Amazing Stay, But a Few Small Hiccups Our stay at Close Home in Kaikoura was mostly wonderful! The host was fantastic—great communication, quick responses, and very helpful throughout our stay. The ocean view was absolutely stunning. The home itself was cozy and had most of things we needed for a comfortable stay. However, there were a couple of downsides worth noting. Firstly, no shampoo or body wash was provided, which was a bit inconvenient as we had to make an unexpected trip to the store. Secondly, the off-street parking was a bit of an annoying. Despite these minor issues, we still enjoyed our stay and would recommend Close Home to others. With a few small improvements, this place would be absolutely perfect! Thank you for hosting us—we’d consider staying again in the future!

Lieu atypique et plein de charme. Nos enfants ont adoré dormir dans l’ancien garage des diligences avec les selles des chevaux exposées comme décoration. Mike et Linda ont été très accueillant et nous ont fait faire le tour de la propriété qui réserve de nombreuses surprises! Malgré le temps pluvieux nous avons passé un très bon moment !

Great place for families - spacious home, clean and tidy. Only a short drive from town centre. Phillis lovely to deal with.

Great spot, nice place to stay. Comfortable beds. Good view to the busy wharf over the road. Boats/tractors start early in the morning.

it was a great stay for 4 days, everything we needed was there, wonderful beds , I had the best sleep ever, handy location, you can walk everywhere. we had a relaxing time.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our South Island road trip hoping to see whales. Sadly we didn’t see any this time. We had torrential rain and it was cold. But… we loved the town and this cute period villa. House was cosy warm and comfortable. We had a fab dinner at The Whaler and even better at the Pier. We had wanted to go to Nins bins but was too wet. Highlights were the shops, the coffee (excellent coffee right next door!) and the Kent fireplace inside the lounge. Thank you!!

Dejligt hus med en hyggelig have til. God lokation i byen. Vi havde desværre mange myrer på nogle af værelserne, men ellers nød vi virkelig vores ophold.

The second we walked in, we wished immediately that we could stay longer. Everything was so spectacular about this home. The location provided spectacular views and the space was so comfortable. We especially appreciated all the little extras. Thank you for the coffee and tea and for accommodating our request for an early check in. Our time in "The Edge" went way way too fast and we can't wait to return. Thank you for letting us make memories in your beautiful home and for making our visit to Kaikoura so special.

Although it was only one night, it was a special experience. Being able to hear the voices of animals and birds so close is another perk of this hotel. The feeding, which started at 9 a.m.was a particularly exciting experience for our children. This is a highly recommended accommodation for those who are highly environmentally conscious. thanks！

Kevin's House Truck was great - funky, comfortable, well equipped and had everything we needed. Location is great, close to Kaikōura and all the major tours and activities. It's a shame we only had one night to stay here because we could have easily stayed longer.

The house was very clean when we arrived and had pretty much everything that it said it would . One of the door locks in the lounge area needs to be fixed , but that’s a small job to fix . It was lovely and cosy , close to town and the mountain views were stunning . We loved it there despite the weather being a bit rainy .

We had a faultless stay - the yurt was so fun, very well decorated, well equipped with coffee, tea, farm fresh eggs, bread and jam. The bed and chairs were very comfortable and the kitchen was clean and well equipped also - nice and rustic! We love camping and this was super fun glamping. Don't expect a 5 star resort, it's a unique glamping experience - we've never seen anything like it and we loved it! We went on a llama trek one day (highly recommend - another unique experience!) and fed the animals on the farm the following day - a really great experience! They have other "wacky" accommodation too including a train carriage, teepee, gypsy truck and large old horse drawn wagon - so cool! Would definitely want to try out the wagon next time too... Kevin was friendly, welcoming and helpful! Genuinely loved this place. A highlight of our two weeks in NZ for sure!

Jennifer's place home away home. Felt so comfortable away from home. Each and every thing, she has given importance for the comfort of residents. One need not worry about any thing. She is a wonderful host, waited for us to reach the place and given all the information needed for us and left. She has maintained that place so neat and comfy. We would love to return to Kaikura and stay in Jennifer's place and also recommend this place for every one. Home away home. Wonderful break fast with lots of variety and no one is left out in that spread. She has even taken care of small details for us, when we reached so late. Thank you Jennifer for the hospitality and god bless you.

Our stay here was incredible and we will definitely be back. Hayden was a great host, supper accomodating and helpful when we had questions. The surrounding area is gorgeous and you can’t beat the views- mountains, ocean, bush, sunrise and sunset plus allowing furry friends meant we could stay for longer and explore a new place with our puppy. We had the best time. (Sauna and cold plunge was a huge bonus)

This was an excellent weekend away location, the home was so inviting and clean. I would totally recommend this to others. Each of the bedrooms was well set out. Lots of utensils in the kitchen, Spa was awesome! It was great to have the privacy of your own bathroom in each bedroom! Thanks so much!!!

Gorgeous place with plenty of space for two families (though there were only four of us)! So close to the black sand beach of Kaikoura, and a quick jaunt to groceries. Pretty amazing to have TWO separate living areas/TVs for the kids and the grown-ups! Pretty views and a yard we didn’t quite get to take advantage of, since we were a last-minute booking for one night only — and the hot tub was nice and hot upon arrival, too! My partner wanted to stay forever. ;) 👍🏻

We had a great stay at the Woolshed. Emily was super accommodating around our last minute booking and met us on arrival to show us around. The location is stunning and access to the incredible sauna and other facilities was such a treat. As explained in the description, the Woolshed is right by a road and railway and so there was quite a lot of noise at night, but I wouldn’t let this put anyone off booking - it’s worth it for the rest of the experience!

Great house with beautiful views! We loved the location close to the beach.
