Wow. This is an amazing home in a gorgeous, quiet, forested location. We didn’t feel crowded at all, and we had six friends enjoying the house for several days! A great deal, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully curated inside/outside spaces. We were a bit surprised by how the 2018 road closure from S Point affected this area, and Pahoa in general, making it a long drive from any activities. Matt was friendly, responsive, and everything was clear and easy to understand. We’re so grateful!

This was a wonderful start to our Hawaiian vacation. The breeze from the ocean and the sound of the crashing waves next to the home was so peaceful. The home was located centrally to the things we had planned to do. The rain showers were very relaxing and the home was a great place to rest our bodies after busy days. We were even greeted by whales just off the shore in front of the home’s lanai on our first morning.

We loved Robert and Erinn’s place! Charming home in our favorite neighborhood near Hilo! Loved watching the sunrise across the street on the beach. Perfect location. It was just my daughter and me and we felt very safe. Would love to stay again! Thank you!

My group of eight stayed at the Kehena Moana and couldn’t have asked for a better home base for our vacation. When we arrived, Caleb and his sweet dog Jerry met gave us a tour of the property. We were thrilled that each couple could have our own luxurious room and bathroom, and a couple rooms even had clear views of the ocean. The kitchen/living room space was massive and clean, and well stocked - we cooked there most nights. The bnb is a 2 min walk away from a clothing optional black sand beach where we swam daily (carefully, as the shore break can be intense). We loved our time there, and would definitely stay at Caleb’s place again if given the chance! The only advice I’d give to others is to bring earplugs, as the coqui frogs can be pretty loud at night. I slept fine without, but my husband used them every night.

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy and well-appointed home! The highlight was undoubtedly the stunning tropical ocean view—we even spotted whales and dolphins right from the deck! The location is fantastic, just a short walk to a breathtaking black sand beach (clothing-optional), though swimming is best for strong swimmers. The home is comfortable and has everything needed for a relaxing stay. As expected in the tropics, the environment can be a bit tough on materials, but that’s just part of the charm of being in such a beautiful, natural setting. The host communicated really well and has done a great job keeping the space welcoming and well-equipped. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway immersed in nature, this is a fantastic spot. We would absolutely stay again!

Incredible place and prime locations. Just walk across the street and you're at the beach. Walk a little to the left and you're at another beach with a huge wading pool. Kids loved snorkeling there. And, although I didn't know at the time of booking, the side and backyard is huge with lush tropical plants. Felt like we were in Costa Rica! As previous guests mentioned, the upstairs is apart from downstairs, with a separate side entrance (they are not connected). But there are no visible neighbors due to all the trees, so I don't know why other reviewers mentioned neighbors being loud. Such is not the case at all; but the beach across the street is public, so it gets crowded during the day. Felt completely safe the whole time.

Wow, what an amazing property. The view was stunning. So many nice spots to sit and hang out. Well stocked home. We had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable. I would love to come back here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Michael’s tropical oasis! Mornings were super peaceful sitting on the comfy porch, enjoying a cup of coffee, and listening to the birds and ocean. Michael communicated proactively and throughout our stay. Great proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! There was a welcome basket with local fruits and treats that was a touching extra we really enjoyed! Michael’s home was clean and comfortable and we highly recommend anyone traveling to the Hilo side of the Big Island to stay!

Home and location were both very private and peaceful . The property itself was beyond beautiful ! To go to sleep and wake up hearing all the different birds , frogs, roosters were just peaceful . I even made friends with Snow(the white cat) and paquita (the chicken ) 😅 enjoyed the pool, enjoyed making breakfast and eating outside in the back with the pool and yard view . I can really go on and on . The host was just amazing and responsive !!! Can’t wait to revisit. Mahalo

This is a great place to stay if a person is looking for a remote oasis. house is very cleaned, stocked with essentials, amazing pool to dip into. The views and location are breathtaking. There were a few lights that were burnt out , but not a major concern for us. overall this place exceeded expectations with location and amenities. It is a bit of a drive everywhere but we knew this going into this trip. grocery store is within 15 minutes for items , so it wasn't a concern for us. Wpuld definitely recommend !

Easy access to the coast. Beautiful surroundings. Great amenities at the home. Enjoyed the pool and the grill daily.

Beautiful home and wonderful host. We had everything we needed or could ask for. Mari was a perfect host answering any questions, providing many local recommendations and even met us at checkin to show us her home. The view was magnificent, opening the doors in the morning and sipping on coffee on the deck watching the sun rise was my daily ritual. It was a nice surprise to have chairs and snorkeling equipment available to us. Grocery and Walmart minutes away for quick pickup items. The must see sights were just 10-20 minutes away. We visited the caves, snorkeling in the bay, national park and the gardens.

We had a delightful stay and really savored the peaceful location. The stars were so bright every night and the sunrises were dreamy. I highly recommend walking to the viewpoint nearby it was breathtaking.

Susan’s home is simple yet comfortable. We were a party of 6, 2 couples and 2 individuals. There was plenty of space for us to gather and still have individual bedrooms and bathrooms. The views from the property were majestic!! The pool was pristine! I truly have to say we were VERY pleased!! If I were to comment about individual preferences (mine & our party’s) some of the beds/bedding were not as comfortable as others, the coffee pots were small, there isn’t a microwave or blender in the main home. We felt the kitchen was minimally equipped but has the necessities…We purchased floor fans which definitely helped to circulate the air and cool the house at night. We were also a little surprised that there were not any beach supplies for use. We purchased bag chairs and a cooler from Walmart and donated to a local friend on the island. That being said, there is no beach access but the view from the cliff is unbeatable! Would I stay again? ABSOLUTELY!!! MAHALO, Susan!!!

Very beautiful home and lots of room for many people to stay. Host is very responsive with any questions/concerns. Very clean as well with lots of things you may need such as beach towels, cooler, water toys etc. Location is very private as well if that's what you're looking for. Just fyi it is ocean front but you cannot get to the ocean from location in case you are looking for that. You can see whales if you look closely which was very cool! Overall great stay for our first time using Airbnb!

What an amazing place to stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our days at this exquisite tea house. Comfortable bed and furniture in general. Esthetically so pleasing! Compact kitchen, but all the basic needs are there. Lynne even had thoughtfully left 6 starter eggs for us. Flowers on the table!

We just had the best family trip to Hawaii, and it was because of this magical place! The property is beautiful- on a gorgeous orchid, super private, and with a nice little path to walk and explore. The house is huge. We had 12 people (3 families), and it was very comfortable. Everyone had plenty of space, and most of the bedrooms even have 2 beds, which was really convenient. One of the best parts was that every bedroom had its own bathroom, so there was no waiting around for showers or getting ready. The kitchen was amazing—commercial appliances and even a griddle! There’s also plenty of space to hang out, both inside and outside, which was perfect for our group. Also, the rooms are pretty soundproof. We had a baby with us, and no one heard her crying at night. Overall I HIGHLY recommend staying here if you want a relaxing stay with lots of space for a large group. Moon was so nice and responsive and even brought us extra towels during our stay.

This place was very magical. Loved the area and the ability to be near the coast. This was truly off grid and peaceful! Loved stargazing from the roof at night. I really appreciate all of the details that Tabitha has around the place. All of the essentials needed to have a relaxing stay.

Jeff’s listing was a really cute plantation house located conveniently to all things on Hilo side. The host was very communicative and helped us with any questions and concerns and we appreciated it very much. Very peaceful and even made a few gecko friends

Nice private space with plenty of room. Loved the outdoor living space/ lanai area. Didn’t realize the kitchen and master bedroom were all one open space based on photos but it still worked well for us.

Our family of four enjoyed this beautiful vacation rental - the sunrise is absolutely amazing to wake up to. The kids were very comfortable on the pull-out sofa and we appreciated being so close to markets and restaurants in Hilo, as well as a few mins walk from the local beach. We'd happily stay here again.

This is our second time in Delia's Octagon house (which is actually 12-sided. We love the incredible screened porch with a wonderful view. The house itself is unique and hand made, and has a wonderful "vibe". Delia is kind and while she lives in the house next door, never bothers her guests. You don't even know she's there.
