The Great Lakes : séjours à la ferme

We loved this beautifully designed and decorated timber-frame barn in hilly, Illinois farm country! Jilly and KenBob are warm hosts who welcomed us with convivial conversation and our pup with a canine chorus.

We felt right at home as soon as we walked in the door. It was exactly as pictured and even more comfortable. We will definitely stay again. We all appreciated the treats, sheets and towels making our dog feel comfortable, too!

Cozy place with a lot of charm & neat amenities. Close to Marinette/Menominee & easy commute to amazing hiking. Would happily stay here again!

Seth and Annie are ALWAYS great hosts when my family comes from out of town to stay! Their place is absolutely beautiful, clean, great artwork throughout, just the right amount of kitchen space for the length of the stay. Thank you!

Great place to stay with a few families for a hockey tournament in Canada. Plenty of space and big kitchen to cook and relax around

Very beautiful location and a very short drive from downtown Charlevoix. It took a few minutes of walking to get from Cabin 1 to the main cabin where we could charge our devices and use the bathroom, which we didn't mind too much since it was a short stay. If you'd enjoy a camping-like experience with a comfy bed and no bugs, this is a great place to stay! Carl was also super helpful and responsive :)

We enjoyed the cozy and rustic feeling of the home and the company of farm animals, the clear sky for stargazing is a bonus too. Lenore and Scott were very friendly and gave us a tour of the farm. Glad to pet some of the animals and learn more about the history of the farm. The bathroom in unit was not shown in the description but it’s well equipped with toilet and shower. The beds are a bit squeezy but once I fell asleep it was no problem. The stay was wonderful overall and I would like to visit again!

We had a good time and enjoyed the space. Convenient quarter mile off the highway so a quick zip up to Iowa City. Private and spacious lodgings which were plenty for our family of three. Only place where I’d knock off points is the aroma. Do know that the house is attached to a horse barn—as in you can see it through the downstairs window—so expect an adjustment period to that smell. Wasn’t a deal breaker for us, but I guess I didn’t read closely about that. I suppose it’s a true farm vibe that way! All in all a quality stay.

Had such a great experience at this Airbnb. The space is even more beautiful than in the pictures and as an animal lover, the outdoor space and interaction with the cats and alpacas was an added bonus. Wish I had more time there! Hosts were very kind and responsive.

This place was so so lovely! We really appreciated the careful attention to small details (the host left very detailed, carefully thought out instructions for everything, the pellet fireplace was already filled for us, they had delicious coffee and an assortment of teas, the kitchen was stocked with everything we might’ve needed, and they left us goat treats which we had so much fun feeding the goats). It was an incredibly serene stay.

I love the Farm Shed...it feels like you have rented a wee home of your own and it's nestled in a serene farm setting...quiet, contemplative and cozy. The friendliest cat was a bonus.

This space is unique and has so many wonderful touches! The attention to detail is unmatched! The aesthetic is unlike anything around! I loved every aspect of this space! If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to relax and recharge this is it! Very clean and has everything you need!

Mike & Sheila’s place was a gem! We enjoyed every minute in the cottage, and only wish we could have stayed longer. One of the most cozy stays we’ve experienced, beautifully built cottage, clean, with all the amenities we needed! Mike and Sheila were both so friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. We plan on coming back and experiencing the cottage and surroundings in the summer or fall weather.

My boyfriend and I went on a road trip to Niagara Falls, and this was our favorite stay along the way! The airbnb was warm, cozy and just as pictured, while the instructions to get in from Barb were also clear. We were able to cook and comfortably watch TV from bed. We were encouraged to come visit the goats in the morning before leaving, and it was truly the cherry on top to see them and pet the barn cats before making our way on the road. We felt very welcomed here, and would definitely come again!

Staying here was such a nice escape from the city! I made ample use of the sauna which was lovely to have at such a reasonable price point for the stay. You are right across the street from a delicious coffee place. Very nice stay!

My husband and I scheduled a spur of the moment weekend getaway and we stayed at the Grey Barn and loved it! It had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. It was clean, clutter-free, and comfy. It was warm and cozy, right down to the details of a bed warmer (and a comfy bed), lots of recommendations for local fare, and quick response times to answer any questions. We can't wait to go back when we have more time - loved it!

Beautiful restored country farm house with all the modern convenience. Sarah, the host, was friendly and helpful and willing to work with our travel schedule. I plan to stay again!

I really enjoyed Dave’s barndominium! It was close to the Finger Lakes region (and Watkins Glenn) and we were able to do so many fun activities within close proximity to the Air B&B. It was very clean upon arrival, easy to get in and out of, and Dave & Audrey did a wonderful job making us feel welcome with the kind display when you arrive. They also had lots of suggestions about the local area and one of the restaurants we went to the owners spoke about how amazing Dave & Audrey were! They are very responsive as well and we overall had a great stay with them!

I will continue coming back to Stephanie’s place! The hosts are kind, responsive, and friendly. They have gone the extra mile numerous times to help our stay be memorable. There were fresh flowers in the house for us when we arrived, and they even introduced us to their baby lamb that was born in their barn while we were there!

Very clean and comfortable. Instructions throughout to make sure that we knew how to use everything properly.

We had a great weekend getaway at the Coach House. Very relaxing with the hot tub and the outdoor fire pit. Will definitely be booking again. Place has everything that you needed and was close to grocery stores. A great little vacation!

I would highly recommend Ryan’s place for anyone traveling to the Marquette area. Ryan was very friendly & helpful, the space was just as described, check in was easy with great instructions and the area was beautiful. Ryan and his family live above the Airbnb but you could hardly hear them. The space was comfortable and well stocked with everything you would need. I definitely plan to return next time I’m in the area.
