do in the area and was very proactive reaching out to us. Highly recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed!

It was exactly as we expected. So peaceful and relaxing with Lovely surroundings and amazing wildlife. All you could hear were the birds chirping and the occasional woodpecker hammering away. Clare was really quick to respond to any question or query we had and we couldn’t fault her. We didn’t walk anywhere but we did get a taxi and the local firm turned up in 10 minutes. But we would recommend not leaving it last minute to book if you’re in a rush. We had a lovely afternoon wine tasting at the local Bolney wine estate and we also visited the cider tap which again we could not fault. Especially the Amazing pizza. We will definitely be staying again and can’t wait to get back chilling in the hot tub. Zee & Emily

Great cabin! We fell in love with the place and the surroundings. Very unique and enjoyable experience.

The cabin was a lovely stay for myself and my partner. The hot tub and pizza-oven were utilised and a nice addition to an otherwise peaceful retreat. Would stay again!

A delightful tiny retreat for 2, close to all the facilities of Alfriston but in a quiet position. Everything in "Whatnot" is well designed and of good quality, beautifully looked after. Heather is a great host, a lovely place for a few days.

Michelle and her wagons were both fantastic!! Such a great help, with a very stressful project. Will definitely go back!

A very relaxing and peaceful break from everyday life. With beautiful views of green fields and woodland. The shepherds hut had everything we needed. Helpful and friendly hosts. We would definitely stay here again!

The hut was in a beautiful location, very secluded and couldn’t see a single house. Great for those with dogs as there is a massive field. Cute touches to the place. Would recommend.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. It was everything I hoped for, a quiet and peaceful place that enabled me to visit Cuckmere Haven which was an emotional time, as it was a special place for my late mum. So àfter my visit it was so lovely to be able to return to a little haven that offered the opportunity for quiet reflection. The cabin is adorable with a very easy check in. Such a well equipped cabin, with so many little touches that make for a stress free visit. Lovely bathroom with a brilliant shower and nice big bath towels. It was so easy to get to the walk down to Cuckmere, The Seven Sisters and the cottages and then along the coast, amazing views everywhere you look. Sue has been a very friendly person to communicate with, especially when I originally had to cancel last new year, she was kind and understanding and that made me determined to visit. It was certainly worth the wait. I have fulfilled a promise made to mum to visit and I have found a little gem. Thank you x

My wife and I had a lovely stay at the Peaklets Shepherds Hut. The hut has lovely views of the surrounding areas and is well located far trips out into the surrounding South Downs and coastal areas. The hut itself was clean and tidy, with a heater and log burner to keep the hut at a toasty temperature even during a chilly February night. Emily was incredibly helpful before and during our stay making our time here so much better. Emily’s recommendation of the Ram Inn was brilliant. Great for small dogs! Thanks so much for a great stay!

We had a beautiful and relaxing stay in the hut surrounded by fields and horses. We spent lots of time around the fire pit where we cooked most of our meals, enjoyed the hot tub in the late evenings, and loved spending time reading in the swinging loveseat. The basket of full English breakfast ingredients delivered each morning, which included freshly baked bread, milk, and orange juice, was such a nice touch. There are a couple of local pubs within walking distance; I'd recommend avoiding the Barley Mow and sticking with the Cricketer's Arms, which is charming and easy to get to. Vicki and Miles were kind, easy to communicate with, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I hope to stay in one of their two huts again in the near future! Especially as it was overcast during our stay, so we missed the dark skies view of the stars on this occasion. Thanks, Vicki and Miles!

Beautiful barn, very well laid out and lovely and cosy. Excellent views of the stars at night without light pollution. Great base for visiting the surrounding countryside.
