This property exceeded our expectations! We were in Bourbon for a wedding. I did not expect to find such a wonderful place for our family to stay for the weekend. We loved the setup and felt at home as soon as we arrived. If we ever have a need to return to the area we will stay here and will recommend this property to everyone we know. Thank you to the host for everything!

We had a fantastic stay at Rich’s. It was very relaxing and a wonderfully serene setting. Rich was easy to talk to and was available anytime we reached out. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here with two families, including six kids and two dogs. The house and log cabin were very comfortable, and we had more than enough space. We were just a short drive from the river, where we spent a day floating. It was a great getaway for the weekend!

Justin’s home was lovely. It was very cozy for our belated Christmas celebration with our grandchildren. We would’ve stayed longer if we could have. We will stay here from now on. Thank you making it like home.

Our first time here for a girl's weekend and definitely will not be our last. This place is so cute and welcoming, it was exactly as described by Joanie. When we walked in we felt right at home, like this was such a sweet place. One of my favorites was that as I got into the living room, there was a Hallmark movie playing on the tv!! Everything we needed was there and it was just the perfect weekend. The farm dog and cat were the sweetest and we loved feeding the horses. This was so relaxing and fun and just a little ways from Onandoga Caverns and State Park, the river, which was lovely and cute little local restaurants. You definitely should check this one out!!

I want to start by saying that the houses have a beautiful view and would be PERFECT for a spring, summer or fall trip, even if it is rainy. We had a couple issues getting to the cabin because of the weather and a couple other things that we sorted out with the owners. There were several inches of snow with a sheet of ice underneath on the property so, we got stuck at the top of the hill (4WD truck) and had to walk down with our stuff. Several people slipped and fell. With that said, they cannot control the weather but it would have been nice to have the path to the house cleared. Just be aware that the house is at the bottom of the hill and ice will be a problem. Also, I think they will be fixing the heat in the guest house, which wasn’t working while we were there. The kitchen was great. The beds were very comfortable and it all felt cozy. We all had fun and agree we would return in the future!

This place was absolutely perfect for us! We used it as a girls weekend and to surprise my grandma with a concert at the steeleville music theatre. The home was beautiful with amazing views and every last detail thought of from stacks of wood, to the binder with recommendations and even Firestarter and a long handled lighter in the basket next to the fireplace. the home was also perfect for those who may not be able to move around as well or need a more handicap accessible place in the area. 30/10 would recommend to anyone!!

We found this house due to its proximity to float outfitters, and chose it for its size and charm! We had a fabulous girls weekend here. There were many different sleeping options to choose from, huge kitchen and dining areas, and very comfortable living spaces. The sweetest cherry on top was Patches the horse greeting us every day. Would absolutely stay again!

Joe went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic! The bathroom was modern and and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was full of wonderful goodies, drinks and all of the needed utensils, pans, dishes, coffees creamers, etc. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the sound of birds all around us while we sat outdoors under the covered porch and drank coffee or sat around the firepit. There was more wood than we could burn!! Our grandson enjoyed the creek. So many outdoor and indoor games provided! Clean...Clean...Clean... As a germaphobe, I felt so comfortable in this sweet Cabin. We enjoyed hearing Joe tell about the condition of the cabin when they found it. The hard work and dedication to turning this place into such a great place to retreat is very noticeable and appreciated! One recommendation would be to add a place for hanging clothes. The area under the bedroom tv looks very sturdy to add something there. Thank you all!! AMAZING!

The Cabin was Perfect! A fabalous view, very clean and easy to enter. The Super Host was responsive in a timely manner and easy to communicate with. Thank you for sharing your delightful get-a-way!

We took our boys to Steelville during one of our son's spring break from MIZZOU. We enjoy riding dual sport/ADV motorcycles and the area is perfect for that located, as it is, near the Mark Twain National Forest. The home itself was perfect - very comfortable and cozy. Wonderful view of the Merrimac River valley. Also private and secluded. Great fire ring with ample fire wood that we enjoyed nightly. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the great bed linens. We also hiked a marked trail that headed west from the home. We hit every restaurant in Steelville and enjoyed them all (Rich's Famous Burgers, Spare Rib Inn, Royal Garden Chinese)- despite all by one not serving alcohol (Mr. Tequila of course). We also headed about 7 miles north to Cuba where there are more great restaurants. The hosts were wonderful and responsive to our requests. Couldn't ask for more. And the price point for the stay was more than reasonable for what we got. Will be glad to book there again.

The log home met the needs of our family ages 6 months to 72 years old. Would recommend to others. Relaxing atmosphere with many thoughtful touches. Responded to questions quickly. We will return.

We loved our stay. The privacy, the closeness to caves and streams, and the ease of our stay made it a great time. My one concern is that we didn’t understand the different levels of the house that resulted in steps up and down between areas. That was doable for us but could make a stay difficult for others. I have no hesitation staying there again but it is a consideration if you have mobility issues. Thank you for your hospitality!

We had a beautiful, peaceful, quiet time at the Cedar Cabin for my birthday. We enjoyed the natural surroundings, walking to the river, being near the horses, seeing the moon and stars, and just relaxing in this comfortable cabin. It had all we needed, plus the price was very reasonable. We definitely plan to return to this house or to the Backwoods Cabin. Carol was a wonderful hostess, and always replied to my questions immediately. Highly recommend this house--not fancy, but so quaint and built with cedar from their land!

One of our favorite stays to date! We stayed as a family of 4, on a hiking trip. The property was exactly as pictured - super comfortable and clean. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked, bathroom was clean, and we loved that we had access to plenty of shampoo/conditioner, TP, detergent, coffee, creamer, etc. The location was quiet and safe. In addition to the hot tub and fire pit, we had fun playing horseshoes, disc golf, baseball, football, throwing axes - so many fun family activities! We (our kids especially!) also appreciated the complimentary s’mores kit, which we used every night. Ahmar was a great host, proactively checking in to ensure we had what we needed and super responsive with a couple questions. They’ve done a great job of making this place feel like home and taking care of all of the details. Highly recommend this listing!
