I had the pleasure of staying at this lakeside cottage in the Irish countryside. The location is peaceful, set an hour away from Galway, providing the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle. The cottage itself is cozy with a view of the lake, Lough Mask, right from the window. The host, Maura, was welcoming and hospitable. She made our stay extra special by bringing over a delicious Christmas dinner for us, which was a thoughtful and generous touch. She also provided us with fuel for the fireplace, which added a warm, comforting atmosphere to the cottage. She was always available to answer any questions we had as well! The cottage was also exactly as described—charming and well-appointed. Staying at Maura's gave us a great opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the serenity of our surroundings. Overall, this was a lovely stay, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the Irish countryside. Maura's hospitality truly made the experience memorable.

A home from home in an amazing location with loads to do and see. Even if it was just a coffee on the sofa enjoying the view. Had everything we needed. A friendly welcome, Conor was readily available throughout our stay if required. Purple Door for breakfast Yum. Highly recommended

I recently had the pleasure of staying here for two nights with three friends, and it was a fantastic experience. The location is stunning—peaceful, private, and surrounded by nature. The outdoor amenities, including a lovely campfire area and an outdoor shower, added to the charm of the stay. The bus itself was incredibly spacious and well-equipped, providing plenty of room for a comfortable night’s sleep. The stove was a great feature, keeping the space warm and cozy, with Richard thoughtfully providing firewood to get us started. Richard was an outstanding host—proactive, friendly, and always helpful from the moment we arrived until the end of our stay. His attention to detail and hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway, and I’m already looking forward to returning this summer!

An incredible location for a fantastic getaway. This beautiful house did not disappoint, from its private surroundings, it's stunning design and luxurious feel. It was everything and more we could have possibly asked for. The host went to great length to help us out and gave us a warm welcome on arrival. We couldn't be more thankful and would love to return in the future.

Finlough House was even better than described and pictured. It’s truly the perfect escape to the Irish countryside. The house was fully equipped with absolutely everything you would need on your stay and it was so warm and cozy which made it hard to leave. We were a party of three and we had more than enough space to each feel like we had our own piece of the house. The location was also perfect as you got a remote escape with easy driving distance to top notch attractions (Kylemore Abbey & Croagh Patrick) and quaint towns such as Leenane and Louisburgh. The house and location were perfect, but the icing on the cake was the host Margaret. She was extremely communicative, helpful and a pure delight. She even went the extra mile to stop by and check in on how it was going for us! I can’t recommend Finlough House enough and I definitely plan to return. Thank you, Margaret!

If you don't want to stay in the city center, but still wanna be just a short drive away, thats the perfect stay for you! We loved the appartement very much, as it feels ages away from the city! It's a beautiful rual area that still lets you enjoy Galway during the day or night! The appartement is beautifully furnished and we liked all the little interior design! Aidan and Ciara gave us some great recommendations where to go to in Galway and also where to park the car. We would highly recommend for a couple or friends who like both, the city and the country.

We had a lovely stay. The house by the lake side is simply wonderful and Sorcha was a kind, warm and very helpful host. There is plenty to see and do at a short driving distance from the accommodation. This place is a gem !

A gem of a place! The apartment itself is lovely, with comfy beds, great shower pressure and and very well kitted-out kitchen. Willie gave very useful instructions on how to get in well in advance. And of course having an en suite pub that serves excellent pints and pizza was a bonus - the pub is lively but never so loud as to be a disturbance in the apartment.

Wir haben 2 Nächte in der Unterkunft geschlafen und haben es sehr gemocht! Das Airbnb hat einen kleinen Ofen, den man im Winter auch benötigt, weil es ansonsten recht kalt ist, da es keine andere Heizung gibt! Als wir ankamen wurden wir direkt erwartet und der Ofen wurde bereits für uns angemacht und wir bekamen Brot und frische Eier! Wir wurden super freundlich und herzlich empfangen! Die Küche ist sehr minimalistisch eingerichtet aber man hat alles was man braucht! Die Lage ist super schön und man kann gut einen Tagesausflug zu archill Island machen! Wir haben es geliebt!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans le cottage de Dolores et Joe. l'étage offre une magnifique vue sur le lac et d'agréables balades sont accessibles depuis le cottage. L'intérieur est typique et cosy, idéal avec des enfants. Dolores et Joe sont des hôtes très attentionnés. Une halte idéale pour visiter l'extraordinaire Connemara !

Beautifully appointed home in a beautiful area! We enjoyed the peace and quiet and loved having it as a homebase for exploring, as it’s pretty conveniently located near the Wild Atlantic Way. We got to meet the sweet neighbor dog and had everything we needed.

Unser Urlaub im Cottage 431 war wunderschön. Wir waren als Freundeskreis dort und haben die Ruhe direkt am See, die grüne Umgebung und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten im Westen Irlands genossen. Der naheliegende Ort ist mit Auto in wenigen Minuten erreicht, auch zu Fuß in circa 15 Minuten, was aber nicht zu empfehlen ist, weil es keine Fußweg außerhalb des Ortes gibt, die Straßen sehr eng und nicht beleuchtet sind und die Autos sehr schnell fahren. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und gemütliche Pubs sind ebenfalls im Ort. Im Haus gab es alles, was man für einen schönen Urlaub braucht, wir haben nichts vermisst. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt!

What a charming place! We loved staying here.

Incredible setting and a very comfortable place. Loved the wood stove and the kitchen was perfect for cooking meals. We used the cottage as a launchpad for a hike on Diamond Hill and a day trip to Inish Mor. We slept like babies! Wished we’d stayed longer! Host was very responsive and helpful.

We’ve been traveling Europe for 6 months, and this was our all-time favorite stay! We got to spend Christmas at the cottage, and Pat and Mary made us feel right at home. We were greeted with scones and fires and Christmas decorations, and both Pat and Mary went out of their way to look after us and provide wonderful, local recommendations. We enjoyed visiting them at their bookshop-cafe and getting to know them throughout our stay. The cottage is incredibly cozy - comfortable beds and couches with two, large fireplaces - and the location itself was ideal. The kitchen is very well-supplied, and the showers were always warm. We could get into Galway city easily, or head deeper into Connemara to explore the Irish landscapes. Oughterard is a lovely town, and it had great restaurants and grocery shops and (of course) the bookshop-cafe! Highly recommend!

Micheál was a wonderful host. We had a lovely time at the cottage, the ponies were an added bonus! Highly recommend.
