We were scheduled to stay at this house for a week, but due to Hurricane Helene, we had to evacuate after three days. For the time we were there, the house was very nice and we greatly enjoyed the large living room area. That was definitely the highlight of the home. We would have liked to explore the area more and utilize some of their recommendations, but unfortunately, that was not possible. Would recommend the house to people looking for a large area for people to gather and talk.

Absolutely beautiful view, and Hal was very accommodating and extremely helpful. Looking forward to coming again. Absolutely amazing host.

My friends and I enjoyed our weekend getaway at The Runaway Chalet. The driveway was a little tricky due to recent snowfall, but April suggested an alternative approach to enter driveway. We plan to return next year!

Visited Maggie Valley for a snowboarding trip and Mike’s home was the perfect place to come back to after a long day! The hot tub was luxurious and relaxing and the beds were soft and perfect for a good nights sleep! This cozy home was everything we needed for a lazy relaxing weekend with friends. A trip we won’t forget!

Tom was extremely responsive any time I reached out to him. The house was spotless when we arrived and has some really great views of the French Broad River as well as some mountains.

We really enjoyed our stay at Missy’s place. The home had everything we could have needed and had such a cool cozy vibe. The beds were very comfortable and we stayed busy with local hiking trails and waterfall visits. We also drove up to Bryson City and rode the train through the mountains. The home served as a central location to everything we wanted to do. Very close to the restaurants on Main street and we really loved the BBQ across the street (ate there twice). Admired the talented artists and their work that surrounded us in the home as well. Just some advice to first timers of the Highlands area. The roads are winding and narrow so try to drive in during the day. It’s such a beautiful area. Looking forward to our next visit!

We came to this beautiful mountain home to celebrate my birthday. The accommodations are great, beds comfortable-the robes a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed the porch and the scenic views . Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene arrived on my birthday . Brea and David were both so incredibly helpful as we navigated through the storm aftermath. I would highly recommend this lovely home , would love to return in the future. Brea is an exceptional host.

The Chalet was BEAUTIFUL!! Every room was perfectly designed and the views were killer! Incredibly clean and lots of space. The trail right by the house is an awesome trail as well, my dog loved it. If you’re considering staying here, this is your sign to do it!! (p.s. I also got engaged while staying here so it’s extra special)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at “Be Still,” a comfortable house located amidst a beautiful hardwood forest with (in winter) a lovely view of the early morning sun. The house boasted an array of amenities, including new kitchen appliances, dishes, utensils, TV with popular streaming channels, washer/dryer, hot tub, and a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck where we could listen to the silence in this nurturing setting. “Be Still” is situated in a great neighborhood which is only minutes from the not-to-be missed Bascom Art Center and Highlands’ most walkable downtown. But the hosts, Emily and Peter, made our trip special by going out of their way to kindly accommodate our unusual schedule. In responding to our scheduling request, Emily immediately said she was delighted to work with us because she wanted to ensure we had the trip we had hoped for. We are most grateful for their caring and support.
