If you are looking for somewhere to pause, breathe & smile then the Noddle is for you. A real opportunity to switch off & enjoy Island life. An eco friendly home with all mod cons if you need them but this is a real opportunity to step away. There’s one shop on the Island of Hoy which opens in the morning & afternoon about 30 minutes across the Island so do bring most of what you need as there are two fridges & a freezer. There is also a regular ferry service for Island hopping so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

A beautifully maintained property and spotlessly clean. The framed poems by John Horne, a local poet and former resident of the cottage, were a lovely touch. We made use of the neat little garden, and were able to sit with a cup of coffee in the evening sunshine. Lorna thought of everything we might need and was generous in the 'treats' she left for us to enjoy. We felt right at home.

This was a lovely house and a good base for exploring Caithness. The house was well equipped, the beds were very comfortable and the showers were hot. The house was lovely and warm to combat the chilly weather outside! Our hosts were friendly and check in / check out was simple. There was plenty of room for the 10 people in our party. Our children particularly enjoyed the sand dunes at Dunnet Bay and rock pooling at Ham Harbour - even in the rain. There was a nice walk from nearby Lybster Harbour along the cliff tops.

We absolutely loved our stay, the cottage was everything we wanted and looked for. Evelyn is a fantastic host and provides an amazing cottage to stay in. Immaculate, peaceful and the best location, only a few minutes from Stromness. We will be back.

The family and I had an amazing time staying with Martin. He is a lovely gentleman, super welcoming and a fantastic host. We had booked this stay as part of our NC500 trip and it was a decision well made. Couldn’t have asked for more. The apartment was spotless and a lot bigger than we had thought. There was no issue for room with the four of us. We felt well cared for to the point it felt we were staying with family. We would recommend Martin to anyone, defiantly would stay here again.

Brian's place in Tankerness was just great and Brian was a great host who answered questions quickly. Very beautiful view out the back windows and very peaceful location. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for lounging. Easy drive to Kirkwall. If you are very lucky the local farm cat will come and intoduce himself. He is a charmer. If we are ever lucky enough to visit Orkney again we wouldn't hesitate to stay at Valkyrie.

We absolutely loved staying at the Bothy! The surroundings are breathtaking and the nearby cliffs are perfect for a long walk! The apartment was spotless and there were lovely recommendations left by Gem and Ike and a nice welcome gift :) a perfect weekend!

I had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Orphir. The place was absolutely impeccable—spotlessly clean, well-organized, and equipped with everything needed for cooking, cleaning, and beyond. It was clear that great care had been taken to ensure guests feel comfortable. Louise, the host, was welcoming and proactive, making the check-in process seamless and ensuring I had everything I needed throughout my stay. Orphir is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway, but a car is recommended for reaching supermarkets or larger towns. The apartment is ideal for families of four and feels like a luxurious treat for singles or couples. Highly recommended.

Very helpful host, who made sure we found our way after arriving in the dark. Very comfortable stay, with everything we needed. Flexible heating, which was just what we needed, as the two of us who stayed like rooms at two different temperatures. Lovely and clean. Comfortable. Patient and friendly host.

Lovely place to stay, Graham has thought of everything for your arrival. Pictures don’t do it justice of how spacious the living area actually is. Very peaceful and quiet area. So close to the town and shops and night life if you need it. Would highly recommend, Graham is a lovely host who is happy to respond promptly to queries.

Fantastic! I’ve stayed in a lot of different types of accommodation over the years but this was the best. Immaculate in every way and very thoughtfully presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or go back to this property. Ten minute walk to the town centre. Friendly host next door but didn’t intrude. You won’t be disappointed!

We have stayed in a lot of properties in Thurso and this is by far the best one we have stayed in, we would highly recommend. Plenty of space and everything you could need during your stay. Exceptionally clean and easy access. We have already booked for our next stay.

We were two couples exploring the Highlands and had a wonderful stay at Marie’s place! The home was exactly as described — clean, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared with everything we needed. The location was perfect for exploring the area, and quite near to John’o Groats. Marie and John are a cute couple. They welcomed us wholeheartedly and were too sweet, kind and responsive throughout our stay. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting!

Perfect stay, beautiful location and well equipped, spotless

Leona”s place is spacious, warm and comfortable. It is well equipped and a great location to visit the local Neolithic sites, Stromness and Kirkwall. There is great access to the local Loch. I would definitely stay again.

The property was an ideal location if arriving in Kirkwall by ferry and hoping to explore the Orkney Isles. Really peaceful location, despite being walking distance to the town centre and all the amenities. The property was well equipped, the host provided everything you could need for an enjoyable break. We'd definitely go back when we return to Orkney :)

Amazing ! We never met people as sweet as the couple that host this house ! We arrived late in Orkeys islands and they came to meet us in Kirkwall to drive us to their home. Very helpful and caring ! The beds were comfy and the bathroom very clean ! We recommend ! Lia & Hakemi
