Río Platanar : locations de vacances

We stayed in the Above the Gulf house for 3 nights while visiting the Monteverde area. The house itself is lovely, very private, well-equipped. We loved the location. Close to restaurants and town, but nestled in a wooded area overlooking the forest and water. Our host Daniela was so helpful in the process, also hooking us up with a fabulous night tour with a very knowledgeable guide. The compound has a very nice park!play area and an outdoor breakfast if you choose. Highly recommend!

Spent an amazing 2 months at Chris's place. Exactly what we have hoped for. The grounds and property were absolutely stunning! A true little paradise, especially if you are bird lover! A wonderful location to walk and enjoy the beauty of the lake, or walk into town to experience one of the many amazing restaurants. After we spent a day exploring, it was so nice to come back and relax in the beautiful pool! The beds were very comfy and the linens were a nice treat. Last but not least, Chris' place made us feel so at home. Chris checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. And Alex( and of course , Cindy) the property manager/ grounds keeper, added to our amazing time, his friendly smile, his whistles as he works to maintain the beautiful gardens, his funny stories and his knowledge of his country that he is so passionate about, truly was the "icing on the cake" . We feel very lucky to have found Chris' place as we now feel like we have found another home! Dave & Lisa

Zen Village was awesome. It is designed so that individuals in a group have their own space and naturally gather in the outdoor kitchen and pool area. Hot tub was a hit. The caretakers were responsive and invited the children to milk cows. We were lucky with a cloud free view of Arenal.

Wow—this place is absolutely gorgeous! The outdoor space is out of this world, and the view of the volcano is just breathtaking. We loved sitting outside, taking in the scenery, and listening to all the different animals—nature at its finest! Around 4 or 5 in the morning, a very enthusiastic rooster made sure we never overslept… let’s just say he took his job very seriously. The location is perfect, close to so many amazing excursions. We did the volcano tour, the hanging bridges, the waterfall, and the chocolate tour—every single one was incredible. This was truly an unforgettable stay, and we’d definitely come back (hopefully the rooster takes a day off next time!) 😆

We enjoyed our stay! It's a nice, clean home with scenic views in an authentic, safe community. We bought a few basics for breakfast (eggs, queso blanco, milk, coffee, juice) at the nearby community mini-market (a few blocks away) so we could make breakfast at the place. If you want fresh fruits & veggies, you should stop at a bigger market on your way (La Fortuna? Or El Castillo?). We ate dinner twice at the nearby La Terraza restaurant, which was good. We loved the batidos de fruta (fruit smoothies/shakes - 'de leche' ('of milk') . My favorite is the batido de papaya (de leche). My kids also tried the strawberry, pineapple, maracuya (and I think others, too!). We enjoyed the dishes we had there, too. Internet at the house can be spotty, but there's some cell reception, too. If you're on vacation and just checking your email from time to time and researching things to do in the area, it's fine; if you're looking to be a digital nomad, this is probably not the place for you.

First night have trouble figuring out water temperature (this is on my side issue) Jesse responded quickly and Send Elmer right away, very impressed response time. The driving direction is very helpful. Also give me the best time window to catch the cap of volcano’s beautiful sight in the morning . We are very fortunate to stay in this location/ host literally match the name La Fortuna. Thanks you, will stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at this place, Leandro’s family was so welcoming and hospitable. His father Milton showed us his garden, cut us some fresh coconut from the garden, brought some toys and gave us great tips for the area. The house is bright and spacious with lots of room for two parties traveling together. The pool is amazing and the garden is huge. It feels like a true paradise. It’s also a great place to stay with kids. All major sight of La Fortuna are ca 30-40 minutes away and this feels like an area where locals really live, go to school or eat. We really recommend this place and thanks Milton and family for everything.

AMAZING. Such a beautiful and peaceful place, the view is WAY better in real, the room are big and clean with hot water, really a piece of paradise!!! The only thing to know, there is a breakfast for a great price available. Otherwise you need to think to buy some food to eat. It is not far away from the little town where you have a few restaurants (maybe 1-2?), a little convenient store and a place to get meat but it is a bumpy road to come back to get it, so think ahead and buy it before you get there!

This was our second time at this Airbnb, this time we brought our kids! It was so wonderful!! If you want a peaceful vacation, this is the place to go! With those beautiful views and the horses coming up the fence to say hello everyday, my heart was so happy!! This is a place where you need to spend your time outsides the inside furniture is not super comfortable but it does its job. The water got cold quickly, which was the only downside we had the whole trip. Otherwise, we plan to come back again in the future. I already miss the place so much! My kids loved it too! The hosts also helped me find a baker for my daughter’s birthday cake which was so nice of them!! They responded so fast via email which I appreciated!
