While I rate this place as a 5 Star I would recommend anyone planning to stay here check to ensure all the beds are in working order and usable since one bed (a pull out) in living room was nonfunctional and another bed on the first floor was just a 6-8 inch futon-type mattress on a thin base so basically just off the floor but not something I would consider a bed. The local handyman was able to help us get the bedding necessary to use the sofa as an alternative bed downstairs. I would recommend checking around the cabin to ensure there will be enough paper products to last the entire stay. The location is great, the house has a wonderful layout and kitchen for a large gathering with plenty of covered parking and very quiet setting in the country. I would recommend this place but just be aware of the items I mentioned earlier. One last thing, the house rules are very interesting and would explain why there are only about 16 5 star reviews and zero less than 5 star reviews over 6 year…

We absolutely adored The Shack! Everything was perfect and Eric & Dawn were so helpful with any questions we had. They really made the process as smooth as possible. We can’t wait for our next trip to come back and stay here!

Very comfortable place to relax and unwind. Spent a week with family and enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and brick wood fired pizza oven!!

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay, easy to talk to and very responsive.

The place was exactly what we were looking for—peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by nature. It was very clean and spacious, and the pool was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the weather changed on us, so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool as much as we’d hoped. Still, we loved the atmosphere, especially the sound of birds singing in the background. The amenities were amazing, and the thoughtful gift in the fridge was such a nice extra touch. We’d definitely love to come back when it’s warmer to fully enjoy the pool and the serene setting.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home! The house was spacious, well-decorated, and perfect for our family. The pool was a fantastic bonus, and the hospitality was top-notch. The beds were very comfortable, and we especially loved the vanities in the rooms. It’s a great family-friendly home, and we would definitely return. An excellent stay—highly recommend

We absolutely loved our stay here as did our guests. We were in town from South Texas for our daughter's wedding at a nearby venue and thoroughly enjoyed staying in the home with family members not from Texas. It was the Longhorn and wide open pasture outside that sold me on the place and our CA, AZ and HI family members were in awe of the Texas style home and cattle. The home might only have 3 bedrooms, but the house, patios and pool offer plenty of space to relax and enjoy. We played pool in the game room and enjoyed the pool outside. We took advantage of everything the home had to offer with family that we seldom get to visit with (several of whom stayed in hotels). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and serving. And don't forget to visit the Adams Tack Shop within view of the house. It has clothing, jewelry and everything livestock and pets. The Longhorns are enjoyable to watch and they come up to the fence to drink water 2-3 times a day.
