although due to weather, I wasn't able to make it Any was still super sweet, thoughtful, very prompt on all communication. She had suggested nearby sightings and was cautious on weather we had had. Hopeful to reschedule in the future. ❤️

My Mom, sisters and I recently stayed at Dave and Sara's 'Lake of Egypt Hilltop Retreat' for a girls' weekend, and we had a great time! The cozy property has beautiful views of Lake of Egypt and it's really a serene setting. The accommodations were great for our group. We really loved the open-concept living and dining area where we were able to gather comfortably to chat, share meals, and relax after exploring the area. The fully equipped kitchen made meal prep a breeze. We weren't able to fully enjoy the outdoor space with the deck and firepit due to the bitterly cold temps and rain, but we hope to be able to enjoy both during our next stay. The retreat's location was ideal, offering a peaceful escape while still being close (20-min drive) to plenty of activities. We loved exploring the nearby trails in Shawnee National Forest and some cute breakfast spot and antique shops. This was the perfect setting for quality time with my Mom and sisters. We have a big family and needed a place we would all fit in together and a place just to get away from the busy life, and this place hit the spot! We enjoyed the paddle boat and kayak on the water. We fished and blew bubbles, and took a million pictures. We sat on the back porch swing taking in the views. We played cornhole and board games and ate smores. We ate meals together and enjoyed movies on the roku tv's. We loved the sunroom views, and the kids loved the space to play and run. I also really liked that the place wasn't cluttered with unnecessary decor. I have 5 kids, and 3 of them are under 5 years old, so it was nice not to have to worry about breaking stuff. It was amazing. The only issue I ran into was that i could not figure out how to turn on the oven, but I messaged the host and he got back to me within seconds. He was very helpful and kind. He even offered to help us with the boat if we needed it. We had a wonderful time and will be staying again in the future.

If I could give it more the 5 stars, I would! Beautiful, cozy home. Fully stocked kitchen, games, movies, etc. Sheri was so helpful and made us feel appreciated and accommodated. Will definitely be back!

Joan’s place was beyond peaceful and private. The patio and yard were beautiful. The cottage was cozy and clean, appreciated the binder of local recommendations. We appreciate our dog being welcomed, also. Thank you for the great place!

Can't say enough about our weekend at Brian's house. Fantastic! He was incredibly responsive and generous. We were there for a wedding and 6 of us stayed and had a lovely time. Thank you!!!

This was the 2nd time I stayed here. It was a great weekend! Close to some great hiking spots. Evenings were my favorite, hanging out back under the pine trees listening to the wildlife. Very peaceful and relaxing. We will be back again.

This is a perfect little cottage near the lake. It had everything we needed, including nice outdoor patio spaces for eating and a big firepit. You can't see much of the lake from the cottage, but it's easy to get to - across a quiet road and down a very long flight of stairs. There's a nice big dock for fishing, swimming, star gazing at night, boating, and just relaxing and enjoying the view (it's a particularly scenic section of the lake because there is no development on the other side of the water - just forest!). We loved having access to kayaks and enjoyed fishing off the dock. Would love to return in summer when we can swim and do even more water activities!

A very beautiful and spacious house with a beautiful landscape
