Beautiful home and Rachael was a great host (hands off but very responsive-just what I like). The location cannot be beat. We had a car but chose to taxi most places. Even our taxi drivers were admiring the location. The hot tub was AMAZING. We got stuck on the island an extra day due to weather conditions impacting ferry crossings. Rachael was able to accommodate an extra nights stay. Although you feel very remote, there are 3 grocery stores within 10 minutes and you have easy access to all of Kirkwall. Favorite part was the neighbor sheep….waking up and looking out to see all the sheep while you get ready was so fun!

Vicky and Alan are great hosts! The light keepers cottage is a peaceful retreat and has absolutely everything that you may need during your stay

What a beautiful place Mike has has. It instantly felt comfortable and easy to stay in. Decor is tasteful and the beds are comfortable. The hot tub is an added bonus. We really loved staying here.

Linda’s Place is a lovely former family home in a stunning position on the sea front at Longhope on the island of Hoy. It’s a family home with a very comfy, if somewhat old-fashioned vibe. Don’t expect 5 star accommodation but do expect a warm home well supplied with kitchen equipment and welcoming shortbread (very yummy) and fresh milk in the fridge. There are two boxes of toy,s /games for children of all ages plus a large DVD film collection for showing on the TV , Linda supplies bedding and towels. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. For a rural property the water supply water supply is fab but a tip is to stagger bath/shower times as the hot water sometime can run cool if excessive demand is placed on it. There is a garden with a washing line over the road from the cottage. The next door neighbour is a brilliant neighbour and all locals we met were friendly and very helpful. We two stayed in the first week of August 24 finding the village shop to have comprehensive supply.

Nice accommodation close to all amenities we needed. Easy to park at near by long stay parking with ev charger (always nice to arrive and find empty charger). Thank you, John Mirek&Daniela

Home from home Everything well presented and log burning fire an absulute dream to come home to after a days exploring.

Our first visit to North Ronaldsay. Verracott was a great location, being in the middle of the island, so perfect for exploring. The croft is on its own down a private lane, with North Manse to the north (a field away) and Purtabrek to the south (2 fields away). The cottage was exactly as described, cosy with the fire (or 2) burning in the evenings. Plenty of hot water so the bath was well used! We ordered our provisions from the Bird Observatory and had lunch there several times. We enjoyed feeding our scraps to the chickens! If you fancy getting away from it all, this is the place to come. Loved it. Helga was very responsive and helpful, and it was really lovely to meet her, and her family.

A lovely, cosy cottage, perfect for what I needed whilst working on the island. Thanks so much for having me stay, I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing stay, cottage was in a beautiful location and was well furnished and clean. Lovely kitchen with enough pots pans and utensils to cook anything you need. Made great use of the fire which made the cottage very cosy. On a clear night, you get stunning views of the stars. Kathleen was also very friendly and approachable - wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else next time I come to Hoy!

Perfect location and great view from the lounge and top bedroom. Orkney and Stromness is full of very friendly people, happy to have a chat in the street and local pub. It was quite difficult finding places to eat, it was March and a lot of places are closed for the winter. The fishmonger had closed down last December with was quite disappointing, really because we could have cooked amazing food in the kitchen of the house. We will definitely visit Orkney again!

Thanks so much to Henrietta and Calum - we had a great stay at the house, everything was spotless and neat, with great amenities, and within easy walk of Kirkwall.

36 Alfred St Anderson’s Seaside Cottage made for an interesting & enjoyable stay. The stone Bothy was a nice spot to have a cuppa & watch the harbour. We really appreciated all the kitchen/laundry supplies that you’d have at home, such as coffees, teas, cooking necessities, herbs, sauces, cooking oils, dish washing tablets & washing machine pods (plus more!) Rosemary has a good supply of information about the island & even a space with stationery bits & bobs. If you love reading Rosemary has loads of options throughout the cottage. If mobility is an issue for you, the stairs would be problematic. It was a great experience of living in a small town near the sea with narrow streets covered with slate & cobbled stones.

Lovely place to stay very peaceful.

We had a fantastic stay in Birsay. Absolutely incredible area to stay in, great for a seaside wander and wildlife spotting. House suited us really well, cosy, warm, ideal!

All good, clean, everything you’d need in the kitchen. Nice garden gets the afternoon sun. 10 min walk from centre of town, hill might be a struggling for some but taxis easily available.

The Cottage was a home away from from home. Rosemary was an amazing host and provided us with valuable local knowledge prior to our trip. The cottage was beautifully presented; so warm and the amenities throughout were amazing and abundant. The highlight was the gorgeous little window overlooking the seafront and the history of the cottage. Highly recommend!

David. Rachel, and Bella went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. When we were confused over a simple aspect of the shower Rachel was over in a flash to show us how to do it. We were a bit embarrassed but she was super nice and friendly and we were able to get to know her and her adorable dog. We felt we were treated as family, and would love to return.
