All supplies are included. • After an icebreaker, I’ll guide you through acrylic painting basics, including brush techniques and color mixing. • Working on a 12x16-inch canvas, you’ll sketch your portrait with pencil first. Visit handpicked shops to meet passionate booksellers, discover hidden gems, and chat about your favorite reads. • Starting at American Grammar, we’ll grab coffee, tea, and pastries, and discuss our route. Browse the shop’s curated collection of nonfiction, indie magazines, ceramics, and apparel. • Drop into H&H Books, run by Linda Gallant Moore, which specializes in bold, contemporary fiction, particularly works featuring strong female narratives. • Visit Harriett’s Bookshop, a vibrant space dedicated to celebrating Black authors and creating a welcoming literary community, and Lot 49 Books, a treasure trove of used books spanning fiction, philosophy, history, and beyond. You’ll get slow fashion styling tips—and learn how to refresh and chainstitch pre-loved items—while browsing my four picks. • Start at At My House, a woman-owned boutique known for its playful, size-inclusive vintage pieces. I’ll give you a custom Philly-themed tote bag featuring my chainstitch embroidery to use as your shopping bag. • Stop by Ace Outpost, a ’70s-inspired vintage shop with an attached cafe, where you can grab a coffee while browsing. • Visit Approved Textiles, a shop dedicated to extending the life of garments through repairs and embellishments, and finish up at Sweet Peel Vintage, featuring a collection of bold styles from the ’70s to the 2000s, curated by two passionate vintage collectors. An arborist's tour of Fairmount Park's historic gardens

Join me, an urban forester and environmentalist, for an exploration of one of Philadelphia’s most treasured green spaces - Fairmount Park! You’ll visit botanical landmarks and uncover the stories behind unique trees and plants that highlight fascinating aspects of the city’s history. • Explore the lush indoor greenhouse at the Horticulture Center before visiting the Pavilion in the Trees, an interactive art installation nestled in a woodland canopy that offers insight into the park’s ongoing restoration projects. • Admire the serene Shofuso Japanese House and Garden and the Centennial Arboretum's remarkable trees including beautiful cherry blossoms in early spring. • Marvel at Michaux Grove’s towering oaks, planted in the 1870s along with others for the Centennial Exposition, before we walk back to the Horticulture Center. You’ll leave this nature walk inspired by the stories of trees and plants that connect the past, present, and future of this legendary city.

Create a tintype portrait with a photographer

Create your own 3x4" tintype portrait and learn about the medium’s roots in 19th century Philadelphia. We’ll also explore the daguerreotype and the evolution of wet plate photography. • I’ll share a brief history of photography and teach you about camera functions and composition. I’ll also demonstrate the chemical processes that create images. • You’ll then sit for a portrait while I explain the chemical reactions involved. Weather permitting, this part of the experience will take place outside, at nearby Fishtown landmarks. • Finally, you’ll get hands-on experience varnishing and curing your own portrait and mounting it on a Philadelphia-themed mat 5x7". You’ll leave with your tintype portrait to take home, as well as my recommendations for other activities in the area.

The buildings of Philadelphia’s Old City tell many stories about the history of the United States and its growth from an English colony to an early republic. Join me, an architect, for a history walk through this historic neighborhood to explore the evolution of American architectural styles. Most tours are Private, but please contact me if you are two or more guests and I can make them public. • Begin in the charming, narrow streets and Georgian and Federal-style homes of Elfreth’s Alley, which offer a glimpse into 18th-century domestic life. • You’ll walk through the neighborhood to sites like the First Bank of the United States and the nearby Merchants’ Exchange, which showcase the growing financial power of this new country. • Our walk will culminate at Independence Hall, a pivotal building in American history, representing the birth of the nation and a landmark of Georgian design. You’ll learn how the architectural styles in Old City reflect the historical significance of Philadelphia itself.

What a wonderful opportunity to snuggle the famous Valais Blacknose Sheep, often referred to as "the Cutest Sheep in the World" in person. These sheep have a cult like following all over the world and now they are here in the United States as well! Whispering Pines is part of the Valais Blacknose Sheep breed-up program in North America, and our farm has one of the few domestic purebred lambs in the USA! During your experience you will be able to meet and pet our lambs and sheep while trying not to fall in love. This year's lambs are due in mid-March 2025 and will be thrilled to snuggle with you beginning in April. This experience comes complete with a professional photographer! All photos come FREE with the experience and are edited and emailed to you electronically through DropBox within 5 business days by our farm photographer. These pictures are yours to keep and there are no other costs associated, so feel free to use them as you wish. Seating, hand wipes and bottled water provided with our experiences. CAUTION: Valais Blacknose Sheep are VERY personable and love attention. They are often referred to as large fluffy dogs, but in sheep form. Lambs might want to sniff, lick, cuddle you and might insist on sitting in your lap.

Taste through the history of wine in the Finger Lakes! Intended for groups of no more than 6 adults, your experience will be customized to your wine interests and preferences. Rather than tasting wine from one particular vineyard, I will personally curate a selection of wines for you to specifically illustrate the interesting history and development of the wine industry in the Finger Lakes. Not only will you have the opportunity to taste a few wines made of vinifera grapes that have made the Finger Lakes a top wine destination, you can also taste a wine made of native grapes that won a gold medal in Vienna in 1873 and a sacramental wine that saved the winery during Prohibition. We’ll even discuss techniques to make white, orange, rose and red wines. We will first meet at The Pleasant Valley Winery in Hammondsport, where I will be your guide to NY state’s first bonded winery established in 1860. You will then follow me in your own vehicle 20 minutes to Vintners View on Lamoka Lake where you will tour my micro winery and enjoy a curated selection of wines in your souvenir wineglass on the docked Vagabond Vintner Wine Barge. Expect unconventional paired snacks before you depart with knowledgeable advice about wineries to visit during your stay. This is an adults-only experience. Guests will need to have identification verifying age of 21 or over.

Old and new buildings, city squares and public art will turn this bike ride into a unique event full of exciting (re)discoveries of The Burgh. Other things to note: TOURS START ON TIME. Atelier fabrication de savons et de bougies

In about 1.5 hours I will be teaching you how to make 3 different FUN luxury products, that you get to take home with you. We will start with 100% domestic soy candle with a cotton wick with your choice of fragrance. We will then make a soap that you can roll into a scroll, you choose your herbs and essential oils. Finally we will be making a Face Spritzer that contain organic aloe vera. We will chat about the benefits of essential oils and which would be the best for you. Bottle water will be available. There are a minimum of two people and maximum 4 people per class, children 10 years and over are welcomed. If you have any questions or like to request a private class of minimum of 4 people (I will try my best to accommodate - my schedule is not very flexible) please contact me and I will get back to you promptly. The classes will be held in my 1900 farmhouse, PLEASE NOTE we have two potbelly pigs as pets that live and roam in our home. They are friendly and you will be able to pet them. A Toast to History--Behind the Scenes at Carpenters' Hall

You’ll get a private, after-hours tour of historic Carpenters’ Hall, the site of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and the birthplace of American democracy. First we’ll show you the main hall where the Congress met, where you’ll see original artifacts from the period and a detailed model showing the construction of Carpenters’ Hall. Then it’s up to our second floor, which is off limits to regular visitors, where you’ll see our gorgeous 19th-century library and get to explore some of our rare books and other items from our collection. We’ll close with questions and a scotch tasting to toast the continued good health of our visitors, the Carpenters’ Company and the importance of history. The scotch is curtesy of ImpEx Beverages. Each guest will also receive a copy of “Meeting Place of History,” a fully illustrated booklet about Carpenters’ Hall.

On this tour, we’ll explore Independence National Historical Park and the Old City neighborhood to see a plethora of historical landmarks! Along the way, your guide will keep you posted on the history of these sites and fill you in on all kinds of useful info for your visit to Philly. We’ll see Carpenters Hall, where the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was founded. Next, we’ll head to the Museum of American Revolution, which offers an incredible look at the stories, artifacts, and people that shaped the American Revolution. We’ll go inside to see a presentation of George Washington’s War Tent ( when your tour is over, you’ll be able to get a discounted ticket to see the rest of the museum). As we walk through Old City, we’ll also pass by some favorite sites such as Elfreth’s Alley (the oldest continuously-occupied residential street in the entire US), showcasing incredible architecture dating back to the early 1700s, the Betsy Ross House, named after a famous seamstress and flag maker who is said to have sewn the first ever American flag, Benjamin Franklin’s Grave (bring a penny to toss!), and the outdoor President’s House Landmark where Washington and Adams lived.

Our tour for movie buffs! Pittsburgh is known as the city where the three rivers meet - but it also features the convergence of some of the biggest moments in film history, from the earliest days of the moviemaking industry to groundbreaking independent films and bona fide blockbusters. This history owes much to the city’s role as a hub of industry, its unique architecture and geography, and tax incentives that made location shooting in Pittsburgh an appealing prospect for Hollywood. This tour will take you through the historic downtown neighborhood and into the famous scenes and filming locations from some of your favorite movies - and uncover some hidden gems, too! This is your opportunity to walk in the footsteps of zombies and Batman.
