My stay at The Melkkan was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, Willemien, the amazing host, made me feel right at home. Her warmth and hospitality were unmatched, setting the tone for a truly memorable visit. The restaurant is a delightful trip down memory lane, adorned with nostalgic memorabilia from days gone by. It’s more than a place to eat; it’s a charming escape into history. The farmhouse, dating back to the 1800s, is a well-preserved gem. Its rustic charm and character, combined with meticulous care, create an inviting and unique atmosphere. What truly sets The Melkkan apart is its family-friendly appeal. Willemien hosts music events featuring Afrikaans musicians, providing a vibrant, welcoming space where families can relax and enjoy. Children can explore while parents soak in the atmosphere. Whether travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town or passing through Welkom, The Melkkan is an essential stop, offering history, hospitality, and memories to cherish.

Your guest house is lovely and tranquil, a very peaceful stay and super close to Welkom for the up and down trip I needed to do for scouting of venues in Welkom. Johan your hosting skill and kindness is fantastic, you welcomed me in and saw to all my needs, sat down over a coffee for conversation which was great and I'm believe I have made a new friend. You will definitely see me again, the thing that impressed me the most which mas seem trivial was that fact that you had two different types of pillows. Soft for those who like a of pillow and a firm pillow for folks like myself who prefer the firmed pillow. I had a restful and relaxing weekend and will definitely be back again. Great place to stay while in Welkom. We were there for 3 nights and it was a great option. King sized bed was super comfy. There was a microwave, fridge, kettle, bug kill light and a load shedding light available. Beatrix was awesome and super friendly.
