This listing is for a room in Hotel Las Colinas. It’s on the outskirts of the town of Sabana de la Mar, about a 30-40 minute walk to the ferry and what might qualify as a town ‘center’. We really enjoyed our stay. Given its surroundings, the hotel is decent, if basic. Rooms are in good condition, the bed is comfy, there’s AC and a fan, staff are friendly, and it’s a good shower. Fine for the price. Keep in mind there’s no breakfast served though, you have to sort yourself out. The best reason to stay here is to take advantage of Los Haitises. In this regard, Kate and Misael can hook you up with many different great opportunities to explore the park. We were in touch with Kate, who was extremely friendly and communicative. Through her, we arranged a superb kayak and hiking day excursion with experienced local guide Jackson, and we loved it. A much better experience than being crammed in an enormous boatload of tourists. Through him, we also ate often at a good local restaurant, El Caney. Don’t expect luxurious surroundings staying here. Sabana is an impoverished fishing village. If you don’t have a car, be ready to do a lot of mototaxi trips to get around, quite an experience if you’ve not done it before. If you’re ready for a great adventure though, this is a good choice. Thanks to Kate, Jackson, and our excellent mototaxi driver Fernando we were well taken care of and really enjoyed our time in Sabana.

A mi esposo y a mi nos encantó. El lugar es realmente precioso y acogedor. Se encuentra en un barrio poco transitado del centro de las Terrenas, por lo que también es muy tranquilo y callado. Lo único que nos disgustó fue el tema de la ubicación proporcionada en Google Maps, que no era correcta. Y la anfitriona, aunque muy amable, no nos explicó muy bien. Nos costó un poco llegar, luego de preguntar reiteradas veces a los locales. Pero por lo demás, fue maravilloso.

Martlenis's place is perfect if you want to stay in town around the corner from the main supermarkets. It's quiet and comfortable and the price is very inexpensive. It's also very safe as there is 24 hour security. We will stay here again when visiting Las Terrenas.

Great location, right in the center, but very quiet. Basic rooms, but clean, comfy bed, good AC, very nice staff, nice pool with bar. Incredible value for the very good price.
