Very convenient to skiing at Boyne Mountain. Comfortable and clean.

Our family of 4 had an absolutely lovely two-nights stay here. The photos do not do it justice. All the furniture felt upscale, sturdy and comfortable. The entire place was so well designed. Every little thing from the colorful dishes to the shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the shower added to the aesthetic. I loved the two-story private unit that we rented — it had its own private balcony/deck area off the top floor, where we enjoyed sunrise views of Lake Superior. But the entire Mayhew Inn is so fun. Communal places to sit in front of a fire or hangout with board games. All the local spots (including grocery stores) are easily walkable. We also went hiking in Cascade State Park (about 10-15 minutes away) and there were many waterfalls!

My brother, cousin, and I enjoyed our stay so much. The room is so cozy, has so much amenities, and very clean. The place is basically in the center of the town of Grand Marais so everything is accessible there! Great restaurants and stores are all walking distance, same goes for some hiking trails. We wish to return back soon!

We loved our stay at The Mayhew! The place is comfortable like it’s someone’s home, it’s got all the amenities you could ask for in a vacation rental (plus the fun extras like a rooftop deck and outdoor fireplace in common areas), and the location is unbeatable for easy access to shops, restaurants, and things to do. We would absolutely stay at The Mayhew again!

I LOVED this room! Refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, coffee, dishes. Very comfortable and beautiful space. I enjoyed the rooftop to watch the winter parade, tree lighting and fireworks. The lounge is a lovely space to escape from a snoring partner if you're an early riser like me. Though, I actually traveled alone this time - for a solo north shore hiking trip. I felt very secure on my own here. There were a lot of amenities in the building that I didn't take advantage of this time, but one thing I don't think I saw noted anywhere else is that there is water available in the lounge. A water cooler with glass bottles you can borrow to bring water to your room. Everything was absolute perfection!

We had a good stay in Grand Marais in the plaid room. Minifridge is quite large. Shower temp and water pressure were great. It was nice to have the lounge to go to in the morning before my wife was awake. The blackout curtains worked well. My wife found the bed comfy but it was too soft for me. It was super windy and the building had loud strange noises. Sounded like someone was stacking metal shipping containers a few blocks away during the night. Ear plugs helped.

Airbnbs are our preferred way to stay any time we travel. I think this may be the best experience we've ever had. The place and location are beautiful. It's comfortable, tastefully decorated and they've used high quality materials and amenities throughout. Even better than the photos. There were thoughtful and unexpected extras. So welcoming. We had some weather and travel issues, and they were understanding and helpful with our last minute booking. There was a lot of snow when we were there. We were hoping for snow and it was perfect for us. Poor Walt had his work cut out for him, but he happily kept everything shoveled so we could easily get in and out with no worries. Even though it snowed all weekend, it was still pretty quick and easy to get around. We spent time xc skiing at Vasa Pathway and dining in Traverse City with no issues. There are groceries, gas and a couple restaurants only a few miles away as well. Highly recommend!!

This is one of our favorite places to stay in the UP. The rooms are clean and relaxing and we enjoyed the outdoor space to walk our pup. Will definitely stay again!

Very beautiful location and space! Felt extremely private and the sauna is so relaxing to have right outside your door. The view from the unit is unreal!

Timothy is a fantastic host. My stay with my dog was excellent. The bed's comfort is outstanding. Thank you Timothy for the outside dog run. Very helpful when traveling with Maurie, my golden retriever!

Very cute and cozy motel. The host was super responsive and sweet. The place was super cheap and really close to a lot of nice spots in the UP.

We loved it! Our room was clean, spacious and well appointed~really loved the small table and chairs which came in handy for a meal and a game of backgammon. The bed was super comfy too.

We stayed for a overnight rest after 12 hours on the road and the motel was in the perfect location, super easy to find, clean and just what we needed for a quick stop. We had in the room or had access to everything we needed for ourselves and our pup. Timothy was friendly and responsive and we would definitely stay again.
