We recently booked a much-needed break and were on the lookout for somewhere within 45 minutes from home, with good walks nearby. After some searching, we found a hidden gem in Jess’s place, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for our little getaway! From the moment we arrived, Jess’s place impressed us with its cleanliness, warmth, and comfort. The property was well-equipped with a variety of teas and coffee, which was a lovely touch. The kitchen was fully kitted out, so we were able to prepare all of our breakfasts and evening meals with ease. We made sandwiches for lunch, which we took with us during our walks. The beds were really comfortable, and there were plenty of clean towels and blankets available, though we didn’t really need them as the place was wonderfully insulated. A special mention goes to Jess’s thoughtful gesture of leaving treats and a towel out for our dog, Rhori—he was thrilled! Dave and Katie’s cottage is highly recommended. There were just four of us but it would have easily accommodated 6 adults in three rooms. All the facilities were good quality and the cottage was well equipped with lots of cooking equipment, Bluetooth speakers, lovely soft thick towels, comfortable mattresses, lots of wardrobe and drawer space for clothes etc etc. Getting access to the cottage was easy with a key safe. Dave and Katie responded quickly to messages and were very helpful when we needed a chemist. The location is excellent in the lovely village of Hartington with two pubs, a tea room, a general store and a cheese shop. There are walks from the house to nearby Milldale and Dovedale and the Tissington Trail is nearby.

A beautiful cottage in a great location. The hot tub next to the river is just fantastic after a long walk. Plenty of walking both easy and challenging. The walk to the pub was easy and accessible through a public footpath. There are lots of charming villages to explore. We got the bus out one day which was very easy from the cottage, over the bridge at the top of the road, and walked back via plenty of pubs… A marvellous long weekend.

We had a great stay at Sarah’s place. It is so conveniently situated in the heart of Leek. The accommodation is ideal for a short or long stay. The cottage is beautifully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay. On the evening we arrived we had a great meal at Goose+Duck (booking advised). Saturday morning we spent time browsing around the antiques and vintage market. We loved hearing the church bells on Sunday morning and being able to walk across the road to the pub to have a cooked breakfast. Sarah is a very friendly and responsive host who provided us with lots of local information. We hope to return for another visit.

Penny is a lovely host who goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Her home is comfortable, clean and as described. Cake, coffee, condiments was provided. Was a great weekend catch up trip with friends. A massive 5 stars!!!

We were looking for somewhere close to where we needed to be, and would allow us to bring our 2 well behaved dogs. So glad we did. The house is beautifully presented, the attention to detail was outstanding. There were many thoughtful touches including the flowers, chocolates and donut dog biscuits. The log burner was lovely and the supply of wood much appreciated. Very comfortable bed and quality bed linen was again much appreciated. And the overall huge tick in the box for us was the house top to bottom is spotlessly clean. Highly recommend and we will be back.

This was easily the best airbnb we have ever stayed in, it was perfect in every way. The private field for our dog Queenie to run around in was the cherry on top of the bakewell tart! We have never come across this when searching for a place... she just loved it! Hopping Cottage was divine... quiet, peaceful and immaculate! The hot tub was super lovely and private and a real treat.. we stayed for three days and went in it 8 times so we must have loved it! We will definitely be returning here... there's no need to change a thing it was just perfect in every way! Thank you so much, we've had the best time. We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. It was very cool to read about the history of the cottage and how long it had been in the family!

Our stay at Marianne's was great. The location couldn't have been better, it was walking distance to everything. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and a few special treats awaites us. Thanks heaps Marianne

Thanks Heather. We went as a family with our son with autism. Close enough to get to town easily but still quiet. Easy free parking outside. A mature and nicely renovated two story apartment with lots of room. Some parts a little quirky but fitted in nicely with the vibe and original house. Thoroughly recommended for a relaxing break on the edge of the High Peak. We really enjoyed our break.

We had a lovely long weekend based in Longnor. A comfortable, warm and surprisingly spacious apartment. Great location. We walked the spectacular 'dragons back' route from our front door. Longnor is a central, pretty, and very peaceful village. Sad to see the village pubs and cafe all shut down. The nearest pub was the Packhorse Inn, a 20 min walk which was nice. A fantastic place, great host - highly recommend for a quiet break exploring the Peaks.

We had a wonderful time in Bakewell… beautiful little town with friendly people! The accommodation was very central and beautifully kept! Couldn’t fault a thing… would definitely recommend anyone to stay here!

Charlotte is a fantastic host - very welcoming and has a fabulous apartment with quality amenities. Had everything we needed for our stay and more. Castleton is a perfect location for exploring the Peak District. Highly recommended.

Absolutely perfect place for our overnight stay with a friend and my dog! The property was very accessible and dog friendly with lots of walking spots on the doorstep. Easy to find and the place itself was very comfortable. Hosts were very accommodating and communication and clarity of instructions were 10/10 :)
