Was already impressed with the pictures on the listing but the property exceeded my expectations. Somehow it was better than the pictures would suggest!! Secluded, clean, charming, comfortable, spacious, characterful. Beautiful views. Friendly donkeys. Immaculate gardens. Tranquil walks. The most equipped kitchen you can imagine. We were a group of 8 and everyone felt at home instantly. The one thing I would say is that the hot tub certainly needs pre-heating before you arrive if you intend using it the day you get there- it took at least 8 hours+ of rigorous attention to the wood fire to reach temperature. Overall a truly memorable and lovely stay. Thank you.

Amanda’s cottage is beautiful and is in a great location. The surroundings are peaceful, and this is a great destination for a relaxing weekend away. Amanda is very accommodating as a host and was always very prompt with responses to queries. We were provided with a lovely welcome basket which was a nice treat to receive on arrival. Check in and check out was very straight forward and instructions for this were clear. The hot tub and outdoor area is so nice and relaxing, with a lovely view of the countryside. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept with ease. I would definitely recommend staying here for a wholesome weekend away in the countryside.

What a lovely little cottage with a beautiful view!! We went with our 1 year old twins for a mini moon and had the best time. Rowland was a great host, he sent clear instructions on check in / tide times etc, good communication and gave lots of recommendations for local places to eat / drink etc This is located next to a pub with really good food and an amazing pizza place we ate in along with lots of other good fish restaurants with a short walk to the high street. West mersea is small but with everything you need and relaxing vibe. We took the kids in Colchester one day to a pool and isn’t too far away. We would 100% recommend and would love to visit again. Forest Cottage was an amazing place to stay! I was visiting family and this was a great place to relax and have our own space for the vacation . Great rural location , yet close enough to amenities etc . We had an issue with the toilet and Jason promptly had a plumber out to fix it. Quiet and charming place. Jason was very responsive and easy to reach out to if we had any issues . My only suggestion would be to have a binder or booklet with more detailed instructions on the cottage rather than hand written notes ( ex. How to use the stovetop, where the outside lights are located etc). Beautiful country views with access to Hatfield Forest on our doorstep. The hot tub was an added bonus. Will definitely look to visit again sometime soon . Thanks Jason !

Fantastic cottage in idyllic location. Photos do not do it justice - it’s a beautiful cottage, full of character and charm. Lovely garden too. Had a wonderful stay and communication was excellent.

Adam welcomed us on arrival and was friendly and accommodating. When we needed to contact them about a couple of minor things, they were responded very quickly and dealt with any small issues immediately. Very friendly and provided local information. Accommodation was as expected, presented well - a 400 year old cottage with quirky, rustic and therefore in keeping decoration. Well appointed and plenty of kitchen accessories for cooking in if that's what you want to do. A lovely welcome pack provided :-) Nice pub over the road, beautiful walks to local villages with other great places to eat, a good location for a relaxing and walking and admiring the local scenery.. Area popular with bird watchers it seems (being right on the estuary...) Some road noise outside as the cottage is right on the road, but you soon get used to this if you're not already.

Fred and Hester’s place was lovely, comfortable and clean. We arrived in the UK very early and Fred very kindly let us into the Airbnb (with prior arrangement) which was very much appreciated. We were also provided with milk, bread, jam and butter in the fridge which was great! The location is also great, it’s only about a 5 minute walk into the centre of town where there’s plenty of shops and cafes/restaurants but at the same time it was dead quiet at night. I would absolutely stay here again if you’ll have us 😁 Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Beautiful cottage with lots of character. Location was excellent with amazing views from the enclosed garden. We had a lovely relaxing weekend, plenty of fresh air and walks with the dog. Vanessa was a great host, providing us with clear and useful info re the property, check in etc.. Thank you for the milk and snacks provided on arrival.

Arranged to stay at helens place for the weekend whilst visiting my son. After a long and stressful journey we arrived 2 hrs later than scheduled, it was a home from home soft lighting and basket of snacks were certainly a nice touch and appreciated. Helen responded to my messages promptly. And was accomadating with check out time. a very nice host. we are visiting again in November for my sons graduation and would love to book again nearer the time.

My partner and our 2 dogs stayed here for two nights and we had a blast. With Henry’s responsiveness and proactivity, I felt safe to have my dogs off leash in the garden area. Beautiful as the sun came out for most of our trip. This is an ideal area for some quiet family time. Our trip mostly fell on the Monday and Tuesday where there weren’t too many dog friendly local restaurants to go to so keep that in mind when booking. Overall, had a lovely time with only positive things to say a great space to relax and it did not feel too cramped at all. Henry was super helpful with walking recommendations as well as using the gas oven. The waterfall shower adds a nice touch to the space that is relaxing as well. Kitchen was stocked with necessary cooking utensils so I won’t be opposed to cooking more meals here next time I come. Only thing I would say is for the shower handheld to be replaced as it’s been quite loved and for some more dusting other than that loved everything about this place!

Everything was exactly as described and more. What made this really special was that we ran into some unexpected personal issues and Greg and Lauren went further than we could have expected or even hoped for under the circumstances. Terrific people and a wonderful place. Highly recommended. We’ll be back.

Sally's house was a perfect place to stay for a new years Eve getaway with friends. Plenty of space, beautiful area and super helpful instructions. The house felt so homely and the log fire and cosy duvets were lovely for this time of year. Hope we can visit again!

This was our second visit to James & Felicity’s beautiful cottage. Everything was just perfect again, from the Christmas tree in our bedroom to the amenities, the difference being we had an additional guest - our 6 month old baby! James and Felicity kindly added a lovely travel cot and high chair. We actually hosted Christmas for family who live locally, the kitchen had everything we needed to make a special Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. James and Felicity are wonderful hosts, quick to respond, incredibly kind and polite, all round good eggs. Thank you! I have a feeling we’ll be back again!

A lovely, peaceful retreat in the countryside. Owners were friendly and helpful and we would definitely return. Enjoyed the daily sightings of pheasants, partridge and birds of prey. Excellent pub only a few minutes away serving really good food. See you again

The cottage is beautifully presented and the location is great - private and quiet but within a short walk of the harbour and the beach. This was our first time on Mersea Island but I’m sure we will return. Judy was an outstanding host, answering all our questions very promptly, and very kindly leaving provisions for us. The quality of the accommodation was even better than we expected from the photos. We visited with our grandchildren aged 3 and 5, and they loved the cottage and crab fishing from the nearby pier. I completely agree with the high ratings in the Air BnB website, and I recommend the cottage very highly indeed.

We had a lovely time staying at Amanda’s. The place was spotlessly clean and tastefully done out. It was well equipped with all we needed - also so warm and cosy even in a cold February! There are lots of places to explore within driving distance. It wasn’t too difficult to find and check in was easy. We really hope to visit again sometime soon 😊 we had a great stay!

I enjoyed the chocolates .. seriously, it was immaculate and the added touches, location and quiet space were appreciated. As observations we know you are looking forward to more outside space which would add even greater utility. It would be good to consider a dryer to go with the washing machine. We appreciated the hanging device provided as an alternative. Parking was not a big issue but the "blue van" space would have been helpful! Overall very positive Justin.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely, clean and welcoming. Set in a beautiful location and the accommodation has been finished to a high standard. Beds are super comfy, WiFi and heating were amazing and everything we needed was available. Only problem we should have booked 4 nights ;)
