This home was very nice, and the private little beach was perfect for our little kids. Home was clean and we had a great time. Only thing I would want other guest to know is that if you plan on cooking your meals like we did, you want to bring a cutting board and peeling knife with you and maybe some mixing bowls and spices. We managed but I would have brought all that had I known. I would still highly recommend this home.

Loved this house on the lake. The stars from the dock were spectacular! Stacie was a great host and the instructions were easy and clear. The house is comfortable and cozy.

Had a great time here…it’s one of the nicer ones I’ve been to…felt like we were in a post card picture it was so beautiful with the river running through. The host was great too. Would definitely recommend this place.

Stephen's house was exactly what my family needed for a relaxing long weekend to be together. The house suited our needs extremely well with so many places to gather but also comfy spaces to curl up and read or take a nap. The deck overlooked the beautiful yard and view of the water with plenty of seating for all of us. The sunroom was enjoyable from morning til late at night, listening to the owls. The kitchen was well stocked and large enough for multiple cooks. My adult children enjoyed kayaking several times, especially since the house is tucked away from the main part of the lake, so we had very little water traffic. We only ventured out once to visit some wineries and pick up a pizza, preferring to just stay and enjoy the setting, although there was information about things to do in the area. This was our first of hopefully many visits to SML and I don't think we'll bother to search for a different house. We're already talking about our next time there!

So Beautiful! So Peaceful! We enjoyed every second in this beautiful home, on a serene lake, surrounded by nature and love. Rachael was an amazing host. We were coming to town for a vow renewal ceremony. Rachael was responsive and super helpful when it came to logistics and flexible with the check-in, so we could get to the ceremony on time. The home was lovely and pristine! It had everything we needed to cook and have fun. The 2 decks and dock framed the lake beautifully. The kayaks were a big hit and all the board games kept us entertained. We loved our time in the home and on the lake! We would definitely book again!

I offered five stars. There were a few tiny things that need attention—which happens when one’s property is being handled with a management company and not the owner unfortunately. We prefer more personal stay, but chose this property because of location. We do not regret it at all!!! We did notify the management company and they were quick to respond. Beds are perfection. Pillows are perfection. The space and view are perfection. Lots of water toys. We rented a boat and jet ski from across the water for two days, so the dock was AMAZING!!!!! We spent most of our time on the water. Would stay again.

Ben was a perfect host. Very communicative and will do whatever it takes to make the stay as good as possible. Beautiful property and very cool layout with multiple dwellings on the property. So many beds! Great lakefront just an easy walk down from the main house. The deck with fire pit and outdoor TV along with the wiffle ball field make for a great place to hangout and spend the day with your group! Would definitely book again!

Beautiful and peaceful location. Kayaking and hiking in SML were really fun! Definitely recommend this vacation rental!

A Nautical Nook was a peaceful place to spend Labor Day Weekend with our two dogs and college-age kids. We loved the dock and used kayaks each day to paddle up the lake. Our dogs loved chasing a ball in the backyard and swimming with us at the water’s edge. The location is close to Smith Mtn Lake State Park and Mariners Landing, the latter where we ate dinner three nights, rented wave runners one afternoon to explore the larger lake, and played golf one afternoon. Robert’s kitchen had all we needed and the screened in porch was great. We didn’t have any issues during our stay but up until our visit Robert was very responsive so we imagine he would have been quick to respond had anything been needed.

We were in the area from 3/15/25 through 3/18/25 for our son and daughter-in-laws baby shower. We were truly blessed to find Tamara and Luis's airbnb!! It is a beautiful, cozy little cottage that has EVERYTHING you need!! Tamara goes above and well beyond in making sure the guests have all of the amenities of home. Oh my, and then there is the homemade banana bread and fresh eggs on the counter to welcome you as you enter.....so delicious and a genuinely special added touch :) We brought our black lab, Storm, and he and Buddy, Tamara and Luis's golden doodle, became fast friends and enjoyed running together in the beautiful open area. The entire property is meticulously maintained, and it is such a peaceful and beautiful getaway. We enjoyed our talks with Tamara and Luis, they are the kindest and most welcoming couple. We felt like family, and we will definitely stay again when in the area to visit our son, daughter-in-law, and grandbabies. You will love your stay here!!

This cabin was a very nice place to stay. It was clean and had everything we needed. There were 3 of us and it was perfect. My youngest son loved the loft. The host is extremely responsive and very friendly. You are staying on the host's property (their residence is across the driveway) but we found them to be very hospitable and friendly yet left us alone. We loved the outdoor area with lights and the fire pit. We were there primarily to attend the a Nascar race in Martinsville but I would go back again because there is a ton to do in the area.

Kate's house in Penhook is gorgeous! The views of Mountain Mountain Lake from the home are truly stunning. The area around the airbb is quite remote, so ensure you have all your needs before arriving, but as long as you do there is no need to leave once there! There was a cleaning miscommunication out of Kate's control before we arrived and she handled the situation with above and beyond hospitality. We felt so supported and grateful. This house has plenty of room, a good kitchen for cooking, a cozy wood burning fireplace and nice large dining table for gathering, in addition to both a deck and a dock. We definitely hope to come back in the summer!

We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend stay at the cabin. The surroundings are beautiful and had we been in the area to enjoy ‘lake life’ this cabin would be a perfect fit. We were in the area to visit some museums in Roanoke and usually stay in hotels, but our dogs tend to bark and that bothers the other guests. As the cabin is dog friendly, we were able to crate them for a little while, while we enjoyed our day. Our host provided plenty of towels for our use, though we were surprised that there were no washcloths provided. When I mentioned this to our host, she said they’d take that recommendation for future guests. I’d also suggest that a box of tissues would be a nice addition (fortunately we had one in the car). But this is nitpicking, really. Bottom line - it’s a beautiful cabin and the surroundings are the same. Any lake loving boater would be right at home. And our host was friendly and communicative.

I booked this for a weekend retreat for my boyfriend's birthday and Rocreek cabin was everything we could have hoped for!! The location was secluded, serine and just LOVELY!!! The small details in the cabin were soooo perfect and just added to the experience. I love that she labeled towels for the furbabies and also had bowls for them. Our favorite part was the waterfall out back!! Having the window open above the bed and being able to listen to that while we slept was soooo relaxing!!! I also got Rhonda to bake a cake for my boyfriend's birthday and it was delicious!! $25 well spent and it was waiting in the fridge when we got there. Loved the area, as there was so much to do and see! Hiking sharp top, which was 15 mins away, was AMAZING. We also enjoyed the D-Day Memorial, which was also within 20 mins. Bedford is sooo quaint and cute!! This property and the area is a must see!!! Thank you both for being such AMAZING hosts.

Great glamping experience. Christina's place was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed, and Christina was incredibly kind and helpful. Definitely recommended.

Several of my friends and I went to the area for the spring Nascar race in Martinsville, Virginia. This was the first time that we have stayed in an AirBnB, the price was much cheaper than what we have paid previous years at hotels in Virginia. The cabin is clean with numerous amenities, very nice back deck for morning coffee and front porch for our nightly relaxation time. The dining table was perfect for our euchre matches. Absolutely loved John’s choice for our entry access code. I wish all AirBnB hosts did that. We would highly recommend this place, it is definitely as advertised.

My kids and I loved going between kayaking, enjoying the hot tub, and relaxing. Lovely spot!

This was a beautiful get away! The house had everything we needed. The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. The Christmas decorations were such a nice touch! Definitely consider coming back in the summer to take advantage of the water activities!
