Overall a good stay. The host was very accommodating and gave us an extra heater since it’s cold in Kyoto this time of year and we wanted the place bit warmer. The host communicated well and even allowed us to check out later with our train time being late afternoon. Would recommend this for 2 guests only as space is kind of tight. Also water in shower didn’t get as hot as we’d like but we managed. Thanks for hosting us!

We loved staying at Micky’s place in Juso. It’s on a quiet street but an easy walk to a lively shopping area. This quiet home was the perfect place to stay with our 10 month old son who needed a quiet environment to sleep but it was close enough to fun things to do. We were also only one stop away from Osaka-Umeda station which is one of our favorite places to explore. The house was wonderful and met our needs. Two bedrooms were perfect and beds were comfortable. We appreciated having a full kitchen as well as a nice living room. Micky gave helpful instructions on how to use the appliances and features of the home. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Located next to the beautiful Toji Temple, Shunsukes place was perfect for a short stay in Kyoto. Well connected to the city centre and walking distance to a selection of great restaurants. The home is traditional, very authentic and welcoming.

This is a very cool experience staying in a 150 year old historic Kyoto macha. You feel like you are living in the old ways of Japan, with original woodwork, original sliding doors, and kotatsu table. The neighborhood is an authentic, mellow residential area but there are restaurants, grocery stores, etc nearby. The bus took us to Gion in about 35 minutes, super easy. One thing to note if you are coming in winter or cooler months is that the front room and kitchen are not heated. We spent a lot of time under the kotatsu though which was very cozy and special. The host, Koichi, was very friendly and clearly takes a lot of pride in the house. When you check in he will give you a tour and make you green tea and chat, so be sure and build in an hour or so for the warm welcome!

Lo único que no pude usar fue la regadera, salía muy poca agua o no la supe usar, tuve que usar la tina siempre. Y no tiene secadora por lo que secar la ropa por el clima frío tomo un par de días.

Akane's place was perfect for our group of 6. The apartment is flexible for different combinations of people in the 3 bedrooms. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Akane always responded right away whenever we needed instructions on anything in the apartment. Her English is very good and she is very friendly. We had a great time!

Ume was a wonderful host and her home was clean, comfortable and exactly what we were looking for a family trip. It was close to Kyoto station and had all the amenities we needed for a home base. Would highly recommend!

Excellent logement à 10min à pieds de la gare. Quartier très calme et grande maison.J’ai particulièrement apprécié la salle de bain traditionnelle. Je relouerai sans hésiter!

This place was an amazing base for our time in Kyoto. Very walkable but still quiet. 15 minute walk from Kyoto station and close to other local lines.

Unit was spotless clean and very comfortable. Absolutely loved the heated floors and big steam shower! Was about a 2 minute walk to the local bus stop, and a 8 minute walk to the main train station. Host was very friendly and communicated very quick. Had a great stay and would highly recommended!

Exactly what we needed after the last few weeks in hotels. It made us feel like we were locals for that moment. Everything is 10mins walk away and you’re close to the river for those sunrise/ sunset walks.

The house is a small gem, decorated with so much taste, very pretty and peaceful. It’s very close to the train railway but the noise is okay. I was so happy coming back after a day of wandering in the city. The place comes with lots of amenities, like great soap, tea and coffee which I really enjoyed. The only negative thing is that the futon beds are quite thin. It was a very enjoyable stay overall ~

We absolutely loved everything about our stay here. At first I was worried Arashiyama might be too far from most attractions in Kyoto, but after visiting downtown and the Gion district and seeing the massive crowds of tourists, I am so happy we chose to stay in Arashiyama. Tokuji & Takako's place was perfect. Very traditional and beautiful, just like the photos. The bath was incredible. It's just a short walk to the train station, restaurants, the river, and attractions like bamboo forest and monkey park. At the same time it is located on a quiet residential street. We spent most of our 4 days exploring Arashiyama there is so much to do and it was an incredibly beautiful and relaxing place to be. Takako welcomed us when we arrived with hot tea, and Tokuji was there to send us off at check out. Next time we come to Kyoto we hope to stay here again!

Lovely stay with a large group. We all had plenty of space and felt right at home! Great location - walkable to so many sights and in a super quiet neighborhood. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Karen’s place was a home away from home. The heated flooring was pleasant as temperatures plunged when we got to Kyoto. The bathrooms were clean and practical. The space was huge for 4 persons. The kitchen and dining was beautiful hence we had a day where we bought food to enjoy the space with the travel party. We drove so it was convenient as there are multiple car parks in the vicinity. Do try the ramen down the road, 1 min walk to the right as you exit the house. It was great! Had been a pleasure staying here. Thanks for the Japanese hospitality!

I highly recommend Leo’s home. It’s located in an awesome neighborhood very close to Umeda. Despite its proximity to Osaka station the neighborhood is quiet and had a ton of cute shops and restaurants. The home was clean, spacious and perfect for our family of four. I highly recommend Leo’s home.

Beautiful house on quiet street that is accessed by walking a short distance on a narrow street. The house was thoughtfully decorated and had a wonderful atmosphere. You walk 5-10 minutes and you’re in the busy district of narrow streets and temples. When you get home to the house it is very quiet and tranquil. It was a nice place to call home and rest before venturing back out into the busy streets of Kyoto. It was roughly $10 USD to get from Kyoto train station to the house via cab. The cab driver can’t take you all of the way to the house, so you have to walk 2 mins with your bags to the door. The house is backed up against a freeway overpass. While not ideal aesthetically it didn’t bother us in any way. The house feels very private and quiet. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Karen was very responsive, whenever I texted her within minutes, she would text back. The house was very clean. After checking out we stored our luggage for a couple of hours in the house. It helped a lot, because our plane didn’t leave until 5:00pm. The store was only 3 minute walk, so that was great too.
