A fabulous stay of five days - made even better by a spell of great weather and wall to wall sunshine. Beautiful and varied beaches all nearby, from Waipu through to Te Arai. Accommodation layout perfect for family, children and grandparents allowing a bit of separation. Peaceful & private location. Well equipped. Lovely high ceiling living space with excellent indoor/outdoor area. Minor access issue caused by 3 year old swiftly fixed by Sarah with the minimum of fuss, for which we were very grateful.

Sarah’s place was our home away from home. It was just perfect for 3 couples visiting Whangarei for a sporting event and Sarah couldn’t do enough to make us feel comfortable and welcome. A truly wonderful host offering fantastic accommodation. Thanks so much Sarah- we cannot say enough about how happy we were at your place.

We had a great stay at this awesome home in Mangawhai. Estuary and shops in walking distance and the house had everything you needed and more. Two families got to share this home with ample space for us all. Beds were comfortable and the place was very clean and tidy. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back and stay again.

Beautiful location! The open living plan was awesome for our whanau. Our moko enjoyed the trampoline and riding his bike down the little hill. Bathrooms were super clean and the beds were comfy with clean bedding. The washing machine and dryer were a bonus aswell. Would recommend!

The house is very clean and modern and nice views onto the dunes and estuary. The beds and couch are very comfortable. Kitchen is well-stocked, house very easy to settle in. There is a walking path towards the estuary just outside the house for a short stroll. Grocery, restaurants, shops are all less than 10min away. Sandra was very responsive and had someone nearby that could take care of small things quickly. There is a small parking space on top of the hill behind the house (on Estuary Dr; it may be tricky to navigate two cars in the actual driveway). There is hot water kettle, no coffeemaker, instant coffee provided. Peaceful at night, beautiful stars and milky way on clear nights and be sure to catch the sunrise!

Nice accomodation, the host was great to deal with. We made a last minute booking and they were very accomodating and ensured everything was in order for arrival. Would definitely recommend.

Steven’s place was exactly as described, beautifully clean, very comfortable, we loved the kids games available, excellent location right across the road from the playground, would highly recommend for families!

Wow what a delightful little pocket of serene paradise. Coming from the city and fast lane of hustle and bustle this place was definitely a slice of heaven. Thank you so much Gordy and Carol. The communication was awesome. Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet you in person however your beautiful little retreat says it all about you both. Just a little side comment not that it mattered the internet wasn’t up due to previous ones who had played around with the settings. Yet the communication was on point. Would I stay there again? Of course I would and would recommend this to anyone🙌

If you are looking for waterfront , this location would be hard to beat in Mangawhai. On the estuary where you can swim in front of the unit. 5 minute walk to the surf beach and start of the Cliff walk. Amazing sunrise which is even better if you walk the 5 mins to the beach. The unit has very well maintained retro finishes that take you back in time. We were here in late March so it was very quiet and peaceful. Loved it.

Lovely stay, highly recommend Lil's place. The location is awesome, so relaxing, comfortable bed, everything you need for a great stay is provided, love there is a full size fridge, BBQ, washing machine and dryer amongst other essentials. Lil is very helpful and there is plenty of information about walks, where to go and what to see. Being able to walk across the road to the water each day was a bonus and the views from the unit are forever changing as the tides come and go and the sun rises and sets. Some days there are cattle next door at the fence. I highly recommend staying and will return in the near future.

Lovely apartment right by the water. We used the kayaks which was great fun to do on a hot day. Easy walking distance to the many restaurants. A great stop over point on the way to Auckland. Very comfortable beds.

Leanne was a wonderful host; excellent with communication and very helpful. The accomodation has a stunning view and is beautifully kept - comfortable, clean and just right for our stay (a two-nighter). The location was excellent; close to the city which has wonderful restaurants - of note The Quay. Highly recommended.

Great price. Quiet and private area to stay. Provided with everything you need when staying away from home. Tidy and clean.

Had a lovely stay here and the views are amazing as you have the choice of making dinner on the barbecue, and enjoy the restful and peaceful surroundings and el fresco dining:-) Easy to stroll down and walk along the beach also.

Myself and my partner have recently spent Friday - Sunday at Dave’s place. Everything was perfect! The place is very spacious and comfortably fits two guests and also includes a sofa bed. The location was great and only a 20 minute walk into town for local bars, shops and restaurants. The beach is also only an 8 minute drive which was ideal as that’s where we spent most of our time. The accommodation was very clean and instructions for access were easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Thanks Dave!

My mum lives in Ruakaka so Tony and Nora’s is a great spot for us to stay. Comfy bed, good shower, very private and great views. If you are couple we highly recommend this place.

It was a lovely relaxing spot to spend a week in a rural setting with sea views out to the Poor Knights islands. A large property, accessed off a private road so very secluded and peaceful. Handy location half way between Matapouri Bay and Tutukaka, although you do need a car to go anywhere. Kitchen was very well equipped including basic supplies. Access to an indoor swimming pool, ability to charge the EV, and use of the laundry was a bonus. The hosts were very welcoming on arrival and explained the facilities and beach access path. Special touches were a bottle of wine and locally made nut brittle on arrival, and acknowledgement of our wedding anniversary which was during our stay. Annette and Bianca were super helpful and responded promptly to any questions.
