This stay was perfect, the home was exactly as described, with plenty of room for our group. The river view was great! Everything was clean and accessible. Our host was fantastic. Was extremely responsive(even before booking). Made sure we had everything we needed and was very polite. This is probably one of the best host(s)/stay experiences I have had in years as far as value, quality, expectation, and host communications. We look forward to many more stays here! Steve’s place was a perfect base camp for visiting Elephant Rock, Taum Sauk and Johnson’s Shut In’s. I was able to bring my pup along for the adventure. The house was beautifully decorated, the two beds in the bedrooms were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and blankets! The kitchen table was perfect for eating and for playing a wild game of cards! We were also able to walk right down to the town square and get a yummy Mexican dinner and in the morning walk to get coffee at the fabulous coffee shop!

We had a very fun weekend at Amie's cottage! The location is excellent for easy drives to lots of beautiful areas for hiking, which is what we were looking for. There are restaurants and conveniences nearby as well. We really appreciated the opportunity to bring our dog, who had an absolute blast! The cottage is just as described. The shower is not attached to the rest of the bathroom, which was different, but worked just fine. Amie was very responsive to questions and helpful. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area!

We were extremely pleased with the house. The 2 boys had very nice rooms, they liked them! Our room was also very nice. It was a quiet neighborhood unlike many other places. Being a separate house there were no close neighbors to hear, especially in the late evening. It was a safe area to go for walks. We were very pleased with everything.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay at this cabin! The surroundings were quiet and peaceful, the river was gorgeous, and the cabin was cozy and rather spacious! We had a campfire in the firepit and watched a few of the DVDs (big selection!). The kids had fun waving to the neighbors who drove by. Great weekend, great cabin, great host!

The cabin was cute and cozy and decorated for Christmas. It suited our needs for our three night stay. Close to town for groceries and restaurants while the location itself is wooded and sits opposite pastureland. Several great hikes were a short drive away. Our host was friendly and responsive.

Loved our little getaway to the woods, what a great place to disconnect from the busyness of life in a city.

Private cabin with historic charm. Loved reading about the history of the home and seeing old pictures. The WiFi was fast and dependable - able to stream shows and even have a zoom call. Beds were comfy, and there was extra blankets if needed. be prepared that there isn’t much room to put clothes in the upstairs bedrooms, though more than plenty in the main bedroom. Hosts were very responsive. Nice neighbors who also happen to be the handymen for the hosts. Our dog loved the cabin and had the whole front room to play with toys on the comfy rug.

We had a great stay! Our favorite part was the outdoor pavilion and fireplace.

The cabins are perfect for a stay on the black river. The location is free of light pollution. You can see the stars, walk to the river, there is a kitchen, barbecue grill, fire pit. I will be back!

I booked this for a personal retreat so I could work on some life planning, get some writing in, and be out in nature to reconnect with my body. This place is a great location for accessing nature, and Michelle and Scott were wonderful! Because this is hosted by Evolve I expected it to be a little sterile, but the folks who live on the property and rehabbed the cabin were totally lovely and helpful and obviously put a lot of care into the place. It felt private and safe and it was nice to have the owners nearby. Lots of nature sounds, including owls. It rocked! I put a 4 star for check in because Google Maps did not take me to the right spot on the Highway since it is a newer address listing, but looking up the addresses listed on the mailboxes led me to the right place and it was a breeze from there. Would love to stay again!
