This was our favorite stay while in NZ. I wish we could have stayed another night or two. The view is nothing short of amazing. I love that they have their own glowworm grotto. There are a few other rentals on the same property but you don't feel like you are lacking in privacy at all. You can tell how detail oriented the hosts are. As we were shown to the tent, Angus noticed a light bulb that was starting to flicker in one of the lamps. He immediately came back with a replacement. He had the tent pre-warmed as well for our arrival as it was a tad chilly outside. The bathroom had a heater mounted on the wall too. The only downside I could muster is that it's a little bit out of the way, but it is SO WORTH IT. I hope Rachel and Angus continue with Te Tiro for years to come so that we can bring our kids in the future.

Perfect for a family getaway with a hot tub, loads of games and the beach just down the road. Great to be able to bring the dogs and heaps of space! Thanks for having us!

We had such a lovely and relaxing stay at this farm stay! The accommodation was spacious and ideal for families, with plenty of room for everyone to feel at home. It’s kid-friendly, and our children had a great time just being out in nature. Although it rained during our visit and we couldn’t ride our bikes, we still enjoyed walking around the very large property—there’s so much open space to explore freely, and it would be absolutely perfect for biking on a sunny day. The farm animals were a real highlight. We saw sheep, horses, and cows during our walks—such a calming and enjoyable experience. The animals were friendly but shy, often coming close but not quite comfortable being closer, which made observing them feel more authentic and respectful. All in all, this is a fantastic spot to unwind and connect with nature. We’d love to return—next time hopefully with sunshine and our bikes!

We loved our stay here. Hosts were very friendly and flexible with our group. The accomodation had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and it was great to have a fully fenced area for the dogs. Mangonui is a lovely place to relax with beautiful beaches nearby.

Mathew's place is truly special — from the fun 4x4 ride through a deer park to the cabin, to the stunning views, total privacy and the covered barbecue area. Just know that it’s quite off the grid, which adds to the charm but also means it’s a bit rustic — the space wasn’t spotless (some dead insects in the outdoor shower, beddings didn’t feel fresh), but it felt understandable given the remote location. The ride with Mathew was super fun (we stood on the back and held the rails!) but it was raining, so we arrived completely wet — not a problem as we had jackets but might not suit everyone. When we arrived it was foggy, so we didn’t see the view until the second evening — but when it cleared, it was absolutely worth it. We recommend coming once and staying put — we walked 45 minutes back to our car as we had some program in between, but it's a nice walk. All in all, we loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for something different who doesn't mind a bit of adventure.
