Lovely quite place to stay? Friendly host and nice welcome pack on arrival. Comfortable couch and bed. Very spacious downstairs and wheelchair friendly. The vents can be a bit noisy when the wind gets up. Very little light pollution in some directions if you are into star gazing. The drive is spacious .

We had a lovely peaceful stay, the cottage was fully equipped. The hosts Elizabeth and Peter were very approachable, helpful and friendly. Fantastic views of the countryside either in or out of the hot tub! Beautiful well maintained farm and garden. The cream tea provided was an extra bonus and enjoyed. I'd brought DVDs for the DVD player which was advertised but wasn't there. We stayed local as hadn't planned doing lots of 'sight seeing' so perfect for us. went to nearby pubs and farm shops.

Ivy Cottage is a gem 💎. Jane is a great host, great communication and flexibility. The cottage is spacious with a homely feel. We loved all the fairy lights outside, it looked very magical. Great place to have a family get together. The hot tub and games room are fantastic. We loved the small touches around the house, including the towels, bathrobes and crocs for the hot tub. The welcome package also a lovely touch, included eggs from Jane's hens, which made tasty scrambled eggs. The location is a great base and lots of places nearby. The cottage is also great if you just want to stay put and chill, you have everything you need.

Lovely little place, which we’ve used a base for the first three legs of the Hadrian’s Wall path. The hot tub was a blessing after a full day of hiking. Warmly recommended!

Four of us have just spent 3 nights in Peewit Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we all felt right at home, the place was spotless, beds very comfortable too! Everything you could possibly need for a self catering stay was provided. Having the private hot tub was fabulous, we loved it after full days of being tourists in the local area. On a separate note, we would highly recommend a visit to Beamish Museum which was about a 30 min drive, we also spent a day in Durham City & booked a 2.5 hr History/City Tour with walkaboutdurham - highly recommended. Tour Guide Peter is very knowledgeable & so passionate about his job plus he gives everyone a "free" cocktail voucher for Turtle Bay - well deserved after 2.5hrs walking around the City 🤣🤣

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were great at not just providing information but being very responsive to messages and were very friendly and welcoming. The house had everything you could need/want. We didn't need to use the kitchen facilities much in our stay but there was everything you could need there. The welcome pack provided was very much appreciated containing some lovely goodies, especially the coffee from the Durham Coffee company. It was delicious. The beds were super comfy and loved that they provided both a firm & medium pillow to accommodate everyone's preferences. The whole place was really clean & they had really thought about what people would need during a stay. The hot tub was a lovely addition and some of our party took advantage of it. Others liked the fire pit & the hosts even brought round some more logs for us to have a second use of it during our stay. Loved that every room had an ensuite, made things much easier. Loved the Harry Potter room

Wir hatten ein paar sehr schöne Tage im „Farm Cottage“! Der Hof ist ruhig und wunderschön und unsere kleine Tochter war begeistert von den vielen Tieren. Das Pool Haus mit Trainings- und Hobbyraum ist ein tolles Extra, genauso die frischen Eier von den eigenen Hühnern, Holz für den Ofen und der Service, das Waschhaus inkl. Waschmaschine und Trockner zu nutzen. Die Kommunikation mit Chris und seiner Frau war perfekt. Wir waren sehr traurig, dass wir nur ein paar Tage da waren. Ein kleiner Hinweis für große Menschen: Die Dusche ist sehr, sehr niedrig ;) Also entweder baden, im sitzen duschen oder am besten einfach die Dusche im Pool Haus nutzen!

Fantastic cottage and location is to die for. I have got to say David and Barbara have a jewel here. Claire has communicated everything we needed and answered every question we had. Again fantastic. Highly recommend this place. Thanks and hope to return

we have stayed in a few places around the area and this is the best. Just off the high street but great for walking about. the house was everything that was stated. There was clear instructions for heating, rubbish, medical center and local hospital. booked in for August can't wait.

Enjoyed a few days away over New Year with the family and had a thoroughly good time even if the weather was abysmal. The cottage is remote from the local village, which is exactly what we liked. The views over the hills were amazing, and my 2 year old loved being surrounded by sheep in neighbouring fields. The house was spotless, and had everything you could need. The log burner was used every night, and Gareth even left the first batch of logs and coal (we took more as we knew we would be using it.). Gareth is a brilliant host, good communication, friendly and very helpful when we had a slight issue with the internet (although it was world ending for my 12 year old). Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to get away to a beautiful part of the country.

Sarah has got a gem of a place here. Worth every penny. Everything was spotlessly clean, bedding, bedrooms, bathroom, living room and kitchen everything. Great location for walks - had 3 dogs with us too. Place was quiet and the locals friendly. The coal fire was great, super cosy. All in all a great place and host. Definitely recommend. Thanks Sarah

This was our second visit to the cottage which is by far our favourite Airbnb property that we've stayed in. It's a lovely property, has everything you could need, extremely clean and very homely. Ideal location for visiting Durham, close to large supermarket as well as local shops in the village. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in the area.

What can I say... Absolutely fantastic place. You couldn't ask for anything more. Really peaceful location with fantastic views of the hills etc. We had a strange issue but this was sorted out very swiftly by Malcolm 👍 We will definitely be looking to book again and have another peaceful time just watching the world go by. This was one of the nicest places we have stayed in very many years. Carol was a delight and the cottage had everything one could want. I was impressed by the number of books available, it was a joy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we felt at home from the day we arrived. The cottage was perfect for our extended stay (a month) and we will fondly remember our time in the cottage, Frosterley and the Weardale and North Pennines area. Our hosts were very friendly, laid back and made us feel wonderfully relaxed during our stay. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well appointed and ideal for our needs. We would definitely recommend River View Cottage and the other accommodation in the courtyard to family and friends and we would definitely consider returning in the future for another break.

Abbey Hill Cottages to high above W. Hartlepool. They are well equipped.Beds are comfortable and so is sitting room furniture. Plenty of hot water. Good shower.Lots of space. I would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Chapel Cottage. It had everything we needed for our relaxing break and the welcome goodies were a lovely touch. the cottage was spotless and so cosy with the log burner. We will definitely be back!

We had a great few days here, it is a lovely, well equipped, bright cottage very well located for walking in the beautiful area. Jenna was friendly, very responsive and helpful.

First time stay and will return for summer and autumn to enjoy different seasons at this amazing cottage. Wow stunning views giving endless joy and peace to unwind. Previous reviews were so helpful to choose the place and am so glad we did, all spot on about how amazing the views, location, facilities were so thanks for those. Best place out of all we have been so far over the years. Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and 100% recommend. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking oven/hob dinners. Patrick, Kirsty and Rosie - you are a wonderful host and so friendly, thank you a lot.

We stayed at Barbara’s airbnb for a night while we attended a wedding at the Croft Hotel. The location of the airbnb was perfect for us. The space and cleanliness was an added bonus.

Nicky was an incredibly helpful host. We broke down on a Sunday evening five miles from the place, and she kindly came to collect my family and luggage whilst the recovery truck towed our car to a garage. Thanks so much! The cottage is cosy and incredibly well-equipped. It is warm with plenty of wood for the stove and has heated blankets and radiators too. The location is very rural but idyllic with great walks on the doorstep. Hexham and Stanhope are well worth a visit, both within easy reach. You can walk to a bus stop half a mile or so away which will take you into Consett, or nearby Blanchland, which is a small and charming place.

We had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful cottage. Right from the start Angela and Paul were friendly and helpful. They provided me with clear directions to get to the villa and were very fast to respond to any questions that I had. The cottage it self is very charming and fits the village perfectly. The inside is nice and cosy with modern facilities throughout. The garden area was very peaceful, I just wish it didn’t rain as much so we could have enjoyed it more. Everything was spotless on arrival so we were at ease from the start. The fresh milk, bread, biscuits and even bottle of wine were a lovely touch from the hosts. If ever we need somewhere to stay in the area again we will 100% be booking this cottage. We would recommend to anyone.
