Rita's place is just amazing. The renovated barn combined with modern architecture, huge windows and beautiful garden is very extraordinary. Is is located very peacefully so be ready to navigate a few narrow streets to get there but absolutely worth it. Rita was waiting for us and explained everything there was to know about the house, and she arranged for daily deliveries of excellent sandwiches each morning. She was also very flexible with check-in and check-out, I can highly recommend this place!

The house is located in a very beautiful place. We are very grateful that we were able to spend part of our vacation in this house. The area where the house is located is very peaceful. In our opinion, the most beautiful area we saw along the Douro River.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay - and Anabela was incredibly helpful with advice on what to do and where to go and was always ahead of anything we might need - before we even thought of it. We loved the place - it was perfect for our family of 3 adults and one child (10 years). The location was incredible with views across the valley and looking into a peaceful and beautiful yard. Our first day was sunny and we were able to enjoy the big yard, pool and porch, with a wander through town. And when the rain set in the house was still very warm and cozy with the pellet stove, heaters in the main rooms and the hallway - and we were able to enjoy our time inside and soak up the views through the raindrops. Definitely recommend - it was a great price for the incredible service, amazing views and cozy setting. We hope to come back!

We had a fabulous stay here with my husband and our young baby. Our hosts had a crib and high chair ready to go and everything went smoothly. Diogo gave us a great guided wine tasting and we took time to walk the property which is very peaceful. The town itself is very charming compared to the bigger cities in the valley. We found it a great jumping off point to see the region. Would gladly stay again.

Noites tranquilas, sem qualquer barulho e ainda conseguimos ter a oportunidade de ver uma raposa que ali passava perto do local: foi uma visão muito bonita e que só demonstra o quão real é o ponto "Natureza e tranquilidade". Queremos voltar e repetir a experiência! Foram super simpáticos e prestáveis o tempo todo! Nota: O jacuzzi é confortável mas aconselhamos que o liguem umas boas horas antes de quererem utilizar porque é normal demorar a aquecer ehehe

Ótimos anfitriões, fizeram-nos sentir em casa. Excelente opção mesmo em altura de inverno. Zona muito calma e boas instalações mesmo para crianças pequenas. Contamos em voltar e recomendamos!

Amazing ! This was everyone we hoped it would be. Such lovely little touches in the home to make it feel very special. Kitchen has all the amenities. It was a treat to have a comfortable king size bed with good linens . And the view ; it was everything you could ask for. Whether sitting on the balcony or looking out the large window from the bed- it was truly spectacular! We found ourselves content just to sit and listen to the church bells and take in the view. It was a short walk to the famous bridge as well as the lovely serine river path. The oldest bakery was a lovely stroll away, as were other bakeries and restaurants. The hosts were incredibly kind , helpful and responsive 👍🏼! If we ever go to Portugal again, we’ll plan our trip around this Airbnb!

Where do I even start?! Staying at Maria's Casa do Rio felt like a magical home away from home. Maria and her sweet dogs gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and gave us a beautiful tour of the property with an overview of its history that you should not miss. She was very accommodating to our check-in time and sensitive to our plans during our stay, which were not many. Since we didn't have much planned for our spur-of-the-moment visit, we were delighted when Maria gave us many suggestions of activities on our own as well as ones with her such as a tour around the area, canoeing, hiking, yoga class, massage, cooking together and so much more. The charm and kind embrace by Maria was otherworldly and an experience in itself that we won't ever forget. If you have any reservations on booking your stay here, you shouldn't because you will not regret a single second at Casa do Rio. Every moment during our stay here is one we will treasure, and we'll be back to visit Maria and her Casa.
