Our stay at little Fenn was lovely. Perfect location not too far from the motorway secluded enough to make you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere - which me and my little family wanted! Added extras like snacks and milk for my daughter were so thoughtful. We have stayed in a few air bnbs and this was by far decorated to the highest standard I’ve seen! Hot tub was ready for use despite a few set backs during their renovation. Great communication with host, can’t wait to come back in the summer :)

A lovely and cozy cottage in the countryside! Beautiful location, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The check-in was smooth, and everything was just as described. Perfect for a getaway—highly recommend!

Was already impressed with the pictures on the listing but the property exceeded my expectations. Somehow it was better than the pictures would suggest!! Secluded, clean, charming, comfortable, spacious, characterful. Beautiful views. Friendly donkeys. Immaculate gardens. Tranquil walks. The most equipped kitchen you can imagine. We were a group of 8 and everyone felt at home instantly. The one thing I would say is that the hot tub certainly needs pre-heating before you arrive if you intend using it the day you get there- it took at least 8 hours+ of rigorous attention to the wood fire to reach temperature. Overall a truly memorable and lovely stay. Thank you.

Amanda’s cottage is beautiful and is in a great location. The surroundings are peaceful, and this is a great destination for a relaxing weekend away. Amanda is very accommodating as a host and was always very prompt with responses to queries. We were provided with a lovely welcome basket which was a nice treat to receive on arrival. Check in and check out was very straight forward and instructions for this were clear. The hot tub and outdoor area is so nice and relaxing, with a lovely view of the countryside. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept with ease. I would definitely recommend staying here for a wholesome weekend away in the countryside.

What a lovely little cottage with a beautiful view!! We went with our 1 year old twins for a mini moon and had the best time. Rowland was a great host, he sent clear instructions on check in / tide times etc, good communication and gave lots of recommendations for local places to eat / drink etc This is located next to a pub with really good food and an amazing pizza place we ate in along with lots of other good fish restaurants with a short walk to the high street. West mersea is small but with everything you need and relaxing vibe. We took the kids in Colchester one day to a pool and isn’t too far away. We would 100% recommend and would love to visit again. We had a lovely stay in beautiful surroundings. The cottage was perfect for our needs. Mark was an excellent host who ensured we were comfortable and well informed about the local area.

Adam welcomed us on arrival and was friendly and accommodating. When we needed to contact them about a couple of minor things, they were responded very quickly and dealt with any small issues immediately. Very friendly and provided local information. Accommodation was as expected, presented well - a 400 year old cottage with quirky, rustic and therefore in keeping decoration. Well appointed and plenty of kitchen accessories for cooking in if that's what you want to do. A lovely welcome pack provided :-) Nice pub over the road, beautiful walks to local villages with other great places to eat, a good location for a relaxing and walking and admiring the local scenery.. Area popular with bird watchers it seems (being right on the estuary...) Some road noise outside as the cottage is right on the road, but you soon get used to this if you're not already.

We had a lovely relaxing few days at the property. Weather was good, but got caught in a sleet downpour during a walk. Visited the local pub which is right on the river… lovely views

Really good place, there was some dog hair on the sofa but at the end of the day you live on a farm so I was expecting something but this really triggered one of my colleagues allergies. Overall the place is well worth the visit and I would highly recommend.

Very cute place in the English countryside with amazing charm. The cottage has recently been refurbished and feels like a movie set (think ‘The Holiday’ but with the home feeling of a cozy retreat). The decor was beautifully done, capturing the essence of a traditional English cottage while offering modern comforts. The location was serene and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend this charming cottage to anyone seeking a relaxing escape in the countryside. Absolutely indispensable to have a car AND review the checking pictures well in order to find the place

This is a delightful find: quiet, private and in a lovely spot with walks from the door. The private sunny garden was a real bonus.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Stable. The photos when we booked looked amazing but in reality it was superb. The bed and settee were super comfy and all the TV set up was great. We had amazing weather for April so really enjoyed the little sun trap of a garden. The lights at night were so pretty. Going to get some for home. The kitchen had everything we needed. Little goodies left by Greg were very nice. Our little dog was very well behaved and enjoyed his holiday too. The stable is in good walking distance to everywhere in Southend. We walked miles both ways on the beach. Luckily we came before 1st May because after that till September dogs are not allowed on the beaches. And that would have been a game changer for us. All in all it is a lovely little cottage. Designed beautifully well done.

Chisholm’s was absolutely gorgeous, filled with character and such a lovely place for a quiet getaway. The grounds are so beautiful and there is a very cute and friendly doggo around to spot too. The property itself is lovely, very well presented and cozy- a lot of thought has obviously gone into how to make things lovely for guests. Within short driving distance of places like Dedham, Manningtree and Mistley so we also visited some excellent restaurants. Polly herself is super friendly and nice, very responsive to messages and it was overall a lovely experience.

Fantastic cottage in idyllic location. Photos do not do it justice - it’s a beautiful cottage, full of character and charm. Lovely garden too. Had a wonderful stay and communication was excellent.

Very cosy and moments away from some great pubs and restaurants. I would warn taller guests to be careful of how low the ceilings and door frames are – stoop or else you will end up with a sore head! The kitchen is also fairly sparsely equipped, but fine for self-catering for a couple of days. Garden small, but nice to sit in. Some street noise too, usually from people leaving the pub, but nothing to keep you awake at night.

Lovely place to stay for a week whilst visiting family who live locally. There are lots of over places to visit all within easy travel distance from the cottage. The Cottage was very cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The views from the cottage over the Thames are amazing and a great way to start the morning by relaxing and enjoying a coffee. The kids enjoyed the games room and been able to play football on the field. Communication and instructions from the host was excellent throughout the week. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely time staying at Amanda’s. The place was spotlessly clean and tastefully done out. It was well equipped with all we needed - also so warm and cosy even in a cold February! There are lots of places to explore within driving distance. It wasn’t too difficult to find and check in was easy. We really hope to visit again sometime soon 😊 we had a great stay!

Beautiful cottage with lots of character. Location was excellent with amazing views from the enclosed garden. We had a lovely relaxing weekend, plenty of fresh air and walks with the dog. Vanessa was a great host, providing us with clear and useful info re the property, check in etc.. Thank you for the milk and snacks provided on arrival.

Beautiful little cosy cottage , plenty of character and the bedding is 5 stars ! Wood burner, thank you for the ready wood inside , easy to get it on . Great pub at proximity and nice little shop near too . I will definitely come back soon . Thank you Duncan !

We very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely, clean and welcoming. Set in a beautiful location and the accommodation has been finished to a high standard. Beds are super comfy, WiFi and heating were amazing and everything we needed was available. Only problem we should have booked 4 nights ;)
