If you’re looking for a peaceful, family and dog friendly, design focused place to stay, this is your spot. The garden was incredible with spring ephemerals and flowering cherry blossoms blowing in the wind. This was the perfect home base for exploring wineries and the Shawnee National Forest. The loft was the perfect spot to set up our young toddler’s pack-n-play, though fair warning that there is little sound insulation from the kitchen and main living to the upstairs while your little one is sleeping. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this glorious pool house again with our babe in tow! 10/10

Our family really enjoyed our stay at this home. It was spacious and cozy. We had wonderful nights together making family meals, playing games, tether ball, and enjoying the hot tub. During the day we explored the nearby Garden of the Gods (a must), Lower Rim Rock, and Cave-in-Rock. We loved our time in the country. As city folk from northern IL, it was fun to see how different and hilly southern IL is!

This is a very cozy place to stay! The place was very clean and Judy is a great host.

although due to weather, I wasn't able to make it Any was still super sweet, thoughtful, very prompt on all communication. She had suggested nearby sightings and was cautious on weather we had had. Hopeful to reschedule in the future. ❤️

The house was very clean and as described, feeling even bigger than we anticipated. There were plenty of cozy towels and the beds were comfortable. My three suburban kids loved running around on the property and relaxing in the hot tub. We enjoyed the proximity to family friendly hiking trails and attractions like Garden of the Gods. Thank you for sharing your house that my family could enjoy together!

We loved our stay at the Jaybird Treehouse. It was perfect for exploring the various parts of the Shawnee National Forest. Kris is so kind and responsive! There were tornado warnings during our stay and she kept us informed and opened her basement to her guests to make sure everyone stayed safe. Our kids loved the trap door to their room and could've spent the whole trip in the treehouse. We took Kris's advice and brought ingredients for the ice cream maker - what a fun treat! Highly recommend the Jaybird Treehouse or any of Kris's other rentals!

Sampson's Mountain is a beautiful and tranquil place. The lodge is enormous and beautiful! Better than we expected! The grounds are amazing! There were little deer that even came up to see us. Really cool place!

My daughter grandson’s and I enjoyed our stay. We rented the four room house and it was extremely huge. Any problems we did have was fixed right away.

Unit looks just like the pics. Way better to stay here vs any of the local hotels. Jim could not have been any more responsive and was a pleasure to deal with..

loved how they had a stocked pond caught a couple large mouth bass using fake bait all thrown back nice little studio with 4 beds

We had another great stay with Tom and Kelley at Mulberry Farms in Carbondale, IL. The big farm house is fantastic as are the grounds and scenery. The house is wonderfully furnished and equipped with everything we needed. We spend every evening sitting around the campfire. The best part of our stay was the friendliness of our hosts. Tom and Kelley treated us like family, and made us feel very welcome. We have stayed there before, and we always look forward to seeing them. They are genuinely good people.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Mansion! Tony and his wife were very attentive to our needs and we were very comfortable during our stay. The mansion and interior decor are fascinating and create a unique and timeless environment; I really felt I had gone back in time many decades; this was such a welcome respite from my life in California. We will certainly always try and book the Mansion for our annual trips to Southern Illinois. I highly recommend the property.

Perfect place for a Shawnee hiking weekend, very helpful host, terrific local recommendations. Plus a tree swing on the back deck overlooking lake and trees. Could have spent an entire day just reading in that spot.

Jessica's place is exactly as advertised. The house is clean and the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. I have stayed with Jessica many times and will continue to do so. Jessica's place is a must stay and ranked at top of my list.

Great space! Loved the bourbon bar that was steps away! Could not have asked for a better place to stay while in Southern IL!

Great location to get around town. The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable, but overall, I'd stay here again if needed.
