The place was a good stay. Clean insides very comfortable mattress and protective mosquito net. Fan did a good job of cooling. I had some unexpected visitors in the bathroom (lizards) they seemed friendly and didn’t bother me. WiFi is good for what is available on the island. It does get interrupted on occasions and not very fast, but is in keeping with what is available on the rest of the area. Mosquitoes are around so be sure to bring some repellant. The net does an excellent job whilst asleep. There was a electric tennis racket which provided interesting nighttime swotting activities Overall this island is good if you wanted to disconnect from the world, but do not expect luxury amenities. Overall this place offers an excellent stay in line with what is available for this island

If you need to really get away from it all. The hustle and bustle of the city; this place is it! Beautiful beach with crystal clear water, glow in the dark plankton, they have snorkeling gear. Food was good, restaurant right on sight all home cooking. Staff was amazing; there was a little bit of a language barrier but they were always super helpful. Don’t leave snacks in your bag in the bungalows; not sure if it was a mouse, lizard chewed up my backpack and had a snack. This place is so peaceful I definitely recommend it!

Beautiful, magical location. Chea was an incredibly hospitable host, always there to share a recommendation, story or have a chat. Easily the best accomodation on the island. Beautiful, spacious bungalows with a priceless view. Helped organise activities for us too. Wouldn’t hesitate to book this place again and will be recommending to anyone I meet who is visiting Cambodia.

Vi bodde tre nätter i bungalow på Sok Mean Bungalows. Värden är mycket trevlig, det går alltid att nå honom även om han inte är där och han har alltid ett leende på läpparna. Vi sökte en genuin liten by utan en massa stora hotell och många turister och då var vi på rätt ställe. Vi tyckte att madrasserna var bättre än på andra ställen (inte lika hårda) och det fanns hängmatta och tvättlina på altanen i bungalowen. Ingen AC, men en fläkt. Vi kan verkligen rekommendera det här enkla och trevliga stället och skulle gärna besöka det igen. Härlig känsla av gemenskap! Åk dit!

I had a great stay at this apartment in Siem Reap! It’s a beautiful place with its own balcony and kitchen, which is quite rare to find here – so I was really happy to have it. The location is a bit outside the city, but that wasn’t a problem at all. I could always get a tuk-tuk quickly, and the ride to the center is fast. Surrounded by trees, the place offers great privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Of course, that also means you might have some little animal visitors – I had a few ants and lizards in my room, but I didn’t mind. Communication with the hosts was smooth via messages, and since they live next door, they’re often around in the communal area. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again! Christy is a wonderful, friendly and incredibly accommodating host! From allowing us to check-in really, really early at 5am(after a gruelling 10 hour bus ride), to giving local advice on Cambodia and Thailand, to inviting us to share drinks, meals and company. The bungalows are peaceful and private and have a bit of a tropical Brutalism feel to them(plants everywhere, raw concrete, clean lines) and the beds are comfy. In terms of location it's maybe a wee bit far from town from some, but that's exactly what we were looking for(and tbh 20 mins walk along the river isn't so far), the village is friendly and has a couple of wee shops, although some people might be put off by the amount of dogs(we weren't), they are all friendly once they recognise you. I'd happily stay with Christy and her family again.

If it's your first time in Cambodia / Siem Reap and you want an experience that's more authentic than just hotels and tours, Christy's place is the perfect introduction to the world of Siem Reap. The apartment is a treehouse bungalow, like many houses in Cambodia. It's in a very residential area... off the main road and down some alley-type places. It's the kind of place you probably wouldn't normally go if you're a tourist. That said, it's perfectly safe and the locals are accustomed to seeing foreign faces walking around so I didn't feel at all uncomfortable walking down these alley ways... even quite late at night. Christy seems to have a lot of friends and associates to the area and I had lots of opportunity to meet new people through Christy. My week at Siem Reap was extremely social. And the crowd who you meet are a good bunch. Summary: if it's your first time in Siem Reap, at least do a few nights here.
