We had an absolutely wonderful time. Couldn't have asked for more. Hosts were super helpful, friendly, responsive, all around excellent. The property was great, cozy, comfortable house with plenty of space to relax, beautiful yard, and of course access to a pristine and lovely lake. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, a little bit of nature, and some time on the water, you can't do much better than this.

Sue was a delight to work with! As someone who books contractors often, she was by far the best. From one of my contractors: The Arbor View is my absolute favorite place to stay in Hillsdale! As a contractor for the college for the past six years, I’ve tried out all sorts of local hotels, BnBs, and student housing, but none of them come close to the cleanliness, comfort, and convenience of The Arbor View. It’s like having my own little slice of home away from home! One of the many amazing things about The Arbor View is its fully stocked kitchen. I could easily cook and store food for the week to save money and avoid eating out all the time. The amenities included a basket full of yummy snacks, bottled water, and high-quality coffee and tea. The entire house was spotless, and the décor, bedding, and towels were all top-notch. There were several areas throughout the house to work on my laptop with fast internet. I especially enjoyed a few deer sightings in the backyard yard.

Thistle House is bigger inside than it looks. The layout is inefficient: long walk from bedroom to bathroom-- 2 total in the house, but strangely right next to each other--and wasted space downstairs (esp. main bathroom). All of that, including the narrow, enclosed, back-hallway-like staircase and creaky floors lend to its old-time charm, though. There are modern appliances (e.g., refrigerator, stove/oven, washer/dryer, large TV) but no dishwasher. The heat is also inefficient. Downstairs seemed fine, but Jennifer had (correctly) warned us that upstairs where the bedrooms are would be chilly. Heating fans were available in each, but we opted just to pile on blankets, which she also had several of around the house. The only bed we tried (queen in the front room) was comfortable. That walk-in closet had lots of hangers we could use. We were pleased to be a short drive from campus in a safe neighborhood and in a house obviously well loved and cared for. We would stay here again.

We had a funeral, and had 9, plus 2 dogs. We were able to find space to accommodate us all. The space was clean and tidy and very “ lakeside cottage” feel. We wished it hadn’t rained the whole stay. It was very peaceful and tranquil. Overall the beds were comfortable and it was perfect. Well stocked kitchen with dishes ect which was helpful.

We love the cottage and all it has to offer. We had everything we needed. There was plenty of space… beautiful views, and we really enjoyed our time there with the family. We love Long Lake and plan to return as soon as we are able.

Nice, comfortable and convenient! After asking if the kitchen had a crockpot, I found a new one sitting on the counter when we arrived! The garage ended up being even more of a blessing with the snow.

Michael was very welcoming and flexible. We felt at home and comfortable in a really peaceful setting.

Hosts were friendly, helpful, and informative. Beautiful and peaceful property with loads to do. Travelers of all ages can find something to do on this property and in the surrounding park areas.
