Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, ideal for 3 adults, we each had a bedroom and a bathroom. The house was clean and tidy, nicely furnished. Beautiful views from balcony and top floor bedroom. The drive is very steep with a parking space at top. As are the roads too, I was not brave enough to walk into town as know I wouldn’t have made it back up the hill, but that is my lack of fitness, no fault of the property, without the height you wouldn’t get the superb views! Unfortunately the recommended fish and chip shop was shut on our first night, but we soon found another in Matlock Bath. The following night we found a very nice local pub known for its pies, and it didn’t disappoint! Whilst staying we visited Chatsworth House & Gdns, and Heights of Abraham, both worth a visit but very different attractions! Would return, but I see the house is up for sale so may not get the opportunity unfortunately.

Recommend staying here if you are visiting Nottingham. Had everything we needed for the stay and early check in was permitted which was a great help. Parking not far up the road which was convenient and very powerful shower! Very welcoming and responsive

Our stay at the Swiss Cottage was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking views surrounding the property, truly unmatched in their beauty. Glenys has thoughtfully provided everything one could possibly need for a comfortable and seamless stay, making it feel like a home away from home. I had the pleasure of staying here with my friends, and it proved to be the perfect retreat for our girls’ trip. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our morning teas and coffees effortlessly, adding to the convenience and coziness of our experience. The location is also fantastic just a short walk down the hill, we found a wonderful selection of restaurants, pubs, and cafés, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local charm. Without a doubt, this has been one of our most memorable stays, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book the Swiss Cottage again on our next visit to Matlock. Highly recommended!

Overall, the stay was great and comfortable. On the day of check in we did have problems with the heating as we were from India and weather is very different, however it was promptly addressed by the Host and rest of the stay was comfortable. Marlena was always there to help us. We were having a bit of difficulty checking in, but we called her and she helped us with the same. Great location and lots of stores around to grab a meal or just things in general.

Great place, great views and kept up to date by the host via messages. All the instructions were clear. I would recommend this for a peaceful getaway

A great house which was very relaxing and quiet. Loved the animals and feed for the goats! The hot tub was great! Thanks for everything would definitely recommend

Lesley’s home was so comfortable, cozy and spacious. We felt right at home for our 2 week stay. Lovely communal spaces as well as plenty of room for quiet privacy when working. Beautiful local walks right out of the front door and great location for exploring the county with a short drive to A roads & motorway. Lesley was on hand to answer any questions. We would highly recommend her home.

This is a beautiful cabin, exceeded expectations and we had a lovely time as a couple with a dog and child. Perfect area for visiting local attractions and the hot tub is wicked! Very clean and have discussed about doing again. Would 100% recommend:)

This was a fantastic find, I checked with the host before booking to ensure the pool would be available as that was the main reason we stayed (just so we could have use of a private pool) it was worth every penny as my son absolutely loved the pool but the accommodation was also beautiful. It was a real home-from-home, we didn’t want for anything! It was a perfect location to just ‘switch off’. We spent time in the pool, played games and walked to the Reindeer Inn and had a lovely meal. Lesley was a brilliant host, super friendly and so responsive to messages. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars, I cannot recommend it enough, we will definitely stay again!
