Lewes District : séjours à la ferme

A lovely few days in a beautiful part of the world. Our first time away with our 7 week old baby and the hosts made everything very easy for us. It was an ideal place, superbly hosted in lovely surroundings.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you to Melanie who was the most welcoming host. The place is beautiful, quiet, surrounded by nature, horses, and cute sheep. A very serene, gorgeous environment, right at the doorstep of the South Downs. The kitchen was very well equipped, the place was impeccably clean, and all the rooms were spacious and well decorated. We arrived at nighttime so it made finding the place slightly difficult, but trusted Melanie's instructions and we found it in no time!

We had a wonderful quiet few days spent chatting and enjoying the beautiful surroundings the area had to offer. For a quiet getaway I could not recommend enough.

We were 4 friends, a daughter and 2 dogs. We booked at very short notice (the morning of the stay) as our ferry to Guernsey was cancelled due to the weather. Rachel was very responsive to taking our booking and getting the cleaners arranged. The property is very beautiful and spacious with a larger kitchen and dining area. The entrance door is the smallest I have seen and it felt we were entering a large Bilbo Baggins hobbit house. Plenty of parking space for our 3 cars. Plenty of kitchen equipment, crockery, glasses and fridge space. We sat in the large lounge and watched the 6 Nations Rugby when it rained and had wonderful walks on a few beaches. There is an excellent butchers 5 minutes away and also fantastic fresh fish at a Hastings fishmongers. We had a great time celebrating a friend’s birthday and I highly recommend this place.

This was our third time staying at The Barn and we will certainly be back again! We instantly feel settled and comfortable in this perfect set-up. It’s located in the most amazing spot with cute shops and restaurants at your doorstep. Our dog feels super comfortable being there and having the small garden is ideal. Cath is delightful and responsive with her messages. We felt very welcomed and were grateful for the thoughtful touches on arrival. Can’t wait for visit number four!

Bar an issue that was resolved - the stay was lovely. A very nice cottage with all the things you would need to have a pleasant stay. We actually walked from Petersfield and managed without a car [so definitely doable]. Location was perfect for us - with lots of walks and the pubs weren't too far away. Elizabeth gave us a lovely welcome and it was obvious she really cares about her guests and their enjoyment. Would happily stay here again.

Lovely long weekend. The accomodation was as listed, everything was super clean, loads of local information available, and with the extra bonus of breakfast items provided.

Beautiful place to stay, lovely and secluded but also well located for Rye and other local spots. Charlotte was great with local recommendations and it was great to have all the extra bits for our baby as well.

Wonderful barn conversion. It was one of those places when you start dreaming about having it as your own holiday home. We bought all we needed from the Cranbrook Farm Shop. We had an apero at the Bijou Bar and dinner at the Willow&Sage in Cranbrook. Both were brilliant! If you are planning to vist local wineries make sure you book your taxis in advance. Biddenden Cars and St Michaels Car Hire were the most relaiable. Thanks a million, Susanna, for our wonderful stay!

Sophie & Ed were absolutely amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Their Barn is beautifully designed and set out, it is comfortable and had everything and more in it that I needed for a four night stay. The location was a 2 min drive from where I needed to be so it was perfect for travelling to and fro and lovely to come back to after a long day to rest in. Thank you.

Ingela’s beautiful house is located on a quiet farm. There are so much about this amazing house. Rooms are super tidy and clean. Kitchen is very well equipped . There are kids and adult broad games , books. To our surprise, we even played table tennis and pool. Viewing from house its self is picturesque. House is very warm . So can simple have so much fun by staying just in side the house. Ingela has given us lots of suggestions about things to do , place to go, nice walks etc. Nick and Ingela had been so helpful and responsive . It was a pleasure to stay at this beautiful house, it was such relaxing place to stay. I would highly recommend anyone to come and have a few quiet and relax days to get recharged😉

The Hayloft is a lovely cosy relaxing place, Amanda is very friendly and welcoming and has lots of knowledge of the local area, we had a great break with our children and dogs, watching the chickens in the garden and being able to see the horses from the kitchen window is a bonus , can’t wait to visit again .

We had the most wonderful stay at this property! Peaceful location surrounded by countryside walks and with a nearby cosy pub, spotless accommodation, comfortable bed and sofa - a perfect home from home!

Very happy with our choice of the Cottage, very close to our own properties , so more than likely we will try and stay there again not because what i just said but its so peaceful as well and that is very important to us as a family, it also contained all and more desirable amenities you need. Perhaps if there is something I would add to the cottage service I personally would in a hot day of a guest arriving,( like us) I would make sure to leave the windows upstairs open to create a cooler ambience . When we arrived ( end of the day) it was just like in Dubai -) very hot! Many thanks

I visited there with my parents and my baby and we absolutely loved this place. Beautiful house with everything you need, should say more beautiful than the pictures. We were lucky to see sunshine and the snowfall both during our stay and with those large glass floor to ceiling windows it was pleasure. The house was very spacious and my baby loved it as he got so much to explore and running around. Tony was very helpful and responsive for any queries we had. We will definitely visit again.

We had a fabulous couple of nights at the Cow Shed, the instructions Caroline left were really clear and made the place very easy to find. Comfy bed, cosy fireplace and everything we needed for a lovely weekend away. The location was great, a 5-minute drive to the Pantiles and some tasty recommendations in the guest book. Thank you!

We had a wonderful weekend stay at this charming cottage! It’s even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The space is generous, and the underfloor heating was an absolute treat. The shower had fantastic water pressure and maintained a perfect temperature throughout, though I did find the towels a bit smaller than I prefer. The double bed mattress was a bit on the firm side, and the frame was slightly flimsy— we had to adjust the legs underneath during our stay. The surrounding area is stunning, and we absolutely loved meeting the dogs, pigs, and ponies. The property instructions were clear, and the hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming. Overall, a fantastic stay!

The Piggery is a really cosy, comfortable space, and has everything you need. Loved the little touches especially - the extra towels for the hot tub, the eggs / milk / bread, the sweets! Clair really thought of everything. She came to say hi on arrival and was really helpful with local recommendations too - we had a lovely walk that she suggested and we went to a couple of lovely pubs within a 5 minute drive. My wife and I had a great and peaceful stay over New Year's Eve. We explored the area and can highly recommend the accommodation. It is a bit chilly in winter, but there was a portable electric heating. In addition, the road to the accommodation is very adventurous, at least in the last few hundred meters you have to hope that no one comes towards you. The beds are a bit soft, but many people like that. Otherwise everything was perfect and Gill is a wonderful, very friendly host! Thank you very much and see you next time!

I stayed at Andrew's place for a week with my husband and 3 year old son and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The open kitchen/lounge area works well with young children. The wood burner had a sturdy safety gate and all plug sockets had protective covers. It's well placed for visiting the local area. Plenty of national trust properties nearby and we drove the Heart of Kent route one day. Port Lympe zoo is also brilliant. Unfortunately, our son became ill during our stay so we had to cut our stay short by a couple of days. Despite that, my son hasn't stopped talking about our stay at Long Stable and will be booking a return stay in the near future. Marie, Oli and Alfie.

Jo was a great host so friendly and very welcoming , Jo even sent useful videos of how to find the house . The house was beautiful so spacious and comfortable with beautiful gardens . The kitchen was so well equipped there was everything I needed to cook a birthday dinner for my mum . The info folders at the house were great and answered any questions we had . We really enjoyed our stay from start to finish .

The cottage was lovely, perfect for what we needed. Its was very clean, well equipped, beds are extremely comfortable. Sally was a great host, very responsible and accommodating, especially with our checkin and checkout times and what to do in the area. There are beatiful walks nearby and the beach is a 15min drive. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks Sally! X
