Second time staying at this property and it’s a lovely experience and lovely area off the beaten path. Very quiet and clean. I’m appreciative of the hospitality that both Sharon and Stephen showed me. Will be going back for a 3rd time in the future.

Such a nice little place! Excellent view of the ocean and the lanai was a fantastic place to sit and enjoy the morning. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Kitchen had everything you needed to cook too! The place is full of thoughtful touches and we wanted for nothing-Robynne had thoughtfully provided everything we might need during our stay and she was so approachable and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re planning to spend a few days in the area. It is a bit of a trek into Hilo, but a lovely spot regardless!

David and Ericka were fabulous hosts! The space is located above the coolest little cafe style kava bar, a popular local spot with good people and great energy. There was live music the nights we were there and you get the best of Pahoa in one spot! The space was easy to get to with a fabulous balcony to overlook the town. It was set up like a loft with tons of space and everything we needed. The bathroom makes you feel like a mermaid. We loved it and loved everything that came with this experience! Would definitely stay here next time we’re in Pāhoa!

We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. Christopher’s place was very clean, with a very comfortable bed, peaceful and quiet surroundings, nice location. Hosts were always helpful and responded very quickly in all correspondence.

The Lanai was beautiful, we loved the views and the cozy tranquility! Rdk left perfect instructions for navigating around with great food recommendations. Also the pups were very friendly and we enjoyed giving them treats each day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makuu Palms. The setting was beautiful, private (although you might have neighbors in the other side of the house), and convenient for our needs. The place was perhaps the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in, and given the tropical conditions (including critters) that’s really saying something. It’s an easy walk to the ocean and although there is no beach the ocean spot is really special - we loved it. Michelle and her husband were kind, helpful, and respectful. We visit this area at least once a year, and Michelle’s place will be at the top of our lodging list. Looking forward to our next stay.

She was absolutely amazing and came through during the crisis. I can never thank her enough for everything she did in our beautiful home. She opened up to me and my family and how helpful she was.

A lovely, quiet setting, yet not too far from town. Sites on the Hamakua coast, such as the Tropical Botanical Garden, were also within easy distance. The room and lanai were very comfortable. The kitchen appliance and clean-up arrangements were a bit awkward, but doable and met our needs. Laura helpfully brought us a coffee grinder to use because there wasn't one in the room.

The pictures didn't do the house justice. It was an amazing home base for our family during our stay. The host was great to work with as well.

My family loved this stay! The called it “the jungle house” because all the jungle sounds surrounding you at night made you feel like you were in the middle of a rainforest. Beautiful home. Well stocked. The screened porch with extra seating was our favorite spot for games and conversation. The host was awesome with many local recommendations and extra details. Hope to stay again!

Brand new! Clean! Roomy and comfortable. Tastefully decorated. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The place is a good location for adventuring on the east/south sides of the island. It is cozy and the outdoor bath was an awesome and relaxing way to end the days.

Es war sehr ruhig und abgelegen . Ein Auto ist erforderlich, um die Gegend zu erkunden. Das Wohnzimmer ist abends sehr warm und ein weiterer Deckenventilator wäre schön. Um die schöne und großzügige Aussenterrasse zu nutzen ist es empfehlenswert Mückenschutz dabei zu haben.

Mike and Kim were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Although they live in the property, they respected our privacy. House was clean and had everything we needed for our 6 week stay. The pool was incredible, which our kids and us frequently enjoyed. It was hard to leave and hope to be back again.

The apartment is just perfect for a couple. I was floored to see the interior decor and layout, and the balcony was a beautiful place to eat breakfast or just to drink coffee and read. Big screen TV and free streaming service, Roku, Netflix, Paramount, Apple TV, Disney+, to name a few, Wifi is excellent should you just want to stay indoors. The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay whether you wish to cook or just relax & chill. Parking area is not lit during the night so it's dark but you're safe, and the property has resident geese and chickens. The nightly rate is absolutely reasonable, about a $100 less than the two major hotels on Banyan Drive, plus you get so much more extra room amenities that hotels don't give yet charge you that extra $50 resort fee for things you should get by default. Complementary Keurig cups (coco and coffee) hands down this place is definitely value added. I will certainly look at staying at this place in Hilo town again, 5 ⭐

Great place! Ki left an excellent recommendation list full of activities close to the Airbnb! He was very responsive and helpful. In the kitchen, a few cockroaches crawled out of the sink drain. But at the end of the day, it is Hawaii, and there are lots of cockroaches on the island. But his home was great!

Great place, literally paces from a BEAUTIFUL lagoon and beach filled with turtles and fish. Nice quiet road dotted with 4 or 5 beaches/parks, and about a 3 mile drive to the shops/grocery stores to keep the kitchen stocked. Also had a French press so we could enjoy our fresh Kona coffee every day.

The Hilotown Condo was exactly what we expected plus a bit more... great location on the park with a very nice view of the park and even a bit of the ocean, was clean and well kept, plus had all the amenities. We especially enjoyed the lanai, dreamy bed and A/C! The condo is very close to Coconut Island and the Japanese/Liki'uokalani Gardens which we loved. Shae was very prompt with check-in/out questions. Thank you so much for hosting us! We will return hopefully sometime very soon.

I wish this spot was available for my whole stay bc it’s so well located, super comfortable and nice. No complaints.

This is a unique, older complex and the units are efficiencies that come with a nice size patio. We were there in February and enjoyed sleeping at night with the cool night air blowing through the screen patio door. Once you get used to the area noises, it makes for good sleeping. What is nice is that the place comes lightly stocked, or they leave the donated items from other guests for future guests. I would rate this a 2.5/3 star accommodation, but very clean. It does not have central air, but it does have an external source to cool the unit. The building’s small laundry room was convenient and clean. We did not use the pool as the water was in need of a good shocking. There is a golf course that borders the back of the complex with a walking trail to the ocean. The people we met in the complex were friendly and helpful. Downtown Hilo is just five minutes away. We enjoyed our stay here and would return again.

Lovely room with luxurious bedding. The kitchenette with full-sized refrigerator was wonderful.

Hosts were great, condo is exactly as described. We really enjoyed hearing the frogs and the stream next to the property!
