We had an absolutely magical stay! Theunes was the perfect host—warm, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful. He greeted us with open arms and gave us a full tour of the property. We were touched by the small but special touches like cappuccinos, KitKat bars, and a freezer stocked with ice—such a treat after the drive! The views are simply breathtaking, and we made the most of our days hiking through the valley, exploring the river, and enjoying the peaceful beauty of the farm. It’s the ideal escape for a family of four—and being so close to Joburg makes it even better. The house itself is quaint and charming, beautifully styled with antique furniture, and equipped with everything we needed (and more!). We can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

I wish there was an option for ‘super great!’ I cannot rave enough about this hidden gem in what felt like was the middle of nowhere. Our city kids aged 7&8 had no issues playing and getting dirty and loved engaging with the donkeys, baby goats and bunnies. The resident sheepdog herded us so well he even slept in our cottage! The hike was fun too but can be a bit daunting for those who are not sure footed and there is a bit of climbing involved but the view was worth it. Loved it so much and will be back for a longer relaxing stay again soon! Thanks to everyone who looked after us!

We had a wonderful and peaceful time at the River Cottage would highly recommend for a weekend getaway. Bed super comfy and great views and attention to detail with cottage stocked with everything you may need including earbuds and panado. We will def be back.

I had a great stay. Bridgette was helpful and responsive. Check in was easy. The place was also peaceful and quiet. Would definitely love to be hosted by her again.

5/5 Stars - Magical getaway at River House, Utopia! Despite rain, we loved the serene surroundings, river views, and natural rock pools. Kids had a blast, and we enjoyed the peaceful escape from city life. Lush greenery, nature reserves, and fireplace made it cozy. No TV was a refreshing change. Highly recommended for a peaceful, nature-filled retreat!

Wonderful host, amazing views, we literally felt right at home, very peaceful area with some lovely Visits from Kudu’s. Definitely would recommend and would definitely come back again. All in all it was amazing

We needed a creative, out-of-town venue for our annual company strategic planning breakaway, and Idwala Le Ingwe Lodge proved to be the ideal place! We had an amazing and very productive time there, and all our planning sessions were held outside, overlooking the Hekpoort area. The lodge was a great choice. It offers great views, four amazing bedrooms, and a massive open entertainment area—great for working, bonding, and team-building. Being less than an hour out of town, we will definitely revisit the lodge in future,
