Highlight of our first Japan trip! 💎 Junko and Philip are warm, grounded and incredibly helpful hosts. Junko picked us up at the station and even brought us to the supermarket, where Junko kindly helped us choose what to buy — such a thoughtful gesture! The home was bigger than expected, clean and full of soul — from the CD collection, board games and a great sound system Every room had AC/heating, and we had everything we needed. The area is peaceful, the perfect contrast to Tokyo and Kyoto, which can easily get overwhelming— we were so happy to come here after exploring. They provide bikes and a folder with great tips. The bike seats were a bit hard, so we padded them with towels — fun memory! 😂 They live next door with their two kids and a lovely garden. The place has real serenity and a true Japanese feel. We’d love to return! 🙏🏼

Very easy check-in process. Premium location right next to the canal for some awesome strolls and views. Also next to a station that takes you all throughout Kyoto. Really nice bath and shower and ample space for a family of 5.

Eri-san’s stay was the perfect place for our stay in Kyoto. The location is fantastic - close to Fushimi Inari (so we were able to go early mornings & late nights, and get beautiful views), very close to the train station and many eateries close by. Apartment was clean, spacious for two people with maybe 2 checkin bags. The kitchenette was perfect for us as we woke up very early to explore temples without people, and were able to make some quick eats and coffee. I would definitely stay here again.

Such a lovely stay in Kyoto! After the hustle and bustle of Tokyo (and tiny hotel rooms), it was so nice to have a beautiful, quiet, calm space to spread out. A quick walk from the train station and the most perfect backyard is waiting for you with the nicest soaking tub. We ended up doing less than planned so we could enjoy the space more.

Such a neat experience for my kids to stay like the locals in this charming home. Exactly as described and full of character. Clean, great location - would recommend for sure.

Akarisou’s place was spacious enough to accommodate my family of six, including my parents and two kids. The kitchen is well stocked to cook. I liked the dishwasher a lot. The first floor room was traditionally made with Japanese house style, which my parents enjoyed. The rooms in the second floor were pretty spacious, and the mattresses were comfortable! The bathroom is also spacious with a large tub and clean shower facilities. The location was safe and close to an awesome grocery store and pharmacy (drug store). The owner is very communicative! I’d recommend this place for a family with kids!

The bathroom downstairs was amazing. It was super clean—linens, fluffy towels, Dyson hair dryer. The only difficulty I had was figuring out the washing machine since it was all in Japanese. I tried using Google translate and I couldn’t toggle the washing setting to my liking. But, that’s really an issue with not being able to speak or read the language. It was conveniently located which easy access to Ubers and taxis. We went everywhere from the Golden Temple to the Bamboo forest and even made a day trip out to Osaka. It sucks to transport luggage to the Airbnb because they can’t just leave it up front. I tried getting them to let me pick it up from the train station but that wasn’t possible. However, the transport person stayed until we got there which was so nice. The host was amazing as well. One of the kids left her stamp book from the temple behind and she contacted us about it. She was so nice to send it to our next destination and messaged us with the confirmation.

I absolutely loved my stay. The place was extremely clean, the location is in a beautiful lowkey neighborhood that’s walkable to some of the bigger attractions and shopping. Definitely recommend staying here during your visit. A couple recommendations for stores close by - Homies, T.T, and otsu_kei

I searched high and low and could not have landed on a more perfect airbnb in the heart of Gion! It was more amazing that we anticipated. A perfectly traditional Kyoto style home but freshly renovated and clean. Tranquil garden with a private onsen, tucked in a private alleyway right in the midst of the beautiful and lively Yasaka Shrine district. We wanted to experience only moving about in the village of Shrines and Castles so this was a dream come true. The house was comfortable and perfect for a small trio for one night. Ruru was one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. She was very communicative and gave us lots of local tips, including a reservation to the hot pot restaurant she owns which was great! Loved waking up and walking around to try different food vendors at the shrine! Will definitely be back to book this spot again! Be respectful of the culture and the neighbors and the energy of Kyoto will return the love. 10/10 💜
