Such a wonderful experience. The house is beautiful and so relaxing. Morning coffee in the bay window was such a perfect way to start the day. Breakfast was incredible! Vania created a beautiful, thoughtful breakfast - better than any you'd find in a restaurant. I especially loved the little biscuits and the dressed veggies accompanying the eggs. Both Bruce and Vania are such kind, welcoming folks who made sure I felt at ease, had plenty of privacy, and had everything I needed.

Rose greeted us with kindness and very clear and thorough orientation. The transportation from Philadelphia earlier in the day was so easy by Metro from Union Station to within a reasonable distance to her home was easy, without having to change Metro lines. Her home is on a lovely quiet residential street. It was much appreciated to have an elevator to our private suite on the top floor of their home. Having both a living room with sofa, television and an outdoor balcony was a nice alternative to the bedroom and en suite bathroom. It was nicely appointed with a small refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. Sue provided tasty instant oatmeal and other snacks enjoyed over our week stay. It was much appreciated having access to use the washer and dryer on a lower level. This was especially so after getting caught in a torrential downpour without jackets or umbrellas. Sue was delight to converse with and was all that one could want from a host. We truly recommend Rose’s place.

Fantastic host, hearty breakfasts, great location, interesting fellow guests and very comfortable spacious home more than made up for the European style shared bath. I recommend for a bed and breakfast experience that gives you a home in DC.

Lucia’s place was well worth cost. I Lucia in person the morning I was checking out. She greeted me with breakfast and coffee. Lucia has a very pleasant and peaceful soul. I will definitely book with Lucia again.

The American Guesthouse is perfect for a visit to Adams Morgan, Kalorama, or Dupont Circle North especially if you are trying to avoid big chain hotels. It is in a charming historic home that provides quiet and privacy. The location is convenient to a number of neighborhoods, the National Zoo, and Rock Creek Park. The breakfast is outstanding, and Lucia is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Checking in and out is a breeze. I will return and stay again the next time I visit Washington D.C.
