I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Motherby House and am so grateful to the hosts, Jacquie and David, for making me feel so welcome. They’re both kind and engaging—and they gave me some great recommendations for places to eat and visit in the area. Breakfast was delicious and Jacquie kindly made me a tasty packed lunch for my hike! I’d be very happy to stay here again.

I am not sure I can add more superlatives to my last review - lovely house, perfect location and terrific hospitality.

Beautiful warm clean accommodation . The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Bathroom was large, very clean and hot water. Julie left us a wide choice of breakfast including vegan, lovely. Very private and quiet, parking. Attention to detail was great “sheep” .

Amazing overnight stay. Beautiful surroundings, the food In the pub was incredible. Especially the pies! Will be back again for sure. Hosts and everyone were so friendly, even being our 2 big dogs it was a great stay.

Stayed 4 days in Paul’s lovely cottage, just a short walk from Hawkshead village. The accommodations were as expected and Paul could not have been a more gracious host. He has a wealth of local knowledge and directed us on some beautiful walks. Breakfasts were fantastic! Would absolutely return in a heartbeat.

100% worth the price, best of the best. We had a really really great time together. Pete has a very strong sense of humor, and Carole makes us a wonderful local feast and breakfast. It’s FLAWLESS! My family is really enjoyed. One thing I hate is our English is not so good that we can’t express all our happiness. Even that, they use translation apps to break the barrier. There are so many wonderful details that can't be expressed in the comments. They show the true brilliance of humanity and tell us that friendship knows no boundaries. 100 out of 10!

Fantastic place for a weekend break, had my own area upstairs with a small room to the side of the bedroom for breakfast making/easting. Bedroom was very spacious and the bed was most comfy and clean. Great host, very friendly and provided good local recommendations. Parking was perfect (on driveway) and directions were also easy to follow. Definitely would recommend for others if they want a trip to the north of England, great history and walks very close by and Newcastle is about a 50 minute train ride.

Clean, quiet & welcoming and lovely breakfast choices. Fiona recommended a place to eat and a lovely walk. Five minute walk into town so in the perfect place to see everything and then retreat to peace and quiet in the evening.

Excellent stay with views from the conservatory. Short golfing trip. Would recommend to anyone if in the area.

We had a lovely stay. Brian was friendly and welcoming. The room and bathroom were both clean and cosy. Great rural location for the Lake District and nice pub (The Punch Bowl) a 10 min walk. We would be happy to stay with Brian again.

Diane was a very responsive host and an extremely lovely person. She and Ian were very helpful, the location of the BnB was excellent, the room was lovely and clean with a comfortable bed and nice hot shower. Diane’s cooking was also incredible, we enjoyed two very lovely breakfasts. We would absolutely stay again!

Thank you Brenda for a perfect stay. You were attentive ensuring we were more than comfortable as well as happy. Your recommendations for walks, places to visit and pubs were brilliant. Your cottage is a great location for the lakes as well as a quiet retreat from all the busyness of life.

Sarah was warm, friendly and made us feel welcome. We had warm muffins and cups of tea on arrival and also when we returned from our outings the following day. Our room on the ground floor was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, the breakfast menu was extensive and the food was cooked and served by Sarah. We highly recommend Claremont House and will definitely be staying there again, when we are next in the UK.

Really lovely place, right in the heart of the peaks, Jill and Steve are clearly really passionate about the local area and gave us lots of tips. Very genuine and active hosts. The cooked breakfast was perfect the day after a long day doing the 3 peaks challenge! Can also highly recommend pie at the Station Inn just up the road! Leah :)

We had a lovely stay at Tony’s house. The house was easy to find and we were able to park on his drive. Bed was very comfy and the room was clean and tiny. Highly recommend!

Outstanding through and through! Best air BNB or any BNB for that matter that I've ever stayed in! Liz's attention to detail in every regard is phenomenal and made my stay so good I didn't want to leave! A beautiful, modern yet cosy, spotless place to stay, topped off with complimentary homemade cakes everyday and the best breakfast you could wish for! So many extra little touches - Liz has thought of everything and this is now holding the bar very high for anywhere else I stay in future! I will be back and recommending to everyone I know who wants to visit the Lake District! Thanks for the best 4 days Liz! 😊👍🏼

Good little place to stay near the start/end of the Hadrian’s Wall Path, which is a 20-30 minute walk away. Room was spacious and had a handy kitchen space.

We had a lovely stay at Cragg House Farm. Liz is such a great host! She is very friendly and welcoming. Ensured that we had everything we needed, breakfast was very tasty with a great selection of food. The place itself is very clean, tidy and comfortable. Ideal getaway if you are looking for a peaceful stay. Would highly recommend!
