Over the years, we’ve stayed in many Airbnb properties, and often, they don’t quite live up to the photos or descriptions. Gail’s place is the exception. The house was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and well-appointed—a truly great value. The property itself was a nature lover’s dream. We were greeted by howler monkeys almost every morning, spotted plenty of toucans, and enjoyed the soothing sounds of the jungle. A special mention goes to Luna, the sweetest and friendliest dog you’ll ever meet. She would stop by to hang out, making our stay even more enjoyable. The location was also ideal—just a six-minute drive to the main road and close to Dominical, where we found great restaurants and plenty of activities. We highly recommend Gail’s place and would absolutely stay again!

Great family vacation. House was beautiful and clean, had everything we needed. Location was very private with amazing views. The dirt road up the hill was a little bumpy and long but well worth the drive. Concierge service was top notch- responded to all of our questions with timely manner with great recommendations

Beautiful place to stay, my family and I had a great time and made a lot of amazing memories,the house was super clean, the pool was a plus supermarket is only 7min away. This place was phenomenal and felt like home away from home. The waterfall was beautiful, the restaurants and bakery just down the road were easy to get too. Very nice each bedroom had its own bathroom. Would definitely stay again!

Great place to stay with the beach really close and all type of other places that someone will need near the Airbnb with easy access.

We needed a place for our large mixed group of family and friends who were here for a wedding and this place was perfect. Ample room for everyone, safely gated, a pool to keep the kids busy and large common area for everyone to convene. There are others living nearby but they are quiet and we’re always very helpful whenever we needed. You’ll want to have a car while here so you can quickly and easily jaunt into the city centre or take a short trip to Dominical (about 35 minutes). Would happily return! Great place.

We stayed at Eric’s house and it was wonderful and easy to get in. His response was amazing and the location is perfect. We were there just for the night but love the place. At first you think that the pictures are not real but they are actually. New place and wonderful to stay. Thanks

Nice property with great amount of nature in its surroundings. We could see macaws and tucanes from our windows. Heard howling monkeys mornings and afternoons. However, I will recommend 4x4 vehicle because you need it to the last climb to the entrance of the property.

Disfrutamos de una maravillosa estadía en la casa de Craig. La casa esta muy bien equipada, limpia y muy bien organizada. La entrada y salida fue autónoma, sin interactuar con nadie pero en la casa todo funciona tan bien que no fue necesario ninguna instrucción extra. La casa es muy cómoda para tres parejas, los baños muy amplios, la cocina muy completa y había muchos detalles como elementos de cocina, de limpieza y de aseo, botiquin, toallas de primera, etc que facilitan y hace mas facil la estadia. La casa queda en un área verde a pocos metro del rio que se escucha bellamente durante la noche. A menos de 5 minutos caminando hay restaurants y negocios diversos para hacer las compras necesarias. La casa tiene cochera propia. Cada vez que escribimos a Craig el respondió en segundos y se mostro flexible a los horarios de entrada y salida. Recomiendo la casa de Craig para pasar hermosos dias en Uvita en una casa confortable y bella.

Perfect place, great communication and we felt right at home. We stayed with our 1 and 5 year old children and it was perfect for our family of 4. Pool was so nice, and even had horses to watch in the backyard. Had a toothbrush cup, which I love in a vacation place!! Nancy even messaged us to notify for an early check-in which was so above and beyond with small children and traveling. Uvita was such a nice town to stay in and easy to many beaches and waterfalls. Would highly recommend!

Das Haus liegt sehr einsam an einem Berghang mit einem schönen Weitblick. Zur Anreise ist unbedingt ein 4x4 notwendig. Durch die abgeschiedene Lage hat man zwar ein sehr privates Erlebnis, dennoch überlegt man sich zweimal, ob man das Haus tatsächlich verlässt. Bis auf die fehlende Geschirrspülmaschine war alles wie beschrieben. Auch die Kommunikation war stets sehr freundlich und kleinere Mängel wurden unmittelbar behoben. Für Ruhesuchende ein idealer Ort. Sowohl Pool als auch der hauseigene Wasserfall bieten eine tolle Erfrischung. Dennoch sollte man gut zu Fuß sein, um die vielen Treppen zu bewältigen.

Jolie petite maison dans un endroit calme et à moins de 10 minutes à pied du parc marino ballena. Tout était propre bien rangé et moderne La piscine était très appréciable avec ces températures! Le lave-linge et le sèche-linge ont été utiles. Le propriétaire est très réactif. une très belle adresse, où l'on se sent bien.

This was our second time visiting Jim’s place. It is such a special property, surrounded by nature. Jim did an incredible job designing and landscaping his home. There are native fruit trees that surround it. Every sunset Tucans visit the property, and we were lucky enough to see Howler monkeys in the distance. This property fills our cup and we hope to return in the future. While we love visiting Domincalito and the laid back beaches, our favorite thing to do while visiting is lounge at Jim’s and take in the beautiful landscape. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Fue un viaje familiar. La casa está ubicada en una zona retirada, muy tranquila. Durante el día pudimos observar muchos tipos de aves y mariposas. Durante nuestra estancia una pequeña ave pasó haciendo su nido en un arbusto frente a la ventana de la cocina y por esa misma ventana pudimos observar un Venado pasar. La casa es muy acogedora, completamente equipada. La recomendamos en todos los términos. Esperamos volver pronto!

Lena’s Blue Shack was a wonderful home base for my family’s 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Would definitely recommend it and would consider staying again. Location is great, walkable to the beach and all the shops and restaurants in Dominical. It’s On the Main Street with frequent foot and car traffic but still private and quiet behind the gate. Our kids loved the swimming pool! So many great day trip options available from the house - beaches, waterfalls, other coastal towns, wildlife preserves etc. Lena sent cleaners once a week which was a great perk and Steve was super nice and helpful. One small issue we had was that it was hard to get either shower to maintain a consistent temperature (fluctuates between too hot/cold) which was tough for our small kids. But having the outdoor shower was awesome! Thank you Lena!

This place is more breathtaking in person than in the pictures it’s absolutely stunning! We visited with our 3&1 yr old, and we had an amazing time enjoying the pool and exploring the jungle trails(bring bug spray for the trails, but no bugs by the pool). We saw alot of monkeys and birds. The groundskeeper was so kind and even brought us fresh coconuts to drink. The landscaping is beautiful and well-maintained. The host gave us a personal tour of the house when we arrived, making us feel welcome. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for our 1yr old(who still naps)it stayed cool and dark. There was even a crib for him. The hammocks were fun for both the kids and adults we spent hours just relaxing and enjoying the jungle views. At night, the accent lighting around the house created such a cozy and relaxing vibe. We had a 2WD car, and it did great in low getting up the driveway, even 6 people and our luggage. Pay attention to the landmarks when finding the place, as it’s easy to miss.

We had the great fortune to spend a month at this fabulous house. Everything you’ve read previously is absolutely true..the house and the view are even better than the photos. We saw amazing birds and butterflies daily. The house is comfortable and well stocked. It is a quiet and peaceful haven. The hosts are so kind and responsive. Good to know: the house is very remote. It is at the end of a VERY steep mostly dirt/gravel road with sharp blind turns, about a 2.5km drive up from the highway. The road is not for the faint of heart. We got used to it as time went on but I did contemplate my mortality regularly! Note that you can’t walk anywhere from the house. Wifi and power outages happen in CR and there isn’t enough cell coverage to hotspot from this location if you need regular connectivity. The beds feel quite small, more double than queen - fine for a few days. If you need to work you might prefer staying in town. This is a perfect retreat for a few days of luxury in the jungle.

The grounds are perfectly manicured and the house well maintained. Very comfortable with a beautiful view. A definite repeat.

Love the place. The host helped arrange a car rental which you must have to get to the place. We used an uber a couple of times - although the uber couldn’t get all the way to the place.

Sharon and Mac were both extremely helpful with questions about the property, local area, and recommending things to do and explore. The cabana itself is very cozy and private and the tap water is drinkable. The property has an incredible variety of plants and is very well maintained making it a pleasure to walk around. We saw many beautiful birds in the mornings, and heard the sounds of the jungle at night. Sharon and Mac are truly great hosts and will make you feel at home.

Nuestra estancia en esta casa fue simplemente perfecta para relajarse. Nuestra familia estaba trabajando y fue increíble poder contar con un excelente WiFi. Los espacios con vistas a la naturaleza, rodeados de pájaros y monos, eran inspiradores. La piscina tenía una vista espectacular al mar, y la ubicación era muy conveniente, con supermercados y excelentes restaurantes muy cerca. A menos de 10 minutos del Parque Bahía Ballena, podíamos disfrutar de la playa temprano y regresar a nuestros trabajos y a la piscina. La casa estaba muy bien equipada, ideal tanto para familias como para amigos. La recomendamos al 100% y definitivamente pensamos volver. La comunicacion con Landon fue muy buena, siempre atento a las consultas y dando las recomendaciones que fueron muy buenas! Gracias

Feels like a NEW home. Everything looked new. The layout is really well-planned and the home is comfortable and secure with the surrounding walls and locking gate. Off-street parking too - your car is inside the locked area. Very nice place to stay.
