Location, location, location - that is why I choose this listing as my wife was joining me after a business trip to Scotland and I wanted to make sure she was comfortable and we had a nice place to stay. It wasn't inexpensive - this is probably the most we have ever paid - but I know my wife. Looking over the options in Portree, there was too much at risk choosing a B&B or hotel, I needed to be sure that the stay was excellent. And it was! The view was exceptional, the property clean and largely odor-free (it is next to a fish and chips shop, so the kitchen had a bit of an odor, but the bedrooms were odor-free!). I would stay here again, as noted, not inexpensive - but not many choices for AirBnb in Skye so this was by far the best choice in my opinion!

Staying at the Old Mission House was a tonic. The house is spacious, very well proportioned and tastefully furnished whilst the kitchen is comprehensively kitted out - down to blender and spices!. All appliances are modern and effortless to use (particularly the electric space heaters). Above all they fit the bill, are appropriately sized and located and function perfectly. The situation of the house is wonderful and the creatively landscaped garden which stretches and gives access to the lochside is heavenly. All you need is some cooperative weather - ideally with some sun. Should it be pouring, all is not lost as the 270 deg. views from the house can equally be enjoyed from within and are very immersive. West House is one our favourite Airbnb's we've stayed in. It's beautifully refurbished and very cosy. The cottage has everything you need, even wood and firelighters for the log burner. It's set in stunning surroundings right on the sea. David and Jayne are responsive hosts and have obviously taken great care to make the cottage welcoming to guests. We loved Skye and would be keen to come back to West House again.

This was the perfect Xmas getaway to escape all of the madness at home. We spent the week having dog walks on what felt like our own private beaches. The accommodation was well equipped and had extremely comfortable bedding. We also really appreciated the supply of fuel for the multi fuel stove. A warm, cosy and memorable week. Some lovely additional touches that were really appreciated. Hope to visit again.

Fantastic location and home ideal for us. Plenty space and lots of games, books, dvds and everything you could ever imagine needing for the kitchen. Heart of the home ❤️(as in Scotlands Home of theYear)the kitchen table or the red tartan chair in the living room . Would definitely stay again 😊

The apartment was perfect for me.The standard and quality of everything is very high. It was immaculately clean,a good supply of towels,everything you could possibly need in the kitchen,lovely toiletries in the bathroom and in a great location with views across the bay. I had a lovely time and wished I could have stayed longer.

A perfect 'croft' in an idyllic location. The accommodation was cosy, comfortable & spotless. Tony & Susan were great hosts; very helpful but not intrusive. We will never forget our stay. We doubt many other Airbnb hosts can offer seals swimming past the front window and the birth of a Highland calf - free of charge!

Amazing stay in Portree! This place is adorable and in an amazing location. The view and location were top notch. My family's stay in the Isle of Skye was made even better thanks to this place. Cozy living with a nice fireplace and kitchen. Games for us to enjoy with the view right outside our door. And easy to get to all the recommended hikes and scenery. We would definitely stay here again!

Words cannot accurately articulate just how EXTRAordinary Sandra's Airbnb is. Photos do not do adequate justice. This Gem in the Isle of Sky is absolutely the very best experience we have ever had with Airbnb and we Airbnb A LOT! From the start of our journey, Sandra's advice and council on getting to the Airbnb, along with her insights on our desired journey were not only incredibly helpful but selflessly thorough and compassionate in nature. Her clear and informative direction on getting to her Airbnb, along with parking safely and enjoying all aspects of the Airbnb were out of this world and her hospitality is unparalleled. Not to mention, all of the extra sweet touches in the home are like nothing we've ever experienced... hot coco AND marshmallows! Coffee, honey, grains, a variety of spices and everything and more than you would need to enjoy a home cooked meal and settle into a beautiful night. Unbelievable! The local whiskey was a huge favorite of mine along with my wife! A+++++

Very helpful host and close to Stornaway and all amenities

Wonderful stay. Well situated to expore North and South UIst, with lovely cafe, fish shop, and wool shop, within easy access. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very thoughtfully, and tastefully, furnished and equipped. Lovely views of the loch, and very entertaining sheep wandering by. Robin and Michelle couldn't have been more helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in their beautiful cottage.

I could write a book detailing everything I loved about my stay at the sky hut. I’ll do my best to keep it short and to the point. Holy hell. I wish I could rate the sky hut higher than a 10/10. The views are simply breathtaking. The hut was the perfect size. Not large by any means, but we never felt cramped. The hut was spotless and smelt fantastic. The bed is an easily one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. The views, the coziness, the comfort…. It made it difficult to leave the hut and explore the isle of Skye everyday. The sky hut is a GEM.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Otter Bunkhouse as a family of four (with teenage kids). The signs make it easy to find, but the location is secluded and peaceful. As expected, the weather gave us four seasons in one day and the bunkhouse was a cosy place to hunker down and watch the constantly evolving view from the three large windows and comfy chairs. It was a real privilege to share such an incredible spot and watch wildlife come by - otters, seals, squadrons of gannets diving for fish, curlews, eagles, and an array of other birds were infinitely more entertaining than anything a TV has to offer, and all four of us were transfixed. Bring your binoculars! Swimming in the lock was magic. Donald was incredibly kind, and when our ferry was cancelled because of the storms, we were grateful to be able to extend our stay (luckily the storms also prevent new arrivals - phew!) Brilliant base to explore Lewis and Harris which is an unforgettable experience!

Felt like home. We stayed at Braes Retreat for four weeks and we loved every minute. The location is great for travelling around Skye as it’s pretty central but it still has that quiet isolation that most people come to Skye looking for. The house has everything you need, it’s very clean and comfy and Iain and Ingrid are great hosts to help you out with any issues. As all the other reviews say, the garden is spectacular, the views are beautiful and it’s generally a really lovely place to stay.

Ich habe 12 Tage bei Flora, in dem Bothy, meinen Urlaub verbracht. Von dort aus konnte ich die Isle of Skye erkundet...einfach fantastisch,... Die Lage ist sehr gut. Ich werde wiederkommen. Flora und Jack sind tolle Gastgeber, das Bothy war ein Traum....alles war perfekt. Ich danke den Beiden von ganzem Herzen für die tolle Zeit. sehr empfehlenswert 😊👍

Tides was the perfect rental for our family of five. Comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. Gorgeous views out over the water watching the ferry come and go. We had many gloomy days on our trip but the house was a wonderfully cozy place to hunker down and watch the storms blow through. Would highly recommend and hope to return someday!

We stayed in George's Tin Sheds for only few days but we wish it would be longer. The place is really clean, feels new and taken care of. Its well equipped in terms of cooking appliances, and perfect for group cooking and just relaxing after long day of road tripping and hiking on Skye. Location is really nice - besides the amazing view from the living room, there is well equipped supermarket just few minutes away (by car). George was also super helpful host, ready to offer some useful tips about Skye Island and help with any problem.

We had an incredible stay at Aline Lodge. The lodge is really beautiful - top marks for all the fires having firewood, firefighters, and matches all ready to go. The electric Aga means the kitchen is always warm, and the view is world class. We went fishing twice (caught 11 trout!), clay pigeon shooting, used the sauna, and played table tennis and billiards. The kids went out on the boat around the loch and saw sea eagles, golden eagles, seals and a porpoise. Robert the gamekeeper was great - really responsive and happy to help. Could not recommend this highly enough - we will be back!
