We were alone with no city noise surrounded by Mountains in a private setting. It was medicinal to the soul. Nobody bothered us and we could relax. But we were close enough to visit wine farms, buy food and return to braai in the evening. Not to mention the hot tub!!! Worth every penny and much more. We hope to return to this sanctuary. Thank to this wonderful hosts.

Had a lovely stay in the cottage. You are really out in the middle of nowhere, it is quite peaceful and quiet. Beautiful views around and the stars at night were spectacular. The included game drive was great! We saw giraffes, springbok, wildebeast and some antelope on the drive. We also saw zebras while driving on our way out. The bathtub was massive. Nice towels and robes as well. We used the pizza oven and braai and enjoyed the semi catered package. Note - there were a fair amount of flies in and around the cottage and they were quite annoying but bugs were expected with the remote location. I recommend taking a SUV vs a car when driving there.

We absolutely loved our stay in Christi’s mountain retreat. The decor was lovely, the view incredible with not one building or human in sight. Pure bliss and hope we can return again.

This spot ticks all the boxes, private, pristine, beautiful surroundings and view, well situated and, of course, with a fantastic wood fired hottub. It is clear the owners are investing in this cottage. Super near and tidy and very kid friendly as long as kids are supervised not to jump in the pool

We had the most lovely stay at Lalapanzi, the cabin exceeded our expectations and the surroundings and views were so beautiful and tranquil! We will definitely be back soon. Thank you to the hosts for your hospitality!

Wow!!! What a gem of a place!! Unbelievable location and surroundings. This is definitely the place to go to when you want to get out of the city. The owners are just as nice as this place is beautiful. We will definitely be back. I also hope you get to meet Japie - kind soul who loves lamp tjops :) And go find the waterfall!!!!

a great house in a wonderfully quiet area. perfectly and very tastefully furnished. a few minutes from the beach. with a bit of luck you can watch zebras from your bedroom in the morning ... hildegarde and thys are wonderful and helpful hosts. we would love to come back ...

What a lovely stay at Thuula Havens. I’ve been eyeing it for a while, so happy I finally went. It was everything I needed. The communication was clear and so were the check in instructions which we appreciated. As you walk in, the decor makes you at peace, the location is secluded and perfect if you’re looking to switch off from the buzzing of the city. The hot bath was easy to use. The bathrooms are immaculate. I love the 2 shower heads. It’s close to the Hemel en Aarde wine farms which are lovely. I’d recommend anyone to experience Thuula Havens. Ps. It is in nature and there’s a beehive and you get occasional visits from the bees (which we welcomed).

My stay at River Song was a wonderful experience. The location is absolutely out of this world – right on the banks of the Bruintjies River. The birdsong at dusk and dawn, and throughout the day is marvelous, including owls hooting in the evening, and the fish eagles' calls during the day. Although the cabin can get quite hot, one can open the windows on all sides to allow a flow of air throughout, and to feast your eyes on the lovely views. Kayaking on the river was another highlight that was awesome! The river is quite serene and the scenery exquisite, especially in the morning. The water is lovely for a swim as well. Although I was on my own and working all the while (strong wifi), the cabin would be ideal for a family getaway. A deck built between some of the tall Eucalyptus trees right on/over the river, has a table, seating and even a shower for lovely days spent outside. I'll definitely book again!

Good stay, cottage had all the essentials for self catering stays. Marc also provided a clothes airier which was not in the cottage.

We loved the stay at the 'green' cottage. Lea was super friendly and helpful with checkin and any advise on activities to do around the area. Our 2 year old was in heaven listening to the lions roaring from the neighbour's animal sanctuary, after dark. Lea kindly allowed us to drive through their farm to view the Zebra and Eiland, 4x4 probably recommended. The cottage was clean and kitted out for our short stay. A braai under the closed verandah made a rainy night magical. we hope to be back.

We loved the accommodation, very tranquil and secluded. The view was amazing and we enjoyed every minute spent.

Amazing little get away place, with river right in front of you, definetly had a relaxing stay.

Graham and the team at Far Side were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The cabin was perfect, rustic and serene, the views felt like something out of The Lord of The Rings. It was incredibly peaceful and we couldn’t have had a better trip to Barrydale. Graham’s recommendations on the local spots to see and explore were incredible. Truly I cannot wait to visit the Far Side Cabin again, lay in the lovely hammock and enjoy the spectacular Mountain View on my next trip to Barrydale.

A friend and I needed a few days to get away and relax. This was the perfect place for us. Quiet and serene. We enjoyed walking a bit and the swimming pool was so nice on a hot day. The house and kitchen are well set up and the lounge furniture is very comfortable. Great care has been taken to make sure that guests are very comfortable!

A great place to stay and a great location. Lovely walks along the cliff top, accessible to restaurants and town. The accommodation was spotless and had all we needed for our two night stay. We hope to return!

Even though the property is in quite a suburban street, the moment you walk through the garden gate you feel you have entered a woodland away from streets and houses. We loved sitting up on the top balcony watching all the bird activity taking place at tops of the milkwood trees. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Perfect communication via WA. When we had to reschedule our entire trip due to flight cancellations, it was no problem to come a day early. Hennie was always available for us, even asked several times how we were doing and whether everything was OK. Perfect support. The house itself is original and lovingly furnished, nothing was missing. We felt very comfortable and well looked after, even if "only" from a distance, because we didn't get to know Hennie as he lives far away. We would book Hennie's house again at any time!

Wir waren zu zweit, leider nur für eine Nacht hier aber es hat uns sofort sehr gut gefallen. Thera spricht perfekt Deutsch und hat uns ihr kleines tiny Haus persönlich vorgestellt. Die Terrasse lädt zum Verweilen ein und man hat einen wunderschönen Blick auf den schönen Garten. Ein großer Gasgrill war ebenfalls auf der Terrasse. Wir haben uns so wohl gefühlt, dass wir auf alle Fälle bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt hier wieder übernachten werden. Vielen Dank, Thera und bis baldeinmal.

Beautiful stay! We reached it with our car but would recommend a high clearance vehicle for peace of mind. Absolutely worth it. Breathtaking views and solitude.

We really enjoyed our stay with David and Bonnie. The cabin is a true log cabin. We don’t see this often in South Africa. Everything was lovely. So peaceful and comfortable. They have a lovely dog, Chicco. He was very welcoming. The garden is beautiful. Such a lovely place. David gave us insights on where to go and things to do. Thank you, David and Bonnie, for a great stay.

From booking to checking out this was a pleasure. Mike was informative and communicative. But best of all was the delightful accommodation- so fresh and light, elegant in its stylish simplicity with attention to detail. The kingsize bed was very comfortable, the little open plan kitchen was all we needed, the shower pressure was great and the pops of colour happy-making. We were in Stanford for a wedding weekend and it was a perfect stay over, place to get ready and a welcome ‘home’ to return to in the early morning hours! Just wish we had given ourselves more time to enjoy the mini-courtyard! Bird’s Nest Cottage will definitely be our go-to place next time in Stanford.
