First things first: this isn’t your sleek, modern Tokyo high-rise. Grandma’s House is exactly what the name implies—a modest, older Japanese home filled with the kind of character that makes you feel rooted in history and community. The house’s architecture reflects a traditional Japanese layout, complete with sliding doors, tatami mat flooring, low ceilings, and thoughtful minimalism that gives the space a calming, peaceful energy. That said, taller guests should take note—if you’re over 5’6” (about 167 cm), be prepared to duck a bit. The ceilings and doorways are low in some parts of the house, which adds to the cozy, nostalgic feel but might be a bit tricky if you’re not used to it. For us, it was more charming than inconvenient. It reminded us that this was someone’s beloved home for decades, and that sense of warmth lives on in the space.

It was our family trip and it was a very traditional Japanese house and on the first floor there is a cute cafe running by the hosts and we love every part of it. The best part was playing rooms and toys. Our girl enjoyed so much while staying here. Also, host gave us public bath tickets so we could experience the very local bath. We’ll definitely go back!

This place is perfect of families and friends looking to stay in Aoshima. There are lots of activities provided by the host, though you need to inform them first. We especially enjoy the ping-pong table! All necessities were provided and we felt right at home. Highly recommended this place!

the place was extremely relaxing and peaceful. A beautiful getaway from the busy city life. The host was super friendly, helped us check in and offered to bring us around the island. We loved the sea view and the spacious house. Our stay was definitely one that we will never forget.

とても清潔で寝やすいベッドで大変快適な滞在になりました！ 自炊するのも調理器具が揃っていて、エアビーでほとんど自炊しました！ 近くに渓谷があり、散歩も気持ちよく、またベランダからやまびこが綺麗に返ってくるスポットがあり感動しました！

ゆったりとした時間が流れる島で、快適な宿泊ができ、あっという間に島を出る時間を迎えました。 下記良かったなぁと感じた点です。 ⚫︎港に着いてから宿までの送迎があった ⚫︎暮らすように旅出来る程の食器、キッチンツール、調味料までご準備されていた ⚫︎地元佐賀や九州チョイスにこだわった冷凍食品、酎ハイ、ウォーターサーバーなど、オーナーのハイレベルなおもてなしを感じた ⚫︎緊急時にオーナー直通の電話があって安心だった ⚫︎清潔なタオルとお布団 ⚫︎シャワーの水圧が素晴らしかった ⚫︎細かいところまで行き届いたお掃除 ⚫︎ビーチまで歩いてすぐで可愛い貝殻があった ⚫︎ビーチから見た夕陽が綺麗だった ⚫︎インパクトある立派なお屋敷で、 研修や合宿、リトリートにも使えるほどの広さだった 島ならではの非日常を感じられる旅でした。 宿泊前もご親切に連絡をくださり安心して宿泊できました。 この度はありがとうございました！

La maison est très agréable, très propre et parfaitement équipée pour une famille. Elle bénéficie d'un grand jardin et d'une vue superbe sur le Mont Kaimondake. Notre hôte a été très amicale et efficace sur tous les sujets. Au total, un superbe séjour pour visiter la région du sud de Kyushu !

John is a thoughtful and a good host. He responded to our questions very quickly. His home is beautiful, comfortable (excellent bed mattress and floor mattresses!), and we especially love that there is a living area that’s separated from the sleeping/bathing area, which allows us to enjoy time when our baby is asleep. The kitchen is fully equipped. It’s also very helpful that the house is located just a 5-min drive from a big Aeon mall.

世界遺産のすぐ近くで、部屋も素晴らしく対応も素晴らしかったです。 BBQグリルも使いやすく、夏だったらプールにも入れたのに、冬だったので残念です。 愛犬も一緒に泊まれて言うことなしでした！！ また是非宿泊したいです。

とても綺麗で良かったです。11人で行って広々使えました。ただプールの底が破れてて使いにくかったです。

今回5人で利用させていただきました！ チェックインの際は素敵な歓迎と共にお部屋も暖炉をたいて下さっており、とても暖かかったです♫ 黒川温泉の近くにあり、オススメの温泉を教えてくださったり、とても親身に対応してくださいました！！ また、ベットには湯たんぽを準備してくださっていたり、こたつもあり、暖かくみんなと最高な時間を過ごすことができました！！ ホストとホストの奥さんの温かいおもてなしにホッコリした素敵な旅になりました！ ありがとうございました😊

素晴らしい滞在でした。貞親さんが手塩にかけて育てた農園、お孫さんたちのために手作りしたツリーハウスやブランコ、別府湾をのぞむ美しい景色、プラネタリウムのような星空。小2の我が子にとっては楽園のような場所で、なかなか家に入ってこずいつまでも外で遊んでいました。お子さんのいるご家庭には、この上ない環境だと思います。 週末だったのでキウイ狩りやキャンプのお客様がひっきりなしにいらして、おひとりで運営なさっていますのでとてもお忙しそうではありましたが、細やかにお気遣いいただきました。 自家製のはちみつも、とってもおいしかったです。 また暖かくなる頃、必ず訪れたいと思います。またよろしくお願いします！

美月的房源正如照片呈現的一樣，優美、典雅，非常傳統的日式房屋和內飾。同時又有現代的供暖完全所以寒冷的冬天也可以安心入住。房東精心準備了歡迎的茶葉和茶點讓我們感到兵至如歸，她選擇的洗浴用品和床品也非常有品味，這個房子由內而外都是精心設計過的，讓人驚喜連連。美月也非常友善，我們入住當天她幫忙預訂了附近一家充滿藝術氣息的餐廳，我們享用了一頓難忘的晚餐。非常美好的一次入住體驗！以後一定還會再來！謝謝招待！❤️

キッチン・ダイニングが秀逸で素敵空間でした。真冬だったのでめちゃくちゃ寒いかと思いきやそうでもなく、快適に楽しむことが出来ました！立地も素晴らしく海まですぐです。

What a beautiful place, the location along the coast in a quiet part of the forest, wonderful view of the ocean from a deck, inside, there is everything there that you need. In winter it can get cold, but it heats up quickly, nice bathroom, many thoughtful and beautiful decorations. The host couple were really lovely and helpful, and also open, insightful and inspiring. Thank you so much for having me and for the wonderful stay and chats!
