would definately book again. only downside of cowrie shells is that you always gotta take a tuktuk boda or cab to reach a supermarket, bar or restaurant.

Great stay overall—very friendly staff and great location near several restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket, and beaches. Host can be a bit slow to respond but not a big issue as we didn’t have major problems. Would definitely stay again.

I can’t recommend this place enough! My stay was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The beach is just 10 steps away, and the sunrises and sunsets were nothing short of magical—a dream for anyone who loves the ocean. The property was exactly as shown in the pictures, if not better, with a tranquil and charming ambiance that made it feel like a true escape. The location is perfect—right in the heart of Watamu and close to everything, including restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Despite being so central, the space was peaceful and relaxing, offering the best of both worlds. Ann and her team were incredible—always available and attentive, ensuring my stay was smooth and stress-free. The cleanliness of the property was outstanding, which added to the comfort. The amenities were fantastic, with highlights including a beautiful swimming pool that was perfect for cooling off after a day at the beach. Everything was thoughtfully designed to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Thank you Marsellah for a lovely stay! It was my first time in Mombasa and I didn’t know what to expect, but Dan and Marsellah were responsive and the place was neat and squeaky clean. The house has every you’d need and is accessible (though Uber/Bolt is generally tough to get in the area so make sure you have Yego/Little Cab).

We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is very spacious and has a beautiful view out the balconies with constant sea breezes and the sound of the surf. We appreciated Maggy’s service in cleaning and providing potable water each day. There are several beaches within walking distance including many restaurants, shops, and groceries. We especially enjoyed the gelato shop just down the street. Both Deborah and Maggy were very responsive via text. A couple of things we did not expect but could be useful information beforehand: there is no washer in the apartment, so laundry is done by Maggy for a fee of 1100 ksh per load. Also, there is hot water and great water pressure in the showers, but we noticed that hot water wasn’t consistent after 6pm. We had it after 6pm about half the nights. We asked Maggy about this and the water heater seemed to be working, so this seemed a bit of a mystery to us. However neither of these issues detracted from our wonderful stay.

It was amazing and quiet. We were so close to the small vipingo town so it was possible to get fresh veggies, Meat and fish, plus the beach was only 5 minutes away. I would recommend having access to a car or bike because we had to drive 30 minutes to either Kilifi town or Mtwapa get to the supermarket plus it was a 5 minute drive to vipingo beach bar. other than that a few electricity inconveniences I would 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy a weekend

Loved our stay at Mahine's place. We would definitely recommend! Timely response from Mahine in case of issues or requests. Beautiful scenery, access to the white sandy beach, several swimming pools to accommodate the many people who’ve chosen to stay there for the gem that the place is. The little ones are also well taken care of with the various baby pools and kids play and entertainment areas. Very family friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

I love the location and the apartment was nice. It’s located at the very end of Bamburi beach which makes it very peaceful. There is a decent restaurant just downstairs by the beach. Just be aware that you are reliant on taxis or your own transportation when staying here because it’s located at the end of a long dirt road which is not suitable to walk after dark. All in all it’s a great place and I would love to come back!

I had the most wonderful solo retreat at this charming studio in Mtwapa! From the moment I arrived, the host and their staff made me feel incredibly welcome. The studio is beautifully designed, cozy, and peaceful—perfect for a relaxing getaway. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the decor created such a calm atmosphere. The staff were always friendly and attentive, making my stay even more enjoyable. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in Mtwapa!
