Highland County : locations de vacances

Me and my and my 3 kids stayed here for a weekend trip to snowshoe. The property is located about 40 minutes (weather dependent) from the ski resort and had the perfect amount of space for us. We recieved about 4 inches of snow while we were there making for incredible views of the surrounding hills.

Wonderful spot! We stayed here for our quick trip to Snowshoe and really enjoyed the people and small town feel of Monterey.

Great old house with interesting historical structures out back. The view is beautiful. Comfortable living room and kitchen works well for cooking. Dining room was great for meals and board games. With two full bathrooms and four bedrooms, we had more than enough space for 4 adults. The wind was howling at night but earplugs help cut down the noise. Check out the weather before your trip, this is at a high elevation and can be windy and colder than you might expect in march. We went into McDowell and Monterey for the Maple Festival. Got the trout at Highs restaurant. Oh, also really enjoyed the walking trail behind the house. Highly likely we’d like to return some time, thank you!

Lovely, peaceful cabin that is perfect for a relaxing getaway. House is equipped with all the things you need, and is a short drive from restaurants, etc. in Monterey. We especially loved the stream, the fire pit, the stunning scenery, and the pastures with friendly farm animals. Would come back in a hearbeat!

We stayed here during the Maple Festival and it was a great location to be. Michelle was super friendly and accommodating and had a basket of fruit and coffee waiting for us. Everything was clean and she was super helpful. If you’re in the area and need a place to stay, I would definitely recommend.

The photos don’t do the views here justice- it’s so beautiful and peaceful! The place is as described, an older farmhouse but very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Be sure and pick up groceries/specifics before arriving to the area, as the nearest large grocery store (Walmart) was about an hour away. There are smaller grocery stores in the immediate area stocked with the basics, though. Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, etc were about an hour away as well, but there are nice hilly trails on the property to walk as well if you don’t want to drive that far for a hike. Bring your binoculars, LOTS of deer and birds to see from the deck. We would definitely stay here again!

Cute spacious Airbnb with all the essentials and a decidedly non-essential but fun pool table. We came for a fall colors trip and were not disappointed. As a bonus, if you can swing a moonless night, the field is a great place to take in a view of the milky way. Would highly recommend.
