Loved staying here! Had friends in the place next door and it was perfect for hanging out with our kids.

If you're looking for a quiet, secluded, "almost" off grid with the comfort of electricity and drinkable/hot running water this place is IT. Perfect for a pair of couples, a couple with a "third wheel", or parents with older kids these side-by-side cabins were an excellent way for us to stay together, but with our own separate spaces. The hot tub is large and comfy and with the outdoor covered area and t.v. made for some very relaxing evenings. The hosts went above and beyond with some great little welcoming touches - we arrived to all of the fans on, hot tub partially uncovered, a bottle of wine on the outdoor counter, and all of the t.v.s playing some relaxing hawaiin music. If you haven't been fortunate enough to meet a coqui frogs face to face yet you will definitely make friends with them here! A couple of them have a favorite spot under the lights of the outdoor shower. Be prepared for some wet and cool weather on this side of the island

The jungle cabin is on a beautiful property with picturesque views and all the amenities you could ask for. The overlook was perfect at sunset!!

What an amazing find! Thank you for all that you provided. We saw so much at every part of the island because our stay was so affordable. Perfect spot if doing volcano national park hikes, Hilo area, or southern tip of big island. We drove the north coast on the way in and south coast back to Kona to fly out. This was the best vacation of my life and partly because our Airbnb was so easy! Mahalo 🩷

Such a gem nestled in so much greenery. Our check in was so smooth and easy. Our host made us feel welcomed. The road leading up to the house is a bit bumpy/muddy due to rain, glad we rented a jeep which made it easier to drive through. House has everything we needed to cook. There was a jacuzzi that sadly we did not have time to use. If you want to stay in a cabin like house away from others, this is perfect for that.

This place was great! Really was just like the Airbnb description. Including the outdoor bathroom! Just keep in mind how cold it gets in Mountain View and how midnight bathroom runs might go! Enjoyed being in the rainforest, middle of nowhere, quiet!!

If you are going to be in this side of the Big Island this airbnb is a must! Love the place!! I wish we would have stayed longer! First of all what a paradise, very cute and clean. Love the outdoor shower and of course all the amenities. I personally enjoyed walking up in the morning have a cup of coffee in the porch and at night returning from all our sightseeing and enjoy the hot tub while listening to the frogs and the birds outside. Our host was very proactive and return a message promptly even though I was not expecting it. Thank you for everything!

Great place, very close to the park entrance- a little off the grid, but plenty of heaters and blankets and a great base camp. Gary was very responsive and helpful

This place is pure magic. It feels like living in a rustic but comfortable treehouse in the jungle. We did yoga on the deck every morning and watched the sunrise over the jungle with the ocean in the distance. So peaceful. The sounds of the coqui frogs, birds, and various wildlife were simply enchanting. I really felt connected to nature here and was able to slow down. I also loved the outdoor shower and toilet. One note would be that the kitchen is often busy with the volunteers who live on the farm so while it is easy to store your food in the fridge, I felt that if I cooked a full meal, I might be a bit in the way. Everyone was good-vibed and I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Hope to return.

Absolutely the best place I have ever stayed. It’s magic and I miss it already!!! I’ll be back and will be recommending this space to everyone I know! The communication was amazing, the space was intentional and beautiful. So grateful for my time here!

Unique property you feel comfortable but in the jungle at the same time. The Jeep 4WD is a must for the road, but it will be useful around the island to go beyond the normal tourist places. Forget holiday resorts and cities, this is real escape holiday destination. Great place, great value thanks for letting us stay in your place. :-)

Great experience and very friendly host and neighbors. This bamboo hut is welcome to everyone who wants a retreat or living far away from the network. There is even a sanctuary room for meditation. However, when i lived there, there was a hurricane. So it's kind of scary to hear the strong wind blowing the jungle and trees/leaves hitting the rooftop.

A great peaceful place in Fern Forest on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii. Love how peaceful and wonderful the wildlife was such as birds, frogs and chicken surroundings the property. The property was also was surrounded by beautiful vegeation. The host was very responsive to replacing the broken TV and address the wire that fell in front of gate during a windynight. Highly recommend the property to the people visiting the Hawaii Island.

빅아일랜드의 첫번째 숙소. 힐로의 흐린 날씨와 서늘함에 조금 쳐졌으나, 숙소로 들어오면 벽난로와 따뜻한 침구로 포근하게 잘수있었어요. 기대했던 숙소인데.. 기대 이상의 숙소였습니다.^^ 화산 국립공원과는 차로 5분 정도였고, 조용하고, 평화로운 아침을 맞이하게해준 볼케이노..잊지못할겁니다. 언젠가 또 방문하고 싶어요 감사합니다.

This place is so special and peaceful. Pros: magical surroundings with easy access to beaches and all that North Shore offers. Feel grounded and connected to the land. Loved the lush surroundings, lizards, and gardens. Towels were soft and beds comfortable. Cons: bring bug repellant. We got a lot of bites. Also the outdoor showers only have cold water. In March that was really chilly. Also the air mattress has slow leak and needed to be topped off each day.

Dan was an exceptional host! He is very friendly and wanting to ensure everyone has a great experience. The view was incredible & it was wonderful getting to try fruit from the orchard even though it was a bit early for many of the fruits. The provided shampoo & lotions were great! if you need conditioner make sure to grab some. This area is remote & magical!

PonoMana Zen Cottage is a wonderful, lush retreat. The cottage is quiet, the property is surrounded by lush landscaping and citrus, papaya and native Hawaiian plants and has all the amenities for a great stay. Megan & Jeffrey were incredible hosts and responded quickly to any questions or requests we had.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Madeleine's cabin on her farm. The location is terrific and just the kind of place we so enjoy. A peaceful, quiet spot with a beautiful view. We were within easy driving distance of the many sights we wanted to visit while we were in the area. Madeleine is a truly thoughtful host, from the muffins she left for us on our first day of arrival to her warm goodbye when we left. We will definitely return to stay again. Thank you Madeleine for being such a wonderful host and for providing us such a delightful place to stay!!

Photos don't do justice! Ocean view with beautiful sunsets. Waking up to birds chirping and sleeping to the sound of ocean waves. Very peaceful location with greenery all around. Would definitely stay here again.

There are places that are so magical they etch themselves on your heart. This might be a beach or a forest, a cabin or a village. In this case for me, it was The Trolley. Fun, funky, private, beautiful in itself and its surroundings, the Trolley exceeded the expectations of what I was looking for, which was both adventure and solitude. Joe has worked hard to create a space that is creative and has everything one needs. The Trolley is an incredibly unique place that is comfortable, inviting, and a delight to spend time in. Surrounded by nature, accessible through a gorgeous drive and with beach access close by, it is a perfect place for someone looking to be away from crowds and more touristed areas, but still close to towns, activities and sites to enjoy local flavors and adventures. Joe is an excellent host who respects his guest's privacy, but is also available to engage in conversation. I hope to return again one day soon to soak up all the magic of The Trolley.

We had a lovely time at Michael&Emma’s place, feeling very happy about the decision. The cabin is artistically decorated very well maintained with many traveling essentials. I only came to the full appreciation of the location after having spent another 4 days at the other side of the island: the cabin is about 35 mins drive to Hilo, with many shops and food trucks to explore on the way to Hilo. It provides a subtle sense of a forest retreat while also not compromising the fun a very hippie city can provide. Also very easy to get to the volcano national park and multiple less tourist beaches. The drive into the property is also very scenic with lush tropical vegetations. Though sharing the same land with the main property, probably because the land is huge, there is a sense of privacy no matter what. Previous to our arrival we had some concerns and expectations about the off-grid living, but it turned out we adapted to it very smooth - just live the normal life more consciously

I had an amazing stay at Rachel’s cottage. It was perfect for my needs of working remote early in the AM (solid internet) and enjoying the serene surroundings in the afternoon/evening. The lava field/ocean cliffs right behind the place are super special and I found myself wandering there more than expected, even at night for incredible stargazing. Rachel is a super kind host, very communicative and you can tell she’s a good person. Would stay here again in a heartbeat
