The location of this property couldn’t have been more perfect. Each day we were within an hours drive from major sights and activities including: thingvellir and silfra, gulfoss and geyser, Rejkavik, blue lagoon and seljalandsfoss. Selfoss is accessible and the geothermal park in hvererageroi was fab. The remoteness created the perfect conditions away from built up areas and we were thrilled to see the northern lights twice - viewing them from the hot tub made it feel even more special. House was tidy with everything we needed and just as described. Instructions to get there and responses from Gunhilder were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this property for a self drive action packed Icelandic holiday.

Beautiful place, right in the heart of Golden Circle, short drive to some of the most beautiful places Iceland has to offer. Host went above and beyond what you would expect, and they left lovely gifts on all the beds for us. I consider it a privilege having stayed there with my family.

I’m so grateful that I booked this apartment. Maria was outstanding, very attentive, responded always quickly and she even bake us a delish dessert. Cabin is exactly as described. Bed is good, space is beautiful and I was able to see the auroras from the cabin. Cabin is near the restaurant area of the city and lots of the amazing waterfalls that Iceland has to offer. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for everything!

A stunning little cabin with a great view! Was very comfortable for the two of us, and we really enjoyed our four nights there. Nice modern touches with just the right amount of space, and superb location along the golden circle. As noted in another review there are some amenities that aren’t listed but were greatly appreciated. An airfryer, a nespresso machine, bath robes (ideal for going out to the spa in the cold), and a stunning sauna with a large window with a view. I will say the kitchen had all the basics you need, especially for a short stay. With us having four nights we felt a few more things would have been nice, but we easily made it work. Owners were very responsive and checked in on us to make sure things went smoothly. 10/10 recommend.

Parfait, rien à redire! Il a neigé avant notre arrivée ce qui a rendu les lieux encore un peu plus magique. La maison a tout ce qu’il faut, c’est chaleureux et confortable! Les lits sont aussi très bien! On était complètement convaincu et nous ne pouvons que recommander les lieux! Nous avons également pu voir les aurores boréales! Les lieux sont parfait pour cela. Si vous arrivez en hiver et qu’il y a de la neige fraîche , c’est vraiment tout de suite après la barrière à activer avec le numéro de téléphone. Genre 50-100 mètres plus loin que la barrière… tout était recouvert de neige et il faisait nuit. Mais sinon c’est super facile à trouver!

It was absolutely perfect ! The location was unreal, we had everything inside we could possibly need, the hot tub was phenomenal. The room was clean and well equipped, it was all very quiet. The view is clearly stunning, we had an amazing host that was very responsive and helpful. We took the breakfast that she proposed, it was delicious. We also had diner at the restaurant, it was practical and very good as well. I would definitely recommend this place and would gladly come back.

This cabin is perfect! We got to cook a few nights which was nice to stay in during bad weather, it was private, very comfortable, and we got a glimpse of the northern nights one night. It’s also in a good base location and close to many sight seeing attractions. Rannveig was a wonderful host as well, she goes above and beyond making sure we were settled in and doing well. We absolutely loved staying at Hjörtur’s property - peaceful, private, cosy, welcoming and exactly as described. The hot tub with geothermal water was the highlight, as it allowed us to observe northern lights from the warm embrace of the healing water, leaving our skin and hair super soft and our bodies and minds super relaxed. The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle and we couldn’t have asked for a better first time experience in Iceland. Hjörtur was fast to respond to our messages and was extremely helpful. We recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, private retreat, with options to hike and explore stunning Icelandic landmarks. We will be back!

We had a fantastic time at Straumnes cabins. The cabins are very peaceful, and in a beautiful setting on the lake. We were spending a couple of days doing the golden circle and South coast and the cabin was perfectly located for this. The communication was great, the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed, and lovely and warm. Many thanks to our host for a great stay. We would highly recommend the cabin for family's exploring the golden circle that want a peaceful stay in the countryside.

La estancia fue maravillosa, el Airbnb no puedo ser mejor, su localización apartada de ciudades nos permitió ver auroras boreales y la bañera de hidromasajes fue lo mejor. Inga contestó siempre muy rápido y amable y siempre ayudaba con todo lo que podía. Sin duda volvería a hospedarme aquí.

Cozy cabin was a great central location to drive the Golden Circle and the South Coast. The hot tub at night when we’d been busy all day was perfect! I missed the info of no microwave and the fridge was a small size but we just got dinner groceries each night in our way home to cook.

mein Mann und ich haben 1 Woche in diesem wundervollen Haus verbracht. wir haben uns für diese Lage entschieden,da man hier den kompletten golden circle abfahren kann. ein absolutes Muss ist die Secret Lagoon, vor allem bei schlechtem Wetter. der Pool beim Haus war abends ein Genuss, man saß bei 0 Grad unterm Sternenhimmel. das Wasser war so heiß, manchmal müsste man kurz aufstehen und sich abkühlen. absolut herrlich. die Küche hier war auch super ausgestattet,es war alles da was man braucht. wir würden immer wieder her kommen. liebe Grüße

Sígrun’s place was exactly what we were looking for! We had the best welcome ever being greeted by the northern lights. The house is well equipped with everything you need. From kitchen appliances to toiletries. And the hot tub outside, is an excellent place to relax. Location is perfect. Very nice and quiet and also close to all the main attractions of the golden circle. Our farewell was also memorable with northern lights dancing for us! Some places we’d like to recommend: Sky Lagoon, Thingvellir National park (20 min drive from the house, bring good shoes, can be very slippery). Tryggvaskali restaurant, Messinn restaurant, Silfra restaurant. And of course all the other attractions around the golden circle. Thank you, Sigrún, hope to be back soon!

Just as described! Krista was very helpful with recommendations and directions. Plenty of space and great living and dining room. Views are amazing. The hot tub was amazing, definitely try after a long day of hikes!

What a special spot! Gísli was a responsive host and the accommodation was simple but perfectly situated to take in the beautiful surroundings. It was comfortable and complete with everything we needed.

Communication from Bjarni was great. Great location on the golden circle. Relatively central to some of Icelands wonders providing you have a car. Great views from lodge. Would definitely go back.

This place is amazing, truly behind words. Not only is it very roomy and very homey it is in a perfect location. It’s less than two hours in on direction to Reykjavík and two hours in the other direction to Vik, black sand beaches. It’s 20 mins from gas, grocery, a famous hot spring, a geyser, and many waterfalls and restaurants. We came in a snow storm at night and it was surprisingly easy to get up to the house. Rental companies should stud your tires and you’ll be fine. Our host was so responsive and left us special treats and Xmas decorations. He has plenty of coffee and necessities, robes, sweaters, flip flops, and so many towels! The best part: We saw northern lights from the hot tub and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. I could not have asked for a more perfect stay 10000/10 recommend.

Lovely cabin, very clean and beautiful location.

Victor’s place was a great find for us. We used it as a midpoint to go back to the Blue Lagoon, up to Pingvellir National Park, down the coast to the waterfalls and of course take in the Kerid Crater. It’s fairly remote which we loved and my husband is happy driving so that didn’t bother us. Victor gave great instructions to check in and didn’t mind when we didn’t follow them properly and bothered him for assistance. The house is well equipped and lovely and warm.
