We chose this property because of the close proximity to the ocean. There is no beach but you can definitely hear the waves crashing and it was very tropical. Besides the house next door, it is very private. Plenty of kitchen appliances, plateware, and silverware. The neighbors were friendly, including their dog. Overall, we had a great stay would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for peaceful, quiet time on the island.

Location is excellent, opposite a beach. But the same beach results in noise when people are coming and going. The house was as listed and communication from hosts is second to none. The house is as described in photos, but the layout of the bathrooms is a little unusual. The walls are thin and noise travels though the house. It would have been nice to have a dishwasher, the lack of dishwasher was a bit unexpected. That said, the house was in a great location to explore around Hilo.

We had the dream family trip of a lifetime. The kids loved the pool—morning, noon and evening except when we went off on adventures. The neighborhood was quiet and within walking distance of a rocky beach. The house was roomy and well stocked with two large, long dining tables, one indoors and the other on an enclosed porch outdoors. Perfect for family dining. Joe and Anna were lovely hosts, pleasant and informative. We’d definitely recommend this home to anyone.

The house was gorgeous, it matched the pictures and descriptions perfectly. At night it was very peaceful and just the most beautiful views every morning. My wife and I loved that it was so close to the best snorkeling that we've ever done and if you didn't want to do the hike to get to it there's plenty of rentable kayaks nearby. We also managed to see a mama humpback whale and her calf in the bay while we were relaxing on the lanai. Last thing I'll say is that the house was close to alot of local food places that all are highly recommended. When I plan my next trip to the Big Island I will definitely be looking to stay at this house again.

Shiva's place was beautiful! A unique house, with breathtaking views. House was clean, and exactly as described, except there is no shower, just a tub. The lights were a little difficult to figure out, with remotes and such, but we managed when we arrived after dark. Shiva was very prompt with messages, and we used quite a few of her recommendations! Seemed like a very nice person. Definitely would stay here again if we visit the area again!

The home is wonderfully decorated, comfortable and has stunning views of beach. The floor plan gives great communal space and privacy for quiet times. Well appointed kitchen and great place to grill. Dave was incredibly nice and helpful! Families will love it and we will definitely come back.

The view says it all for our stay. We spent a lot of time outside watching the waves crash onto the lava rocks. The house is minimally furnished but very clean with coffees and laundry detergent provided. The house is private but conveniently located to Volcano and Hilo. Great stay for the Big Island!

Stunning location and property, immaculately kept & stocked with everything you could possibly need. Our daughter learned how to surf on the break out front. We're hoping to come back again.

Very spacious and clean. Loved spending time in the pool and hot tub. Lanai was amazing with breathtaking views of the ocean. This home was immaculate inside and out! Easy access to beaches and restaurants. Everything you need to enjoy the pool and beaches is provided. Had an amazing vacation staying here. Will definitely be coming back!

We were 4 retired couples ages 62-74. We visited Kona 10 years ago staying in the same area. Pros: House was VERY spacious. Beds were very comfortable. We had plenty of supplies from TP to beach towels to dishes and kitchenware. Being the house was so large, there were 3 sets of washer/dryers, multiple refrigerators which was needed. The pool and lanai area had many tables and chairs and a grill - great for relaxing and cooking out. House was very clean. The guys loved watching the wild life in the backyard. House was very clean. Cons: Ali'i Drive is very busy and noisy. The house is next to the surfers parking lot. Between the traffic, the narrow/hidden driveway and the surfer parking, getting out was usually a nail biter. The pool does not have a shallow end - would be wary of littles around the pool. The pool tile is also VERY slippery when wet. The house has kind of an odd layout with many random, internal steps to rooms. We had folks with knee/hip issues with the steps.

Chelsea was out of town yet was immediately responsive to messages dealing with a couple of minor glitches; it helped that the owner lives nearby. Place overall was great. Lack of air conditioning (it was not hot, but the upstairs did warm up in the April afternoons) was offset by the private pool, a better way to cool off than by refrigerating the house. Nice layout for two couples, one upstairs with the larger bedroom and large en suite bath, the other downstairs with two smaller bedrooms and a bath, so we each had good private space. Only drawback was the downstairs rooms seemed a bit enclosed, although all had windows. Nice large lanai and the landscaping around the pool made it feel especially private. Be sure to investigate the pantry and shelves before shopping...the place was very well supplied when we arrived. We would definitely stay again if we're in Kona!

Our group absolutely loved our stay. The host was extremely responsive and the pictures don't even do the place justice. We loved the view and relaxing by the pool until it was time to hit the beach. The location is ideal; it is not too far from Kona (8 minute drive) but you feel like you're in a jungle oasis.

Our stay at Alexey’s place was perfect! The house was immaculate and uncluttered. There were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children under age 8. We had plenty of space in the great room/kitchen area to be together, yet each had their own wing of the house for private space time. The pool was fantastic with plenty of pool toys and floaties for the kids. The beds were comfortable with plenty of bath towels as well as beach/pool towels. There was plenty of beach gear as well; umbrellas, chairs, snorkel gear, and sand toys for the kids. The back patio was a favorite! We watched the beautiful Kona sunsets every evening and enjoyed coffee in the cool Kona air every morning. The house was close to shopping, beaches, and the airport. Overall we had a great trip and this space made it perfect! We will definitely stay here again.

Very beautiful home and lots of room for many people to stay. Host is very responsive with any questions/concerns. Very clean as well with lots of things you may need such as beach towels, cooler, water toys etc. Location is very private as well if that's what you're looking for. Just fyi it is ocean front but you cannot get to the ocean from location in case you are looking for that. You can see whales if you look closely which was very cool! Overall great stay for our first time using Airbnb!

I recently stayed at Justin’s Airbnb in Kona, and it was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, Justin was incredibly welcoming, offering great recommendations for local activities and making sure we had everything we needed. The house itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, creating a perfect island retreat. One of the highlights was the pool – it was pristine and provided the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring the island. The outdoor area was fantastic, with plenty of seating, and we enjoyed several evenings watching the sunset from the lanai. The location in Kona was ideal, with easy access to beaches, dining, and shopping, yet the house felt like a private oasis. We felt truly at home during our stay and couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind. I highly recommend Justin’s place for anyone looking to experience the best of Kona in comfort and style!

Great fit for our laid back group, a serene slice of heaven in Puna Palisades neighborhood. Karan communicated routinely with helpful information for outside visitors. Renters should be aware that check in process is different than AirBnB messages -- there is no code emailed, rather check in direct with owners. All good :-)

What a great place! Very easy to get to, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. Gabriel is a gracious host who really wants to ensure his guests make the MOST of their stay in the Puna district. His recs are spot on, and the home is a great home base for a couple or family (or a group of girls!) exploring the area. The garage is a welcome feature - we all know it rains a lot on the east side of the island but not needing to dodge raindrops while bringing in luggage or groceries or returning after a long day of exploring is really ono. We enjoyed nights on the lanai, breakfast too. A short walk to the cliffs (and one more block over to see a cool sea arch) to see Kanaloa battle Pele each morning is a mana-filled way to start each day. Mahalo nui loa! Until next time…

The jungle house was amazing. Super peaceful, worked perfectly for our family. Very much a secluded, jungle feel. Walking distance to a pretty (clothing optional) beach. The location is very private but also a bit far from other things on the island, be sure to map out the things you want to do and how far the drives will be in advance!

I booked this house under a different host but it sold before our trip. I was a little hesitant to cancel/rebook but everything was great. Both the previous host and the new host reached out several times to help move the booking over. Doug reached out to let me know he was changing the bed types in one of the rooms to make sure it was okay. Great communication. We had no issues during our stay. The house & view was beautiful. Very quite and peaceful. Very well stocked house. Our only complaint would be that there was no TV in the master bedroom (but one of the other rooms did have one). It was not an issue for me but my husband falls asleep better to the noise of a TV. If we ever return to the Big Island and rent a house, we will stay again.

Close enough to town that you don’t feel isolated but far enough away that you feel you’re in nature. Lovely lanai for reading or relaxing outside. Would definitely stay here again!

It is so delightful when ones expectations which are already high are completely surpassed. We enjoyed our stay so much at Christine‘s place. We were a big family and we loved the many different decks to relax and enjoy the beautiful view as well as the large kitchen and living room to gather and eat, laugh, play games and chat. Everything we could possibly need was provided. We really appreciated the cooler, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear, too. And oh that hammock !! If we come back to Kona, I would absolutely love to stay at Christine’s place again. Highly recommend! PS The driveway is super steep but it was all a part of the adventure! PPS We saw whales from the deck.

This house is a delight! From the beautiful decor to the view of the ocean, the sound of the waves and the perfect location. Can’t wait to come back! Yes please!
