Alison’s place was perfect for two young families. Incredible location, so central to the shops and an easy stroll to the estuary. The house is really well equipped. Honestly, the photos don't do Scott & Miriam's home justice - there's so much light, warmth and character to this home and you can tell they put a lot of thought into both the structural layout for the family and the overall presentation for guests. Having rented 2 cars and bought another during our stay, parking space was also not a concern. The hot tub was lovely but I'll personally miss the lovely garden space (we thoroughly enjoyed the tomatoes) and the decking which was was perfect for relaxing and just staring out to the beach after a long day. Before even arriving, we were sent a very useful guide to operating different bits of the house as well as local recommendations; our hosts were always available to respond to queries and were quick to offer help. Massive thank you to Scott and Miriam for making us feel so welcome during our first month in NZ!

Although the weather wasn’t great, our stay was lovely. Peter and Jacqueline let us know right away that the spa was broken but that they were working to get it fixed as soon as possible. They even brought us chocolates to make up for it. We were very happy to get to use it on our last morning. The view was fantastic!

Leanne was a wonderful host; excellent with communication and very helpful. The accomodation has a stunning view and is beautifully kept - comfortable, clean and just right for our stay (a two-nighter). The location was excellent; close to the city which has wonderful restaurants - of note The Quay. Highly recommended.

This is the most outstanding home we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve stayed in a lot of amazing homes. The well thought out design, perfectly equipped house (kitchen to joyfully cook meals, luxurious linens, extras for beach visits, really absolutely everything you’d want), and a gorgeous interior. The house is situated perfectly with privacy from the unit next door. The whole backside of the home is glass with giant sliders to open, catch the breeze and watch the ocean. The moonrise over the ocean and the sunrise over the ocean from bed is the cherry on top. This peaceful quiet space is number one on our list! Reserve it!

Five adults and six children had a wonderful weekend in Mangawhai, using Carolynn's house as our base. There was plenty of space for everyone to find their own corner, both inside and out. The kitchen was big enough for several cooks to work in at once and the dining table was big enough for us to all sit around so mealtimes were a treat, not a chore. Amazing view to the east, including sunrise across water and moonscape sand dunes. The spa at the end of the day was a special treat for our family, as was the large TV screen in the lounge. We missed a few books and board games but everything else was in good supply. Thank you for a special long weekend with my family Carolynn.

Very clean and tidy house with outstanding views over Mangawhai Estuary and out to the sea beyond. And the deck to enjoy the views made it even better!! We will definitely look to book here again if we are up this way in the future.

Truly excellent stay, Ian and Sue were lovely and the apartment so comfy and clean. We can’t wait to stay there again. Definitely do not miss the sunrise and the hidden beach!

This place is an absolute gem. We have stayed in numerous spots across New Zealand (and the world) and this place stands out for its views and surroundings. The home itself is modern and super functional, tons of natural light and open air with the sliding glass walls. The views are unobstructed and amazing. Rooms are bright and beautiful, and the kitchen views are unbeatable. Lots of serving ware for group dinners. From sunrise to sunset, right on the ocean with a walk down to the beach. The evenings around the fire are magic too. Close to Tutukaka and Matapouri and shops for what you need. We loved it and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back.

An amazing location with absolutely stunning views of the harbour. Well equipped. Lovely deck. A short but steep walk is well worth the effort for a relaxing drink watching the harbour. Non members welcome and great food. Some stunning beaches nearby for Ollie’s dog walks. Julia was very responsive to our messages. Highly recommended.

We loved staying here. The Airbnb was immaculate. Absolutely beautiful restful and peaceful place. We loved walking by the river and the stars at night were amazing with no streetlights nearby. I went a watched stars sitting on the lawn for a while one night. The garden was beautiful. Dave and Maggie obviously love the garden as it really is lovely. The space had everything we needed. Full kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry facilities. The bed was really comfortable and we slept really well. Thanks so much. We hope to come back again.

11 out of 10 ! Claire was outstanding as a host. Spacious, off-street parking (plural), private, clean, fully equipped, comfortable, squillionaire views with almost ‘private’ beach access. Maybe someone didn’t mention the great outdoor shower for getting rid of beach sand ? This place is perfect for family gatherings. There is only one thing not perfect about this place….having to leave !

We loved our stay here and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Mangawhai. The house was spotless and spacious with a beautiful big garden and Katy was extremely helpful and responsive over message, including setting up a portacot in one of the rooms for us. Another highlight was the location, and we really enjoyed taking the path leading from property to walk along the estuary to the tavern for dinner. Really enjoyed it and would love to stay here again in future.

Chris and Garth were kind, responsive and welcoming hosts. We booked short notice and they had the room ready early and even thought to make up the extra bed when they learnt I had a teen travelling with me. The space itself is lovely. It is bigger than it appears in the photos, and is extremely well equipped with entertainment, full sized furniture for just a couple or a small family, and the most beautiful gardens to relax in. The bnb is set well away from the house, so it feels private, and the garden setting makes everything feel so tranquil! Location is 10/10 and if you have a fur baby travelling with you, it will be well taken care of too! Ours loved exploring the gardens as well as the beautiful local walks along the river. We are excited to make a yearly trip back to this accomodation.

Very comfortable little place with a ton of nice little touches like artwork, good appliances, comfortable outdoor seating. Very close to the beach and the estuary. Even if you aren't a dog person, the dogs are so well behaved and quiet, they occasionally will visit you and you can give them a pat if you like.

We had one night stay at Moana villas and it was perfect stay for us as a family. Unfortunately the weather was terrible but we felt nice and cozy at Margaret and Lou's little place. Very friendly hosts and were flexible as well as to help us check in early. Definitely would come back another time.

We were six couples who had a thoroughly enjoyable break from city life for 5 days. Used it as a base to do day trips to go fishing, trip to Cape Reinga and Kerikeri. Big comfortable home and friendly responsive host

Absolutely gorgeous property. Comfortable beds and large bathrooms. It even smelled great when we arrived. We ordered the breakfast basket which was delivered with flowers and was so good. The bbq basket was also worth it. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This home is awesome, so close to everything and has everything you need. Unfortunately, the pool heating wasn't playing ball but we were able to take advantage of the spa.

We love our stay at Greg's place. It's a great place to stay with the family who likes privacy and calming surrounding. It's close to town and beach, love the spa and pool although it was ice cold during our stay but I bet it was great on a more sunny day 😅 Overall, its worth the rate and love it!

Highly recommend this fabulous place, clean, quiet and easy walking into town. Accommodation is well suited for 8 visitors. Loved the three bathrooms, plenty of towels and easy to book and use the shared facilities, pool, spa and bbq. Thank you Olivia, we will definitely be back.

We came up from Auckland for a wedding & the property was local to everything The property was great and both Rob & his wife were lovely. We barely seen them so we decided to go say hello down at their Phat House bar in haruru. We had a couple of nephews come and visit while we were up aswell . Catching up with whanau and coming back to relax there was lovely .

Ideal for our group of golfing guys looking for a comfortable house with individual beds and close to all local amenities. Awesome outdoor area to have an end of day catchup before walking into Paihia for dinner. The next time we head north we will want to stay here again.

Our family really enjoyed this stay! We loved the layout of the home, having the sleep out allowed the kids to have their own space and we weren’t feeling like we were all on top of each other. The pool isn’t massive but enough for everyone to cool down. The distance to the shops is so close which was super handy for grocery top ups or ice cream runs. As it’s on the main road it is noisy in the front room and impacts getting in and out of the drive - but not an issue for us but worth noting. The host was super responsive as we were 30mins early. Will def be back to stay!
