Grasmere : locations de vacances dans des cottages

We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

Charming cottage well renovated, with everything you need, fantastic location for walks/cycling and a short drive to other attractions, would definitely come back, the views alone make you feel lucky to be here.

The location was amazing and the views were spectacular. This home was exactly what it said on the tin. We were all blown away by it and had beautiful weather to make the most of the outdoor area. The only thing we did notice was that there wasn’t enough wine glasses & champagne flutes. Not ideal when there was 8 women so we had to use half pint glasses. We could have also done with more dishwasher tablets to last the stay. Apart from that it was perfect. Thank you.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location, well equipped with lots of homely touches and even lots of things left out for the dog on arrival (towels, treats, ball, dog bags). Plenty of fields for long walks and a huge luxurious hot tub in the Spa room. The host Kathryn was very informative leading up to our stay with lots of activities and places to go, and she was extremely quick to reply when we had questions during our time there. I’d highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay and would love to go back in the future.

Such a lovely place to stay, so peaceful and even better in the sun ( which we luckily had). We had such a relaxing stay and the beds were like a dream. Would definitely recommend this place for a break. It was so nice to see little rabbits running around and even better to have a little friend 🐱welcoming us in😊 Would stay here again. Thank you 😊😊

A wonderful place for the whole family. Very welcoming and hospitable hosts who shared their beautiful land with us and our young children. We will certainly be back to stay again.

Excellent hosts home made cake lovely welcome pack was very nice touch even put candles on the cake and decorated for my birthday very helpful with local places to visit and eat rose barn was immaculate we felt right at home don’t essitate to book it’s stunning stay thankyou again

We had an absolutely lovely time staying at High Swinside. Diana was an amazing host and went out of her way to make us all feel comfortable. I would highly recommend any of her cottages.

We have just spent a couple of wonderful days walking up penyghent. Moira's cottage was wonderful. Really clean and cosy and stocked with everything we needed. The walk up to pen-y-ghent starts literally right outside the doorstep which is very handy and a comfortable bed is exactly what we needed after the long walk. Thank you Mouira for your hospitality.

Superb, great location and wonderful host, if you're looking for a peaceful getaway in the lakes this is the place to go

what a gem! photos don't do it justice. the place was so homley and well presented. such charm. the area was lovely too, friendly neighbours and great community on the street. brilliant base for our family's Lake district adventure. excited to stay again!

wardhall cottages is a perfect peaceful retreat. Great fire, laid and ready to light on arrival. Huge bath beautiful countryside with easy walks to a woodland with the dogs. Near to Cockermouth for shops and cafes and close to Allonby for beautiful beach walks and sunsets.

We had a lovely couple of days at Brandybuck cottage. Superb location in the heart of Kirkby Stephen with the high street a minute walk away and some gorgeous walks around the local area straight from the cottage. The cottage itself is a real home from home with a well equipped kitchen,comfy beds and a decent shower. There was plenty of space for our family of 4 with 2 older children(who appreciated the TV in each bedroom). Communication from the host was excellent with directions and check in details clearly explained so arrival and check in was a smooth process. Parking is on a road to the rear of the property which again was clearly explained and Marks directions took us to the exact place to park with further clear directions from there to access the rear of the cottage. Tea,coffee,sugar,milk and a packet of biscuits was provided upon arrival which was a nice touch and much appreciated. We booked this cottage as a last minute break and it is a real gem of a find.

Another amazing stay at Lynn’s beautiful farm! This is our fourth time staying here and each time we have felt right at home. Lynn is the most amazing host; always on hand for advice, recommendations and a friendly conversation, along with providing excellent little touches like fresh eggs, local biscuits, and letting our little boy feed the goats and sheep in the morning which became our daily routine during the stay! Her property is equipped with everything to make your stay effortless. The cottage and the surrounding areas are so peaceful, so if you are looking for an escape to the tranquil countryside then this is the place! We as a family cannot recommend here highly enough for a break in the Lake District.

A wonderful cottage in a fabulous location. Fizz, fresh bread and homemade jam to greet us. Lovely warm and surprisingly large cottage with a gorgeous view of the ford. Great walks straight from the door with wildlife aplenty (sadly no red squirrels but our host did point us to a hotel where we managed to see them). All in all, a cracking place to stay.

Amanda was a fantastic host, taking the time and effort to make sure we had all the right information for the local area in Settle - the recommendations came in very handy! The cottage itself was lovely and we felt right at home in the heart of Settle!

Absolutely loved our anniversary stay at Crumble Cottage. Was everything we needed for relaxation and more On check in, Stewart was on hand and gave us an overview of the place, surroundings and suggested great places to visit and eat. The cottage itself is approx 15min walk into the centre of Cartmel - with great places to eat and drink there We visited the Wolf Predator experience by Grange-over-Sands - it was amazing!! Really enjoyed the comfort of the cottage and the tranquility- Will definitely be back again! Thanks for having us (Heidi & Craig) ☺️

We had a great 2 night stay at the cottage. Really nice inside and comfortable beds. The village is really quiet and nice walks close by, with a local pub which was highly entertaining with the locals full of chat. Would highly recommend a stay here

Catherine is an excellent host, great communication and keen that everything is ok, quick response to queries raised. lovely welcome touch, of milk, cereal, bread, pastries, fruit juice jam, butter and apples and a supply of tea and coffee. Lovely compact cottage with a good kitchen, with a dishwasher and microwave. peaceful and quiet, away from everything but only a short drive in to Kendal

Cosy house & beautiful garden. Quiet location. Easy parking. All necessary appliances to self-cater etc. Great base to explore surrounding areas & escape busy Bowness!

A beautiful cottage, exactly as described. We had such a great family getaway in beautiful surroundings. The cottage had everything we needed and was immaculate. Lovely, rural village with things to do only a short drive away. Peter and Kate were great; it really was a home away from home and we’ll definitely be back. Our little girl just LOVED it :) Thank you!

This was a beautiful spot, nice & private & accessible to the lake for a beautiful sunset pic opportunity. Very clean & tidy on arrival & we tried our best to leave it as we found it.
