We had a fantastic stay—our kids absolutely loved it and begged to stay longer every single day. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the beach, with gorgeous morning strolls and stunning evening sunsets. We especially appreciated that it was dog-friendly—the built-in dog door in the bedroom was such a thoughtful detail, letting our pup come and go without waking us. After full days of kayaking around the Channel Islands, relaxing in the hot tub was the perfect way to unwind. The kitchen was fully stocked for home-cooked meals, and the welcome snacks were a lovely touch. We also loved not having to pack beach gear—the hosts had everything covered: toys, canopy, towels, you name it. Everything was spotless and well maintained, and the host’s kindness in offering us a late checkout made our departure so much smoother. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

The place was very nice, small but cozy . 5 min walk to the beach and restaurants. Cons: parking was terrible the last day of our trip we had to park a few blocks away. I can imagine in the summer it’s terrible. The weather outside was about 60 daily which is great but the house stays very moist because of humidity, during our stay we had to open the windows because it would get a bit hot inside. Beds were comfy my only complaint was leather couch it wasn’t clean it definitely could use a deep clean. I used a throw blanket to sit on when using the couch. Our trip was awesome we loved how close the place was to the beach, we had lots of fun.

This was our second stay at Ken and Dawn's and we hope to return in the future. We love the quaint little Ballard community where the apartment is located. It has the feel of an isolated, rural community -- very peaceful, very walkable. And yet it is minutes away from most of the things you'll want to do in the area. While you're taking that neighborhood stroll, don't forget to walk over to Bob's Well Bread for breakfast, by the way. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable and charming in its own unique way. You get a living room with a kitchenette and a couch facing a faux fireplace, but you also get a separate bedroom and a separate TV room. You may also appreciate the washer and dryer that you'll find in the bathroom. Last but not least, there is a small but pleasant outdoor seating area where you can sip wine and enjoy the tranquillity of the neighborhood. On top of all of this, Ken and Dawn are very gracious, proactive and responsive hosts.

We had a fantastic stay at this house! With 8 adults, the space was perfect—nice, cozy, and equipped with everything we needed for daily use. The kitchen was fully stocked, including all necessary utensils and dishes, which made cooking so convenient. The attention to detail and care from the owner truly made a difference. It felt like a home away from home. We highly recommend this place and give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Rey the property manager was very easy to deal with. He was quick to text when the keypad on the door wasn’t working with our code. He had us into the house in no time

Charlene’s place was clean, comfortable and safe. She and her husband were kind and helpful. The neighborhood was safe with plenty of parking. I would recommend this spot!

We loved our stay so much! We traveled to Summerland to escape the cold in Boston, and it was exactly what we were looking for and more. The beach, coffee, restaurants, and an adorable book store were within a five minute walk. The space was clean and private. My only advice would be to ensure your GPS is following the directions given by the host! The hill behind the house is definitely a little sketchy, especially if you’re renting a car. All in all we had a wonderful time and would love to come back.

Great place! Kitchen had everything we needed. Hottub and outdoor space was amazing. There were beach toys and a few chairs we used. Beach was amazing. We saw dolphins and a harbor seal. Beds were comfortable, living room was cozy. The little coffee area was cute and we appreciated the complimentary coffee pods and creamer. Jon was very responsive. Walkable to restaurants. We took a day trip to Channel Islands and saw whales and did some nice hiking. Beautiful place!

Beautiful location, you can walk and be at the beach in just a couple minutes. There’s a beautiful park nearby. Condo was clean. Enjoyed having a hot tub and washer/dryer. Would definitely stay here again!

A great stay, helpful staff and beautiful location! It isn’t my first time staying in Oxnard Shores, and Channel Island Shores did not disappoint. It was a great location for the price with all the amenities you could want.
